4 families total 14 people stayed at this place and we all had an amazing time!! Communication with the owner went great and she was always responsive. One family couldn’t come to the trip but she worked out a refund for us by closing off one of the rooms. She even bought a new rice cooker for us!! Thank you so much for the great hospitality.

Check in and communication were flawless. The property was better than expected. Plenty of room for our large family with gorgeous views, enormous pool and well supplied kitchen. The town nearby was perfect for coffee, bakery items and local shopping. Nothing was far away and we enjoyed snorkeling, zip lining, hiking, and beautiful sunsets. The chickens on property were a bonus.
Local coffee shop and bakery were amazing. Every bedroom had a pod coffee machine but the only place we found to buy pods was Costco. They did have a drip coffee maker in the main kitchen. Laundry was $6 per load. We all agreed we would return to this same location in a heartbeat. Prayers for Maui.

When our family of 12 arrived at the Banyan Tree House, we felt as if we were at the heart of nature. The property was breathtaking with all of the colorful trees and foliage. A cute little Rooster and hen were walking around the place with their feathered feet. They woke some of us each morning to start the day early doing yoga , walking and looking at the mountains and ocean in the distance.
Our family had so many plans when we arrived here but our plans changed to staying here and enjoying all this place had to offer.
There were fruits, vegetables and beautiful foliage on the property. All of this surrounded the big pool, hot tub and outside shower, as well as, the house and four cottages. We immediately began relaxing by the pool. Noone wanted to get groceries for the grill but two finally did
There were two swings. One swing and lemon tree were hanging from the humongous Banyan tree.
The house had a large dining room, den, and kitchen. The three bedrooms had two beds, a kitchenette and their own full bathroom.
Each of the four cottages had a kitchenette, full bath, one to three beds and their own lanai. With the wind blowing and big windows open, we stayed cool and slept well in the comfy beds in the house and cottages.
This place has us already talking about coming back to Maui and staying at the Banyan Tree House. It was exactly what we thought of when we thought of Maui with its mountains, waterfalls, and ocean. Nature at its finest!

There was plenty of room to meet together, but also plenty of room for a large party to have privacy. We were surprised that the sun was down by 7:30 p.m. This led us to going to bed early & waking up early to the sound of many birds and wildlife as well as the chickens by 5:30 a.m. You should be aware that you need to bring your own coffee pods for the keurig & paper towels (1 provided). There is a large washer and dryer on the property with furnished detergent, but you are asked to pay $6 a load. There is no breakfast provided, but in Makawao just a minute or two away there is an outstanding bakery, Komoda Bakery. There is no air conditioner which took some getting used to. However, each room has a fan. By the time the sun went down it surprisingly was a little chilly. We opened the doors and windows and enjoyed the breeze through our rooms. The property is older, but is very clean. Our host Helaina & her husband live next door to the property & were quick to respond to questions & needs. The house is centrally located which made it easy to go anywhere on the island. We loved how relaxing & peaceful our time was at the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast and would highly recommend it!

As opposed to a traditional party, we rented this property for a long weekend and our entire family was able to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy time together! I knew it would be fun, but it surpassed my expectations. It matched our style and speed perfectly. The hosts were available and responsive to every question we had. A great base from which to explore beaches & the local towns. Helaina was welcoming & available if we needed anything. It was a much more authentic experience than staying in a resort or condo. We had an amazing stay with our friends/family the week of our wedding! The property is gorgeous and everyone had plenty of space to spread out! Our 12 person 3 generation group loved our time here. Space to be together, space to be alone, ping pong and games, a beautiful pool with an ocean view and a fantastic kitchen to cook in. Fun to be in Makawao and a great central location to access the Island. Wonderful hosts, too.

We had a great stay and the property was as described. I would have given 5 stars but the lacks of towels (2 for 2 and 3 beds- for a week) and the lack of enough blankets made us need to use beach towels we brought for showers and use blankets from rooms we didn’t use. Also, more info about amenities would have been helpful. There are kuerigs available but you cannot purchase pods in either Paia or Makawao and there are no filters with the drip machine. No problem… would have used a paper towel till I could but some, but there are no paper towels. Hot tub needed cleaning so we didn’t use. Pool was lovely and the location and charm of the property is lovely.

It was a terrific location and there was more than enough space for our group to enjoy family time together but also retreat to our own spaces. The pool and grounds were amazing. Loved all the fruit trees, rope swing, corn hole, ping pong, etc. Great location with easy access to Makawao town. Would definitely recommend!!!

It was a terrific location and there was more than enough space for our group to enjoy family time together but also retreat to our own spaces. The pool and grounds were amazing. The Plantation was an experience we couldn’t imagine. Temperatures on the side of the mountain were perfect as was the swimming pool. The central location couldn’t be beat The Hana highway was at our doorstep as was Haleakala.The only problem was the lush grounds were hard to leave.Thank you for making our 55 wedding Anniversary special. The pictures of the property do not do this rental justice. It’s a slice of paradise. The owners are prompt to answer any questions you might have. We had a group of 11 and there 2 units not used. You could not ask for a better setup for a large group. If I go back to Maui this is where I would stay. You can get to every place on the island in an hour. Loved it!!

The house was wonderful . That old age charm and comfort . Grounds are beautiful and relaxing . The pool needs attention and laundry area was not clean and was unkempt. There could have been dish towels in the kitchen and scrub sponges and better organized and equipped . Maybe put dressers in the bedrooms to put clothes into . All this said I would rent it again .

We rented the entire property for an anniversary celebration with 13 people. Each room had the perfect accommodations and space. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and clean. Don’t be turned away because of no AC. We needed extra blankets before morning! The home is surrounded by quaint small towns. Thank you for being such lovely hosts.

Pictures do not do this property justice. Literally heaven on earth and a perfect spot for our group of ten including discerning travelers and picky teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone to have their own private space (including bathrooms, hallelujah) but also plenty of space for completely relaxing family time. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you to our gracious hosts, we will most definitely be back.

Exceeded our expectations for our family of 13. Hostess Helaina was just the right amount of giving space and being present when needed. The property is beautiful! Just far enough to feel secluded but a close drive to beaches &.excursions. The pool & jacuzzi are amazing! We hope to return.

Our family of 14, including our children and grandchildren from ages 8-17, stayed at this beautiful property the week before Christmas. Our experience was excellent. Our hosts were attentive and thoughtful. The main house was large and well-furnished for our needs. The roomy kitchen was well-equipped, the dining and living rooms were big enough for us all to gather, and the family enjoyed the ping pong table in the sunroom, as well as the hot tub outdoors. We appreciated that each bedroom and cottage had its own bathroom, so each family (ourselves, our three children and their spouses, and the six grandchildren) had a private space as well as the large communal space in the big house. The three cottages housed two couples, while most of the grandkids stayed together in the third roomy cottage. The main house had four separate suites, so the remaining two couples and the oldest grandchild had suites to themselves, with the fourth suite unused. I especially want to thank our hosts for the bottled water and ice cream they brought to us when the city water main broke and we were briefly without water through no fault of theirs. The property itself is beautiful and restful. We highly recommend this listing for extended family gatherings.

We had a great stay at this beautiful property. The pool is great and the property is very inviting with plenty of room for a large group. The kitchen is very large with a great stove. The only drawback is that it could really use some new pots. They were in very poor condition which made cooking our thanksgiving dinner challenging. Overall the caretakers were very accommodating.

We stayed here with a group of 15 and had an absolute blast! Helaina was an excellent host, giving us plenty of privacy while still always being ready to help us out whenever we had a request pop up.
The property is absolutely breathtaking and the rooms were very comfortable.
One thing we didn't notice in the listing was that that is a hot tub! What a pleasant surprise that was!
Makawao is a cute town within walking distance and Paia is a beautiful beach town with small island vibes just a 10 minute drive away.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and were so very sad that we had to leave. 100% would recommend!

The house and the overall property was beautiful. The location was excellent and in close proximity to many of my family and friends that live very close by. The owners are very accessible as they live on the property.
Overall we had a very pleasant and memorable stay but for the amount of money we paid for our week long stay we would have preferred more privacy.

It's a huge property with large green backyard, plenty parking spaces, sparkling pool, and quite neighborhood. We are 4 families together, but each of us have our own privacy space. LOVE the spaces kitchen as well. Helaina and her family are super nice. Definitely recommended!!!!

This is a wonderful place for a family vacation. The main house is over 100 years old, but perfectly maintained with an updated professional grade kitchen. Pool is large perfect for lap swims or just being in the water. Clean hot tub. Spacious grounds . Beautifully landscaped. Owners, Helaina and John were almost invisible, but helpful and accessible whenever needed. Very sad to leave…

We had an amazing stay at the beautiful Banyan Tree. It was even more wonderful than the pictures. We were able to have room for all of our family and some. Oh he grounds are gorgeous with so many plants and flowers and relaxing pool and hot tub. We couldn’t believe how much space we had and how relaxing it was to be in Makawao country , a nice retreat from the beach and tourist life. The kitchen and dining room were also very spacious and allowed us to Cook for plenty of family. We would love to come back again !

Helenia is an amazing host and was very responsive with any questions we had leading up to and during our stay. The property truly is a beautiful as the pictures show. You won’t be disappointed at all. The main house is a century old and has such a great feel to it. There is soooo much room for everyone and the private bedrooms (each with its own coffee maker!) are the perfect amount of separation. My extended family and I were lucky enough to stay here and everyone had nothing but positive things to say. Thanks again Helenia for the amazing memory.

We love spending part of each Maui vacation at this garden gem! Very quiet, mellow, and peaceful. The cute cottages are surrounded by greenery, flowers, and enormous trees, and provide the perfect respite after days of upcountry exploration. Helaina is so sweet & kind, and we looked forward every day to her fresh and light breakfasts (dropped off at the door each morning). Mahalo for a lovely stay!
