Welcome to Hale Keko (“The Monkey House”) located at the end of a cul-de-sac in the upscale Princeville resort community on the northern shore of Kaua’i. Quiet neighborhood, short walking distance to shopping or dining at the Princeville Center and Community Park. Short drive to Hanalei Bay or 'Anini Beach for snorkeling, surfing, swimming, and lounging. The perfect tropical retreat for family and friends, you will absolutely love this home away from home on the North Shore of Kauai.
Upon pulling up to the property, what immediately stands out is the thoughtfully manicured landscaping, the driveway surrounded by billowy palm trees, and the flora bursting with colors. The front porch is a nice place to lounge on the handcrafted solid wooden bench, absorbing the peaceful neighborhood milieu.
Once inside, the open-layout of the house welcomes you in immediately: beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, plentiful natural lighting. The wings of the house all flow together easily to coalesce in the living room and kitchen. Everywhere is evidence of the house’s themes of monkeys and turtles. There are all kinds of statuettes: a serene copper Buddha, a wooden carved dragon, a colorful glass parrot, and beautifully framed pictures of local spots on Kaua?i. A cozy tropical flower-covered bamboo constructed couch faces a flat-screen TV with cable and DVD player. There's at least three dozen DVDs to choose from, and beneath them is a shelf full of board games. The living room has seating for five, comfortably.
The kitchen features all stainless steel modern appliances. In the dining room, artwork abounds, and the theme is the honu (Hawaiian sea turtle). Three copper framed smaller works feature these noble creatures, and one larger oil on canvas piece paints a gorgeous scene of several honus.
The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, louvered windows, sliding glass door entry to the back yard, beautiful handcrafted wooden furniture, plentiful artwork, his & hers walk-in closets, and a bathroom fit for Hawaiian royalty; marble floor tiles and granite vanity, spacious Jacuzzi and separate walk-in shower. Tasteful artwork finishes off the ambiance to create an ideal place to start and end the day. The other two bedrooms have queen size beds.
There really are endless adventures to be had nearby: in addition to the world class surfing (and instructors), there’s horseback riding, helicopter tours, snorkeling, whale watching expeditions in winter, and much, much more.
Large backyard lanai features a barbecue and seating protected from the elements by an overhang. The back yard is meticulously landscaped. Hang out on the lanai listening to the exotic birds. The view of Kauai’s stunning "Bali Hai" mountain range is really spectacular.

Our party of four had a great experience with this rental. The communications with the rental company were prompt, professional, friendly, and clear. We would’ve liked a regular sized coffee pot vs the tiny hotel-room-sized one on site but that’s a pretty minor inconvenience. We primarily spend time on the North Shore so this location was close. Wylie beach is within walking distance (1.4 mi) but it’s a bit steep so it’s not for everyone. Neighbors were super friendly. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Although the house listed with WiFi in reality it is so slow so smartphone connection is 100x faster. These days you need WiFi for streaming, games and connection to work - for nomads and freelancers that may be actually working two or three hours a day. All three need high speed since everything else is available on your phone.
House connection is very slow. Amazon Prime video breaks all the time and even when it works, picture is very bad. Attempt to connect to client corporate network failed 100%, had to use phone tethering.

This is a beautiful home which met our expectations in every way for our week long stay with our mothers who joined us for the Thanksgiving week holiday. King Bedroom was spacious with walk in closet and large private bath; and two bedrooms with queen beds were perfect for our mothers.
The kitchen had all of the basics to cook a family thanksgiving dinner early and enjoy the left overs the rest of the week. Grocery store is close and we saved a great deal of money on meals during the vacation with cooking at home.
The home had all of the cleaning supplies to keep my wife happy maintaining a clean kitchen and house. The laundry room was welcome after our week long adventure on the other islands.
We played cards and enjoyed a few of the books during our down time. The furnishings were comfortable and inviting (felt like home). The internet and satellite TV kept us in touch with current events but we mostly explored the island during the day. Our best times together were when we visited a number of beaches during the day with Anini Beach being our favorite with ample parking.
The farmers market is a must if you spend a week in the house - purchased fresh flowers that adorned the house and fresh pineapple and vegetables were available just a few miles away.
VRBO local message updates on current events / activities in the community was helpful in planning our day - this is top notch service.
Our family recommends this home and will likely stay again in the future when the trade winds bring us back to Kauai. We will miss the live Rooster alarm clocks outside our window.

We loved our week long stay at this house. It is in a quiet residential area, that is very convenient to Hanalei. The house was well stocked and in great condition. Oceanfront Properties made staying here very easy and enjoyable! Their concierge, Mike is full of information and helping you book any excursions you may want!
