Spread across a generous 2,600 square feet, this home’s ideal location puts visitors within easy reach of beaches revered internationally by surfers, swimmers and sailors. Not only is it a leisurely two-minute walk to the nearest waves, but it’s also just down the road from the world-famous Tunnels Beach, Kauai’s snorkeling nirvana. Venture further to experience the dramatic beauty of the Na Pali Coast, or just look out your windows at waterfalls trickling down Mount Makana.

You’ll have more than 800 square feet of covered, luxuriously furnished lanai (what some call a porch) surrounding the house, tempting you outdoors at all hours. Settle in to a deeply padded wicker chair to sip Kona coffee at sunrise, sip a lilikoi fruit smoothie in the afternoon or grill the catch of the day as the skies turn golden during the latest sunset in the United States.

Inside, the home’s open floor plan brings mountain and garden views into the combined kitchen, living and dining area, where you’ll routinely gather to recount the day’s adventures. On the breakfast bar, find a gift basket of local artisan chocolate, Hawaiian spices and discount coupons that will ease your introduction to favorite Kauai treats and adventures—ice cream, bike rentals and a catered dinner. Throughout the house, strategically located windows open to the cooling ocean breezes and bring a light, airy atmosphere to every room. Spacious bedrooms on opposite wings provide ample privacy for groups of couples, friends or families of up to six people. The 12-foot cathedral ceilings and multiple seating areas add to the sense of space.

You’ll immerse in a distinct island experience here. Original island artwork—paintings, carvings, sculpture—captures the tropical beauty. Each bedroom is arranged for comfort and convenience. The master suite has a king bed, walk-in closet, dressing area, adjoining bathroom and access to a lanai. An absolutely wonderful house in tropical location. The house is well stocked with everything you would need. They’ve thought of everything with all the little extras. The views of the mountains are breathtaking. The beach is a short walk / drive away. Tunnels Beach is amazing with fantastic snorkeling on the reef. This house is a little remote which we loved. Town is a short drive away with shops and restaurants. If we’re ever lucky enough to return to Kauai, we would definitely stay here again.

Like I said, we didn't want to leave. The owners and rental company have made every effort to ensure you forget about everything except enjoying this beautiful home on the beautiful island of Kauai. The rental agency was quick to respond to our questions and just a phone call away. Very impressed!We stayed in Princeville in 2018 and because of the immense flooding that year were not able to get over to this part of the island. I am SO glad we stayed in Haena. Even though it is a little farther, the one-lane bridges, the horse that grazes by the side of the bridge, the curving road along the coast, the little shop that opens at 10-ish and closes at 7-ish all result in a very quaint, relaxing and tropical feel. We walked to a local coffee shop every morning and sat watching the waves crash against the lava rock. Simply breathtaking! Just writing this makes me wish I was still there! WE'LL BE BACK!! Mahalo for a magical experience!

The views are amazing and the house is spacious with multiple sitting areas inside and outside. The crosswinds and ceiling fans keep the home cool and there are additional fans if needed. Sitting on the oceanside lanai in the afternoon provided a really nice breeze. The house was equipped with everything we needed for meals at home including a grill on the lanai. I can't wait to return to the North Shore and this beautiful home.

Roomy kitchen for a group to cook in with plenty of kitchen wares. We LOVED the outdoor shower with adjustable temperature for the water! Many windows and fans made for a great view and temperature in the house with lots of air circulation. The beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of towels for inside the house and chairs and towels for the beach. TV complete with apps for streaming, and great bluetooth speaker system. We appreciated the coupons and suggestions in the notebook at the house. It was helpful to call the vacation rental company to find out what was available in the kitchen. We highly recommend a walk to the public access beach off of Alamoo and Alealea. Great for snorkeling with lots of tropical fish and a few sea turtles. Walkable from the house with chairs, Kepuhi Beach. Lovely place, lovely stay.

Owners have taken very good care of house. Well maintained and up to date. Enjoyed the back porch. Just FYI...this house is in a residential neighborhood and does have very close neighbors that a driveway is shared. From porch literally looks down into someone else’s house and yard. Not that this is a con, but something to keep in mind of you are wanting a house with privacy. Also, the closest beach is not really useable. To get to the sandy area requires walking to the beach and then about a quarter mile up to the sandy area. Again also something to keep in mind if you are wanting to be close to a sandy beach.

The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. So much living space indoors and out! The beach chairs came in very handy as did the outdoor shower for rinsing off sand. We shall definitely return. Property Management was very communicative and made sure we had all details before and during. Much appreciated. If you are considering this property, please review where Haena is on the map. It’s extra convenient for the most beautiful beach on the island as well as hiking the Kalalau trail but you’ll be driving a lot if you intend to go to Canyon or boat tours from this side of island. We stayed on both sides so we could do it all without driving all the time. Mahalo for sharing your beautiful home.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love quiet spots of the North Shore of Kauai. This house was a nice house but our problem was with the management company. We called in advance to see if we could get an early check in and somebody was going to look into it and get back to us. Never heard back from them. We kept ourselves busy and arrived at the original check in time and the house was really dirty. Filthy bedspreads with sticky sauce spilled all over it and clearly not washed. Piles of dead bugs everywhere, used filter and coffee grinds in coffee maker, a used towel in between couch cushions etc. Not a happy arrival when you have to run to the grocery to get cleaning supplies and clean for 4 hours in order to sleep after a 14 hour travel experience. We called Kauai Vacation Rentals and received an apology and "I'll let the cleaning company know to be more detailed next time." Seemed rather insufficient if I am being honest. The location of the house is close to Tunnels which is nice but be warned that a couple of the houses that are next door look like junkyards with trash and broken down cars all over the property and lots of no trespassing and beware of dog signs. Personally, I I didn't feel comfortable letting my kids play in the yard.

We absolutely love it here. It is our 4th time staying in the neighborhood and we will be returning. The views from every window of the house were amazing. A few minute walk down small path leads the beach for a quick sunset or a 15 minute or so walk to Tunnels. The house was perfect for two couples and we had everything we needed. Just wish we had stayed longer!

It is perfect if your goal is relaxation and easy access to beaches and hiking. Hanalei is an easy and pretty 15-17 minute drive for small groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc. We enjoyed this property because it was a little further out and planned our activities in the south as it is a two hour plus drive to hike in the canyon or go to Poipu etc. The outdoor shower was great and made it easy for post beach pre dinner clean up. Well stocked kitchen and great lanai you enjoy.

We booked the home the day of the avalanche in 2021, nervous about how that would work out staying north of it, and also nervous as there were no post pandemic reviews of the home. Thankfully we were overwhelmingly pleased by everything about the house! We were three couples and each room is soundproofed from the great room. The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen is nicely appointed, the views from the decks are out of this world. We often walked to Tunnels, using the provided beach chairs, and watched sunsets from our very close beach, as well as Ke'e and Kahalahala Beach (our favorite). The convoy made the traffic minimal during the week (in an already quiet area), so we think it was ultimately a blessing, even though we had to plan timing for leaving and returning to the north shore. The owners went above and beyond for us, offering a cleaning mid-stay since we were there two weeks, and gifting us with coupons as well as flowers and wine. The house is spotless and great care has gone into all of the details. We highly recommend and would definitely come back.

We could walk down to the ocean in a few minutes to a beautiful beach to see the sunset, get wet, or just relax by the waves. The house was great, nicely maintained and pleasing to be in. Beautiful views of the mountains. Everyone I talked to at the company was super nice and helpful. Our only disappointment was the TV situation. One remote didn’t work and we couldn’t stream anything on the main TV. Other than that it was a perfect stay. We would be back in a heartbeat

Great views, close to the Napoli Coast and Tunnels beach. About 15 minutes from Hanalei Bay.

Large, functional kitchen. two great decks/outdoor space outside each of the bedrooms too. even closer to the beach than we realized. perfect location for accessing Napali Coast hiking trails, north shore beaches, Hanalei, and Kilauea. It is far from Waimea Canyon area and west coast beaches, and that drive has a lot of traffic. Our only suggestion for the house would be updated bedding / new sheets for the master bedroom.

The home was as described and provided an excellent base for our stay on Kauai. The kids enjoyed exploring the tidal pools on the beach and petting the horse grazing next door. A couple of warnings however. This house is literally 2 miles from the end of the road on the north shore. 15 minutes to Hanilei and over an hour to Lihue. 2.5 hours to Waimea canyon. Also the beach here is interesting and fun but not really for swimming. Lastly the neighbors between the house and the road held a noisy outdoor party Friday night that lasted until 3 AM. Regardless we are glad we stayed here and had a great time.

The house was a perfect size for a larger group, we never once felt overcrowded. The location was a bit far from the activities we had planned (hiking Waimea) but overall we loved it because it brought us to the north side of the island which we would not have explored otherwise. Covid definitely restricted a few plans, but it was easy to adapt to other options with the wide variety available close to home. The walkable beach was amazing! We brought our morning coffee down there everyday and we’re lucky enough to see some beautiful rainbows as well. All basic necessary amenities were provided, including beach gear which is always a great addition. Overall, great experience and we’d definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Haena Sunrise. The place has a great view of the mountains. We enjoyed our mornings out on the lanai. Tunnels beach is a short walk away. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Hanalei, but close enough to go into town for meals. Great stay! We would love to go back!

We enjoyed our stay here overall. The location is great if you want to experience the more laid back north side of Kauai. The home is very comfortable and clean and the owners seem quite attentive. My only disenchantment centers on the lot location. The view proved disappointing versus my expectations from the photos. The lot is set back from a busy road. The lot in front was under construction and not attractive. Also, concerning for future renters is what might be built there. And the home on the side looked like a car lot and I am sure is disappointing to the owners. These location issues kept me from giving the home a higher rating.

We love the North Shore is this is a great location between Tunnels and the Napali trailhead. The house is new with a great layout, good sized spacious rooms, and is quiet. Highly recommended, we would return.

The Island and all it's beautiful beaches and areas to hike and Kayak are really first class, though you do need to be reasonably fit but they are described appropriately so easy to make a decision whether you are able to achieve them. The accommodation was absolutely fabulous every little detail was thought off. Location perfect very private with amazing views on the North of the Island. Only one negative the land next to the house became a camping car park we appreciated it was for a worthy cause but floodlights and a noisey generator going on over a long weekend did somewhat spoil the family party we had planned, had we been advised we would have rearranged for another evening. When we did ask if the floodlights could at least be pointed away from our bedroom they did comply as well as turning off the very noisey generator at a reasonable time. The point was I paid for privacy and quiet so that is what j should have had for the full 2 weeks. That said I could not fault the accommodation and the facilities provided.

Spent a week on the North Shore with friends, and we had an amazing time! This house was great! Shared it with another couple, so we actually had an empty room, since this is a 3-bedroom. Our friends were in two other houses a little further west. One was quite nice and closer to tunnels, but slightly more expensive. The other was a shared deal with other tenants downstairs, which our friends were not made aware of ahead of time, and with the amount they paid, they were very dissatisfied. We feel we got a decent deal with our house. The house was awesome! Very spacious and airy! The huge living area is very bright and opens to a separate lanai on either side. Great mountain views to the South, not much to the North. The house is up on stilts, as many in this area, which gives a great view. Our friends had a sliver of an ocean view from their house, which was kinda cool. They were more or less walking distance to tunnels. Their furnishings were also more modern. The furnishings in this house are not modern, probably from the late 90's, but very decent and very clean. If that's my biggest complaint, you know it's a pretty sweet deal! Oh, I forgot: the subwoofer was dead :( Everything else, the dishwasher, washer and dryer, beach and snorkel grear, were all great to have. The house is nicely secluded, we didn't have almost any interaction with neighbors. There is a beach path on the next lot over, but the beach here is lava, not really swimmable. Need to walk a good few minutes north to find the sandy beaches. Or better yet, go to Tunnels, or even better yet, Ke'e, especially for snorkeling. However, it's best to drive. We drove pretty much everywhere, though walking is doable as well if you're up for long walks. Pro tip: don't miss Hanakapiai falls! If you're up for a serious hike... Kauai North Shore was probably my favorite place in Hawaii, and I've been pretty much everywhere by now. I recommend Kauai, and recommend this house!

The house is very light & spacious, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It is set in the most beautiful part of the island, close to beaches & hikes and well away from resorts. Kauai at it's best!

Haena Sunrise was fantastic!!!. Easy getting keys from car rental place and easy getting to property and getting settled. Would definitely come back. Quick walk to beach and tunnels beach is less than a 5 min drive. Already wanting to book again. Loved it!!!!

Second time staying at this house so no question we love the location. House was clean, lots of beach toys (which was great for kids) and pretty much exactly how we remembered it. The only 2 suggestions I have for improvement are 1) dishwasher works very poorly, even after we tried cleaning filter; and 2) we had tea drinkers and no kettle!! Otherwise was great, thank you. And thanks to the owner Henry for the champagne and a few tips about beaches and where to go!

We loved this house! It was very comfortable and well equipped…everything we needed for a great vacation. The boogie boards, beach chairs, and sand toys got used every day! We loved all of the open space in the house and eating supper on the lanai. Thanks for the gift certificate for the Balinese dinner…it was exquisite! How nice to have such an easy-to-use laundry room for beach clothes.

We loved this house. It is so peaceful and beautiful here, and the house is quite open and airy. We loved sitting on the lanai (there are two) watching the sun rise and set on Makana Mountain. Each of the bedrooms and the primary living space all open on to one of the lanais, and the house is basically surrounded by tropical plants and trees with a backdrop of mountains. This house is actually quite large inside and easily accommodates six people with room to spare. The kitchen is very well-equipped with all of the cooking conveniences, and there is a gas grill on the lanai. We ate in almost every night because it was just so nice to come home from a long-day at the beach or exploring, and get to put our feet up in this idyllic place, have a drink, and watch the sunset. It takes only a couple of minutes to walk to the beach, and the water there is exactly like what you see in pictures--clear and so blue! Tunnels Beach, world-famous for snorkeling, is only a 2-3 minute drive down the road (we saw so many tropical fish and turtles!), and if you keep going a bit further, you get to the "end of the road", where you can start on some pretty cool day hikes or even overnights along the Napali Coast. There is also a great outdoor shower which we loved. I could go on and on. We can’t wait to come back to Kauai and stay in this home again! We highly recommend it!
