Kona Coffee Estate Guest Apartment with Ocean and Garden Views

Our estate is situated on the slopes of Mt. Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are located just 15 minutes from the Kona Airport, 10 minutes from the quaint coastal town of Kailua-Kona, 10 minutes from the artists’ village of Holualoa, and also 10 minutes from Costco! We are at a comfortable 1500' elevation in the Kona Coffee growing corridor. We have over 100 Kona Coffee trees on our property, along with papayas, avocados, bananas, pineapples, and tangerines that we will share with you when in season.

Separate from the main house on the estate and above the garage, we offer a private, peaceful, Hawaiian motif 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment with fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, and bamboo floors throughout. There is high speed wireless Internet throughout the apartment , and a 43” smart TV with free Netflix in the living room.

There is a queen bed in the bedroom, and a Euro lounge sofa/bed that converts into a 46' x 78' bed (almost full size) in living room, with all linens supplied. The bathroom has a large walk-in tiled shower with plenty of bath and beach towels supplied for your use. The bedroom and kitchen have views overlooking the ocean.

The large sunny living room extends onto your large private lanai through 16' sliding glass doors overlooking the lush gardens & greenbelt. There is a gas BBQ, and dining table with 4 chairs on the lanai. Watch the native birds and the occasional wild pigs stroll by!

The unit is perfect for 1 couple +, maximum 4 persons (check convertible bed size), but not suitable for toddlers. Overall square footage, including lanai is 816 sq. ft. It is not handicap accessible as there are stairs up to the apartment.

You are also welcome to enjoy the gazebo anytime which overlooks the estate, harbor, and Pacific Ocean. It is especially nice at sunset.

There are laundry facilities available for your use in the apartment. There is also a drying rack. Beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, and coolers are also available for your use.

Kailua-Kona has several world renowned events, including the Ironman Triathlon in October, and the International Billfishing Tournament in August, along with ongoing outdoor athletic events. There is lots to do on the Big Island. You can fish, surf, snorkel, scuba dive, kayak, swim with the dolphins, golf, see a volcano, hike, bike, and star gaze at an observatory, when road is open.

We are onsite owners who manage this accommodation which is a part of our estate’s pride of ownership. We want you to make yourselves at home and treat it with the respect you would your own home.

Everything was perfect! Such a nice relaxing place to stay. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen stocked with everything you need. Beautiful views. Cool comfortable nights. The noise from the frogs was even soothing at night for the 3 nights we were there but can see how it would be a nuisance for some. Highly recommend Donnas place.

Only two nights at this sweet retreat. We would have loved to have stayed longer. It's as exactly as described. You'll find everything you need. Check in was easy and welcoming. We were left some treats, fruits and coffee from the owner's property. Lovely sunsets from the gazebo.

All I can say is we were stunned at the beautiful grounds which include lush gorgeous foliage and a small little Kona coffee farm. The apartment is spacious, airy and a perfect place to relax overlooking the hills of Kona with a breathtaking view down to the ocean . We enjoyed the balcony and also the little patio deck downstairs every morning and evening. The hosts Donna & Robbie are ever so accommodating and the space is thoughtfully stocked with the comforts of home. Make sure and check out the guidebook 'the Big Island Revealed' and the fun notes compiled by a local. They both were great collections of info for visitors. Bonus points for the adorably friendly little black cat and white cat cruising around the property. We can't wait to come back! Thank you Donna & Robbie!

The apartment was cute and clean. Lovely flowers surrounded the property, the view was amazing and the COFFEE was incredible! We really enjoyed our stay here, it was peaceful and quite. The night sounds were pleasant, and we had no need for ear plugs. I would rent here again and recommend this apartment to anyone.

This property provided a fun experience for us to be surrounded by nature while also being near things to do. Our stay was short but we appreciated the fully-stocked kitchen and bathroom, beach supplies and of course the home grown coffee and fruit. We did admittedly overlook the lack of AC, but the bedroom cooled off quickly after the sun went down and through the night. Dining outside for breakfast with views of the ocean and watching the sunset from the overlook were highlights.

This 1bd unit was adorable and perfect for me and my friend! Great for a couple! The property itself was beautiful with garden, coffee orchard and ocean view! Everything upgraded and super nice! Close to Kailua town, but far enough away to be private. Owners were super friendly and helpful, also far enough away for privacy, but there if needed. Adorable kitty(s) that does not bother. Beautiful property and experience! Would definitely stay here again!

This property sits above the city which provides a lovely view. It is a bit out of town but perhaps that is what makes it so special. The accommodations are spacious and we were pleased to have access to a washer and dryer after being on the road for a while. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We loved our stay! It’s a great location up in coffee country. Cool evenings and gorgeous sunsets. A beautiful symphony of frogs, geckos and insects each night! Donna was easy and quick with communication. They provided helpful guides, coolers, even delicious papayas! We found a great hike nearby and Holualoa is a charming small artsy town. We can’t wait to come back again.

Perched high above Kona, away from the hustle and bustle, this apartment was the perfect spot for visiting this side of the Island. Located in a quiet almost rural area but only 10 minutes or so into town. Clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and the most comfortable bed ever. And don't forget the fantastic sunset view!

Nicely decorated one bedroom apartment over garage on hillside in coffee growing area of Kailua-Kona. Very clean and comfortable with good communication from owners who live on site. Exploring info provided by hosts and travel guides in the unit. Full kitchen & gazebo both with a beautiful ocean view. The best bonus - coffee grown on the estate to enjoy each day. Spacious porch and beach needs all provided. No problems with wifi or T-Mobile phones. On a rural road so car rental is necessary. Groceries, restaurants, shops in town nearby. Frogs and birds gave a nighttime chorus but did not keep us awake!

The house and property are comfortable, pretty, and with great views. It had all the amenities, privacy and great communication with the host. It’s a bit of a drive into town down the hill which we should have realized going in. I don’t know much about the invasive coqui frogs there but those little guys do become extremely loud around the evening right as you might go to sleep, with earplugs (kindly revised by the host) and closed up windows it’s not so bad but it’s still not as nice as getting some cold air at night. They’re supposed to be louder on rainy nights which we had so maybe your stay is a little more peaceful.

What a gem of a property! You're close enough to downtown Kailua and the waterfront that it's easy to get there for beaches, snorkeling, shave ice, and the fantastic night dive with the manta rays, but far enough out of downtown that it's cool and quiet. Add in the gorgeous view of the garden from the large private lanai, the spectacular sunsets over the ocean from the private gazebo, and the welcome gift of HYPER local coffee, and it's the perfect spot for a getaway in paradise.

Overall a very pleasant escape from our traditional touristy Hawaiian vacations. The coquis are an experience to behold, but I’m not sure how you deal with them all the time. The steepness of the driveway and stairs were a surprise, but I made it. We really enjoyed the secluded feeling and will recommend it to friends. Mahalo

Wife and I had an amazing stay. The unit was clean, beautiful, and close to town. It was on a hillside with an amazing view looking over town with a nice patio out back overlooking the garden. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend to anyone looking.

We enjoyed this beautiful place immensely. It was very comfortable, clean and elegantly decorated with original Hawaiian art and quality furnishings. We were provided with everything we needed, including beach chairs, towels, umbrella and cooler. There was a lovely garden surrounding the lanai and covered outdoor area for sunset viewing. Donna and Robbie were warm and welcoming hosts and we much appreciated the generous treats they provided us on arrival. We would stay here again and again, a real jewel on the Big Island!

The property is so well maintained it seems like new, with an array of tasteful Hawaiian themed decorations. Situated a ten minute drive away from the Kailua beach crowds up into a lush tropical paradise. Have breakfast out on the back deck with the sun rising over the trees surrounded by colorful tropical plants and bird song. Very private despite being above a garage. Enjoy your Mai Tai and pupus at the gazebo watching the sun go down over the Pacific. Appreciate the added treat of being able to sample Robbie & Donna's home grown 100% Kona coffee.

Donna and Robbie's guest cottage was the perfect place for some much needed quiet time. The hosts were courteous and helpful as needed, and kept to themselves otherwise. The cottage was well appointed- the sheets were some of the softest I've ever slept in. I enjoyed the tranquility of the garden off the lanai, the songbirds, and the surrounding forested acreage. A particular bonus was kitty company- both kitties came to check on me a couple times of day, and let me have ample pet time. The sunsets from the gazebo were stunning, as Kona sunsets usually are. This was a fantastic break from my normal Hilo life. Much Mahalo to Donna and Robbie! (Oh, and their coffee was pretty darn good, too)

In this time of fear and uncertainty we hear many stories of coming together, kindness, love, and compassion. Sadly, this is not one of them. On March 13 when we left our home to visit Hawaii there were no cases of the COVID-19 virus in Alaska or Hawaii. We arrived to begin our dream vacation to celebrate my retirement from teaching special needs kids for thirty years. As the days progressed the homeowner made easy requests such as respecting their social isolation and no contact with their three cats. We were happy to comply with all of their requests. We had been following the COVID-19 situation on the television and were making arrangements to return to Alaska earlier than we had originally planned. On the evening of March 23, while sitting on the lovely gazebo watching the sun set, the homeowner began yelling from the main house lanai, “Get out of my house! Go home!” We moved into the apartment when I began receiving texts. This is one example “Please go home. Get on the next flight. Forget your mileage awards and get smart. You are jeopardizing our community’s medical resources for our residents here. Vacation over.” Our family had worked hard and saved for this special trip. We were hurt by her harsh, uncaring words. I would not recommend staying at this woman’s home. We were made to feel very unwelcome in this very difficult and frightening time.

Property was as described, immaculately clean and prepared. The lights were on and door open as per a prearrival text. Coffee plants growing on property along with beautiful flora plantings. Nestled in Coffee plantations is this very comfortable and inviting unit. The view is spectacular and the nightly frog and bird songs is soothing and unique. We loved our 4-night stay. The unit is very stylish, just the right touch for an island vacation, with lovely pieces of furniture, art, and accoutrements. Loved the layout, felt spacious and comfortable inside, and the lanai and gazebo were bonuses. Robbie and Donna are so gracious and generous. They offered to lend us gardening tools to tend my grandmother's gravesite in Hawi, which was very much appreciated. We will tell our friends about this picturesque spot in the charming Holualua community. Mahalo nui, Robbie & Donna!

Cabin was immaculate, and just the right size for two. Lots of sunlight, lots of fresh mountain air,( never slept so good!), with great views! The lush greenery was beautiful to my winter weary eyes! To only negative was that being just off the busy Mamalahoa road dictated that we had to climb into the car to get our daily walk in! Our host were generous with their time toward us, and were helpful in our day to day planning. We loved the Big Island!

January 2019
Great views of ocean from kitchen and bedroom. Nicely appointed kitchen. The tv needs to be upgraded as well as the furniture. The living room chairs are very uncomfortable. The photo shown is the back side of the unit and from there is a view of the landscape, not the ocean.

We absolutely loved this hidden gem - it's beautiful, comfortable and well stocked, a true home away from home. The location is the perfect combination of being close to shopping, restaurants and beach access but is tucked away in a beautiful hillside neighborhood with absolute peace and quiet. As a bonus, there's a lovely and loyal old dog Shay that truly brings the 4-legged love were missing leaving our dogs at home. The apartment is exactly as pictured - comfortable furnishings, well cared for and has everything you'll need including beach towels, coolers and chairs. There are wonderful fans throughout the house including the large deck (we spend most of our time there) so it was breezy and comfortable any time of the day. The property is gated so we felt totally safe, never locked our car or the apartment - you will love staying here as much as we did (5 nights total). There's a wonderful beach about 20 minutes away on Kua Bay that we went to every day except Wednesday (closed) and lots good beaches just north of that. You're close to many good restaurants and shopping nearby in Kailua only 5 minutes away. It's also close to grocery stores and Costco. We loved that we felt like 'locals' and tourists at the same time and saved a lot of money eating meals at the apartment. It was easy and effortless dealing with Donna and a pleasure to finally meet her and Robbie. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and hope to stay here again someday.

This property is away from the tourist hustle and bustle, but not too far if that's what you are seeking. Convenient to beaches, shopping, and sightseeing. The accommodations are clean and comfortable, and the property provides all the comforts of home - just in a gorgeous tropical setting on private property. It is a wonderful place to relax, and the hosts are most gracious and helpful. Can't wait to return! I would highly recommend this property for your next stay.

We had a wonderful stay here in May. We are experienced in vacation rentals, and found this cottage exceeded all our expectations. The beautiful kitchen lacked nothing and the front load washer and dryer was a plus. We enjoyed sitting on the huge lanai overlooking a beautifully landscaped tropical garden. The paddle fans and open windows kept us comfortable night and day and allowed us to soak up the Hawaiian atmosphere in this very quite neighborhood. It was hard to believe the week was over as we drove down the estate’s curvy driveway for the last time to board our plane and leave. Say hello to Shay and Burbo…they greeted us every morning and evening.
