This home is amazing - all one floor, very open and comfortable; the pool and patio are very large with great seating for many. Our family thought the most exceptional aspect of this property is its setting - very private, surrounded by lush vegetation and overlooking beautiful gardens. It is completely quiet at night and wonderful for sitting outside - no traffic, no aircraft and no sounds from neighbors. The owner of the home was extraordinarily helpful accommodating our arrival/departure plans and answering all our questions. The house was spotless and very well supplied. In short - it is a gem in every way and we are grateful we found it for our family vacation.

This property was perfect for our multi-generation family of 4 couples – spacious, airy, & super comfortable! The large state-of-the-art kitchen allowed ample room for our multiple "chefs" to prepare their culinary creations. We grilled out every night – no desire to go out when everything we need & want is right here! We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets on the lanai, strolled the beautiful grounds, and relaxed around the pool after sightseeing, touring, & shopping et al. Barbara truly was a premier host – she responded promptly to our requests & questions and included lots of helpful info on activities & local attractions, etc. We'll definitely stay there on our next trip to Kona!

Kona Blue was absolutely perfect for our 50th wedding anniversary and family vacation. Our family of 8 (ages 18 months, 15 yr old, adults ages 36-70) enjoyed the spacious floor plan. Everyone had their own BR and BA, for private and quiet times. But the large LR, lanai/pool area, and gardens allowed for wonderful family times together. The kitchen is large, well equipped and easy for several people to prepare food etc without feeling crowded. The location of Kona Blue provided amazing views. We spent every evening outside on the lanai. The pool was delightful, the sunsets beautiful, and the quietness of the area created a peaceful retreat morning, afternoon and evening. Beds were very comfortable, each BR had it's own A/C unit. Laundry room and kitchen were well stocked with needed supplies. Attention to detail, by the owner, was thoughtful and well done. I put hours into researching, comparing, reading reviews for a home in Kona that would accommodate my family and my pocketbook. Kona Blue was perfect! It did not disappoint on any level!

Kona Blue is a paradise house! The house is as described in words and photos. We enjoyed our stay everyday with breakfast cooked at home in the full amenities kitchen with the beautiful view of the swimming pool and the ocean. The house sits on a higher elevation so it is much cooler. We stayed from July 1-July 6 and had no need to use the AC with the doors and windows open. Our family of three generations enjoyed Kona Blue very much and “thank you” for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

This was the perfect place to celebrate retirement and anniversary with our adult children and baby granddaughter! Barbara was so accommodating and easy to communicate with, both before and during our stay. Her home is immaculately maintained, with plenty of room for all of us. We all enjoyed the pool. The location is also wonderful, with a beautiful view of the ocean. We had privacy, but were a convenient distance to stores, restaurants, and attractions.

This was a great property for our multigenerational family vacation. The three master suites were ideal for our three sets of adults and the extra bedroom was perfect for our toddlers. The house was very well equipped and the main living spaces and lanai were very spacious with plenty of seating. This property is not in the main tourist areas, which we liked, but is very centralled located to everything. Shopping is a short drive, about 5 minutes to Costco and 15 to Safeway in Kona. The host was always available by e-mail and was very responsive both before and during the trip. There is a local representative who quickly responded to any questions. There was a storm while we were and the local rep replaced a broken pool umbrella the same day. The photos are exactly what you get! We can't say enough about how great our stay was at this property!

From the moment we walked it we knew our stay at Kona Blue was going to be perfect. Barbara, our host was absolutely wonderful to work with throughout the booking process. Once we arrived we had a couple of things that did not work but Barbara got back with us and they were taken care of immediately. The view was amazing, kitchen was extremely stocked with anything we could possibly need. The grounds were beautifully manicured. We lived in the pool and enjoyed meals on the lanai almost every night. Each bedroom had its own bathroom which worked out perfectly for our family. Pool toys, beach towels, snorkels and beach chairs were such a welcoming surprise. Thank you! Hopefully we will stay again….. soon!

The yard, pool and view were highlights. The other “gem” is the owner, Barbara who makes you feel welcome with all her communications and genuinely wants you to enjoy your vacation and goes out of her way to make it happen. The bedrooms and bathrooms are incredibly comfortable, but the house is really about the amazing lanai, pool, and view. We loved everything about it. The location is great for privacy but easily accessible to most things on the island. Barbara was a fantastic host and we had an amazing time.

The beds are comfortable, as are the couches in the living room. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast here with about 8 family members and the kitchen is very well stocked for all your culinary needs. I don't know how to say enough about how fabulous it was to stay here. There are also plenty of brochures & local magazines of all the fun things to do when staying in Kona. That is very nice to have, as there really are a lot of things to do while on Hawaii Island. The home is located in a nice, quiet, safe neighborhood. It's close to the airport, town and even Costco is just 10 mins down the road. Communication with both the owner Barbara and the Property Manager Crystal were prompt and personable. My family and I were in town for a wedding and stayed at this property for 8 nights. The property is less than 10 minutes from KOA, 15 minutes from Ali'i and 15 minutes from Kua Bay. There were plenty of amenities included (including beach chairs and tons of kitchen supplies) and we truly felt comfortable there. It was so hard to leave! The pool and the view from the lanai are absolutely amazing. The neighborhood is quiet and the landscaping impeccable.
Barbara was in contact and reachable before and during the trip. We were even able to secure a late checkout which made the end of our trip so much easier and more relaxed. We truly, truly appreciate the accomodations and the memories we were able to make there.
Would definitely stay here again if we're ever back in the area.

This home was absolutely amazing. The home was private, with a beautiful yard, spacious rooms, and a spectacular lanai. Everything you might need for a relaxing vacation is here. It was great to wake up in the morning and enjoy a coffee on the lanai. My favorite part was watching the sunset by the pool - pictures don’t do it justice! The grill area is also great for making food for the group.
I stayed for Ironman and while the location is a bit of a drive (~20 minutes from the start), it’s away from the hustle and bustle of Kona town so I found it perfect for relaxing before and after the race. Traffic was definitely manageable during the busy time and I’d love to stay here again both during Ironman or another time.
I especially have to commend Barbara’s patience and flexibility for scheduling as I needed to reschedule my trip twice due to Covid. Barbara handled these issues with ease and was an amazing host! We would love to stay again!

It was great to wake up in the morning and enjoy a coffee on the lanai. My favorite part was watching the sunset by the pool - pictures don’t do it justice! The grill area is also great for making food for the group.
I stayed for Ironman and while the location is a bit of a drive (~20 minutes from the start), it’s away from the hustle and bustle of Kona town so I found it perfect for relaxing before and after the race. Traffic was definitely manageable during the busy time and I’d love to stay here again both during Ironman or another time.
I especially have to commend Barbara’s patience and flexibility for scheduling as I needed to reschedule my trip twice due to Covid. Barbara handled these issues with ease and was an amazing host! We would love to stay again!

Spacious air conditioned rooms. Gorgeous view. Well manicured grounds. We found the property ideal with its away from bustling town life yet within easy driving distance location. Wonderful place to wind down after a full day of activities. Dozens of pool and beach accessories. Would definitely stay here again!

I cannot say enough good things about our stay in Barbara's home! My husband and I and our 4 kids (ages 15-21) stayed here for 9 nights. I had done a ton of searching and what stood out to me about this home was the lanai, the pool & the view, and that there is A/C in the bedrooms. The lanai and the pool were amazing and we had our meals out there every day. This home is in a quiet neighborhood, and we loved not hearing any noise (except for the nightly frog song) :-) . It is very peaceful just sitting on the lanai and looking at the water.
And the A/C in the bedrooms is SOOOO necessary! It is humid and warm in the house during the day, even with the windows open. But the bedrooms stayed nice and cold and were perfect for sleeping. We had friends that stayed in Kona the same time that we did, and their house did not have A/C and they were miserable. They had to buy several fans just to stay cool at night. Not at this house! The beds were comfy and all of us slept so well!
The house was stocked with everything you can think of for a good beach vacation. There were beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, coolers and swim toys. Not having to buy these things saved us a lot of money! Quite honestly, it really wasn't that much more to stay in a 4 bedroom home than it was to stay in 2 hotel rooms. So we went with the home so we could have the space to spread out . Having our own space made all of us happy! We had tons of room for our very tall family.
Another thing that I loved was the stocked kitchen. Besides all of the pots/pans/dishware, etc, you have the option to use the spices or things left behind by other guests. We were super happy not to have to buy salt and pepper and other spices and also that there was a big unopened box of pancake mix and a syrup - bonus!! That may sound like a small thing but food in Hawaii is way more expensive so little things that you don't have to purchase are a treat. There is also a refrigerator with ice and water in the door. We had brought our own insulated water bottles and refilled them to use while we did all of our adventures. I highly recommend doing that so you can have cold water wherever you go!
We used this as our home base and drove all over the island. The farthest we drove is 2 hours away and it was no problem. I HIGHLY recommend staying here! Barbara was easy to work with, quick to reply & I am very impressed with her and the whole process. We had the BEST vacation of our lives!!

Our family’s first trip to Hawaii. We started with a week on the big island at this lovely house. We rent a lot on Vrbo and this place was in the upper end for quality of where we typically stay. Overall great kitchen and centrally located to many things we were doing (fishing in Kona, many ray night dive, shopping in Kona, hapuna beach state park … etc). It is a 2 hr journey to volcano national park so just know that going in. AC is dicey but we were not uncomfortable any nights. Grill is phenomenal. Only thing we weren’t really prepared for was in summer months the mountain gets a lot of clouds and rain from early afternoon until sunset. This happened almost everyday and the locals said it is a summer thing so I think it’s common. Not a deal breaker at all because if you drive to the bottom of the mountain it’s Hawaiian sunshine and lovely :). Closest gas station and grocery store are at the top of the hill. We did morning hikes up the hill each morning. It’s about a mile and a half up and strenuous unless you are an athlete but doable. Favorite part was how peaceful and quiet it was almost all day and night long (minus the roosters in the morning lol). Overall great place. Great communication and great price. Would definitely recommend

This house was perfect for our family (5 adults, 2 kids ages 10 and 6). There was plenty of room, and we loved the fact that there were 3 master suites! The kitchen was great - good quality pots, pans and glassware (you don't always get that with VRBO properties). We grilled out every night. The outdoor space, including the pool, was wonderful - plenty of room for adults to relax and lounge while the kids enjoyed the pool. We appreciated the boogie boards, snorkel equipment and chairs/umbrellas provided - so handy for beach days.
Barbara was a joy to deal with - she was very responsive and had great suggestions for places to eat, things to do, etc. When we were technically challenged by the TV, she got back to us really quickly and we got it resolved.
All in all, a great place to stay and relax in Kona. It was a great fit for us! Mahalo, Barbara, for sharing your home with us!

The pictures don't lie. This property is gorgeous! Breakfasts on the lanai overlooking the ocean, jumping in the pool after returning from sight-seeing jaunts for the grandchildren was wonderful and the whole house is just lovely (and very well-supplied from food staples to pool toys to beach towels and chairs). Really, everything you need for a wonderful vacation!
And the owner of the house is so attentive to your needs....she even helped us plan a "renewal of vows" ceremony on the property. It was just the 7 of us family members and she helped by pointing us to Costco for buying leis and a musician for playing the ukelele on one of the lawns. (There is also a really large lawn that the grandkids played soccer on) Kona Blue is the best!!

We have rented many VRBO's over the last 20+ years, but this was our first time on the Big Island. We always look for private, large outdoor areas and private pool and this place had both--as well as beautiful sunsets and landscaping. The home did not disappoint. The weather pattern when we were there provided lots of sunshine in the morning and gorgeous sunsets, though afternoon clouds came in daily (not sure if this is typical or just our week). We are normally sun worshippers so this was unfortunate, but made us explore nearby beaches which was fun, though normally we simply relax at the pool we have. We enjoyed some great dinners at Jackie Rey's and Roy's Waikola Grill. Didn't love Huggo's despite recommendations (though the setting is wonderful). We loved how large the outdoor area was as even with cloud cover or drizzle we could be outside and soak in the view.

The property was stunning from the gardens to the ocean view this place did not disappoint! Spacious for my large family to not feel crowded, the kids loved the pool at all hours of day/night, and the house has everything you would need to feel comfortable and at home. The location was also perfect far enough to feel like you were a local but close enough to all of the major dining, shopping, and beach access you would want in the “tourist” areas. Would love to come back again!!

The space was perfect for my husband, our 7 mo old daughter, and our immediate families. We cooked almost every meal in the kitchen and loved our routine of eating on the lanai. The pool was fabulous and the perfect temperature. Proximity to Costco was great. We admittedly spent a lot of time in the home because of our little one — it was the perfect house and view to be “stuck at.” :)

The entire rental experience was fantastic. We are a family of 6 and almost always use vacation rentals opposed to hotels. Booking was easy. There was ample information provided pre-trip to help plan our trip. The property itself was fantastic. Amazing landscaping, comfortable beds, beautiful views, and of course the pool make this property worth every penny. We would most definitely consider renting again on a return trip to Kona.

This was our third trip to the Big Island. The second time on the "sunset side". The views from this house were impressive. The gardens (and wildlife) were a great addition. I've searched the area and its hard to beat this property and its location. It's in a quite residential area, but when your are at the house it feels like you are in a secluded estate. The pictures on-line are a good representation of the property. However, being there was so much more than the pictures promised. The owner and property manager were always available and a great help. As with most houses on VRBO they are not brand spanking new. You have to expect a little wear and tear, needing updates. That said, I would score this a 9 out of 10. I would not hesitate to return next year. Many thanks to the owner and manager for a great experience and a great vacation. PSH

Extremely convenient location. Everything provided for our needs. The kitchen is great.
The extra large lanai was very nice. We used the grill. The view from the lanai was perfect for not only sunsets but also seeing the moon in the morning!
The pool is perfect. The yard is amazing. So many trees and flowers. There is also wild chicken and turkeys roaming around. Making it a enjoyable property.
Plenty of space for all our groups needs. Very nice neighborhood. Good location to get to anywhere quickly from 2 main access roads.
Will for sure look to stay again in the future.
