Lumahai is one of Kauai's favorite scenic beaches, popularized by the movie South Pacific. Most of this very long and wide beach is only suitable for walking due to strong currents. The far eastern section of Lumahai, where the rocks provide some protection, is sometimes swimmable when the ocean is flat during the quietest summer months. Even then swimmers need to be cautious.
