The house is located near the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. It's a short drive to almost anywhere on the island so the location is great. The hosts were vey polite and while they live upstairs, they don't make any noise and you would never realize they were home. They have plenty of necessities including beach chairs, umbrella, kayak, etc. The kitchen is well stocked so it is easy to cook your own food. The only complaint is the lack of air conditioning but that's not a big deal since it cools down a bit at night.

What a beautiful spot! A lovely unit, very clean, with a gorgeous backyard view off the lanai and a lot of nice, personal touches. We felt so welcome. It was a peaceful place to sit and watch birds in the mornings - so many birds! A White-rumped Shama was a regular visitor singing in the lime tree right outside. The hosts were so kind, and provided beach towels, chairs, umbrella, and cooler which were essential for beach trips. They live upstairs, but it felt very private and quiet. The kitchen has all the basics including coffee. We did a bit of cooking while we were there. The bed was comfy. I slept so well when I was staying here! The cane toads can get a bit loud sometimes, but on Kauai you're right in the middle of beautiful nature. These things - like the chickens! - are part of the experience. The location of this unit was perfect. Up in a beautiful area away from the hubub, but also not far from anything. It's a great place to explore the whole island from. Opaeka'a Falls is right down the road, and there are a lot of lovely little spots nearby to visit like the Hindu monastery and the chocolate farm, and the little Country Store. There are also many beaches nearby. Mahalo David and Lynda for a lovely visit! We would stay again.

We had a great stay. Had everything we needed, plus some beach towels and cooler for us to use. It is a drive in to anywhere which got a little annoying but no fault of their own. Great property.

Overall, the property is in good condition. Faucets in kitchen and bathroom sinks need replacement as they're almost at the verge of breaking. It was a bit concerning as we kept thinking we might break it.
Other than that, properly is located in a very beautiful area surrounded by a beautiful garden. Very private as there is a creek in the backyard.

The owners live upstairs so it was hard to completely relax. The cozy home is unique, but you can hear everything upstairs for example their wake up time of 6:30 am. :)
Deep clean all the corners from cobwebs.
Adjust the check out process. The 10 am check out felt early. There was a bit of a rushed and uncomfortable feeling as we planned our exit. Surprised the owner to stood outside while we packed the car. We left before check out.

I really liked the property. Very cozy and comfortable. Gorgeous landscaping / views all around the house- you feel like you're in the jungle! Loved sitting / eating out on the lanei and listening to all the sounds in the backyard. David was great- super easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous stay at David & Lynda's guesthouse! We had everything we needed for a few days of island exploration, and wished we could have stayed longer. From easy access to quick communications and ready offers of local advice, David was very accommodating and pleasant to chat with. The rental is well furnished, spacious and comfortable. Waking up to a warm cup of coffee and sitting on the back porch, listening to the birds and taking in the beautiful surroundings was a highlight of each day! Centrally located, the hideaway makes a great spot for exploring all corners of the island. Mahalo 🌈

The property was just as advertised. Well maintained, very spacious, and lots of amenities. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with cookware, appliances, spices, coffee pods, etc. We cooked most of our dinners - the gas range was awesome! The washer and dryer were clean and easy to use. We also made use of the snorkel gear and plentiful beach towels. Good water pressure and hot water in the shower. The back deck was perfect for an afternoon drink and observing the birds/wildlife. The flowers, treats, and note from the housekeeper were very nice touches. The location was ideal for exploring the other parts of the island and nicely removed from the hotel/resort bustle. David was very polite and responsive to questions.

We received a warm greeting from our host and hostess, ,David and Lynda upon arrival. Our home away from home was everything we could have hoped for. Lovely living area, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable bed. Fully equipped laundry room but the special treat was the lanai overlooking the lush tropical landscape The home is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood behind the " sleeping giant" hill in the community of Wailua close to the sacred Wailua River on the east side of the island. A perfect location for exploring the "garden isle" About 15 minutes north of Lihue and it's abundant services including the airport A few miles south of the quaint town of Kapa'a which had two excellent natural food stores.
David and Lynda were available to assist us if we had needed anything including suggested activities. However, they had thought of everything including providing numerous guide books of which we availed ourselves and made many enjoyable discoveries during our two weeks on the island.
Could not recommend the "Wailua Hideaway" more highly.

My husband and I recently stayed here over Christmas for our tenth anniversary, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. It’s only a short drive to the airport, restaurants, and shops and is in the perfect location to travel the island.
We were greeted with beautiful fresh flowers from the garden and a sweet welcome note. You can tell David and Lynda go out of their way to make the place warm and inviting. We ran into them a couple of times, and they kindly answered our questions about the island and local area.
The apartment is lovely with two sliding glass doors that open to the lanai where you can relax and enjoy the lush tropical flora and listen to the sounds of paradise. The first thing we did when we woke up in the morning and got back in the evening was open those doors. It was the best part of staying there!
David and Lynda’s son owns Rob’s Good Times Grill which is in Lihue near the airport, and we decided to stop there to eat before our flight back home. They have a wide selection of beer and cocktails, and the grilled Ono fish sandwich was delicious! It looks like a fun place to hang out!

The apartment was as advertised and in a peaceful and quiet setting. Yes, there are roosters, but of course they’re everywhere on the island. The apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable. I enjoyed sitting out on the back lanai overlooking the jungle and the stream. I would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I had a wonderful vacation on Kauai and this was the perfect place to relax after long days spent hiking, SUPing, and snorkeling. It was tranquil, comfortable and clean, and beautiful Hawaiian bouquets greeted us in each room.

It was the first picture of the lanai that made me decide this was the right place for me. I was exhausted and burned out and needed a place to rest. For me, Wailua Hideaway wasn't the home base of my vacation adventure, it was my destination. It was perfect and that seat on the lanai and the gorgeous view from the living room, combined with long restful nights and clean eating have restored me. I'm so grateful for this perfect home away from home!
