I absolutely loved this home. I felt like it had everything I needed and we created so many amazing memories with our time there! I hope to make this my home away from home whenever I decide to travel to the North Shore. I’m in love with the area, such an easy and beautiful drive into Hanalei, that was so convenient. The home is so quiet and private and listening to the waves all night is something I will miss! They were prompt with any questions or concerns we had, and were accommodating, no complaints here! We couldn't have been happier staying at King Hale. It was perfect for our family of 7. The 3 upstairs bedrooms all had stunning oceanfront views and everyone had their own bathroom. The teenagers loved staying in the downstairs guest house with kitchenette. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to prepare gourmet meals. We enjoyed stunning sunsets AND sunrises every day. We walked to Tunnels many days for awesome snorkeling (try the middle of the bay) and even though the beach out front is a bit rocky, you can walk a short distance to the right or left to get to lovely beaches for swimming/snorkeling. There is a restaurant at Hanalei Colony Resort (a 5 minute walk) that has great poke and a coffee place. The only trouble we had was a leaky AC unit in the second master but it was cool enough for sleeping without. Hanalei Bay is a 10-15 minute drive. This iconic town offers surfing, restaurants and shopping. The adults ate at Bar Acuda one evening and it was the best meal we've had in a long time. The property host, Kevin, was fantastic—very responsive and helpful. We forgot a suitcase at the property and he graciously retrieved it and helped us get it back promptly. Our family is already planning our next trip to King Hale.

The property is absolutely gorgeous. We were a family ranging in ages from 1-85. Between the upstairs spaces and the downstairs apartment everyone had a place of their own. The power did go out once but Kevin responded quickly. We learned that part of the house runs on solar so the refrigerator and oven came back on pretty quickly. We had a local chef, Thomas Ryan, cooking for us that evening. He just went with the flow... It was one of the best meals I have ever had in an amazing location.

Beautiful house and location our family loves. The beach right in front of us is a shallow reef, and we saw monk seal resting and turtle feeding right up the shore.The house is large enough for our family (8 adults and 2 kids). Loved the spacious Kitchen and living room. Would've liked to have a larger dining table, and the BBQ was a bit old and small for the house. They are doing renovation and couldn't accommodate some of the promised amenities, but Kevin was great at keeping us happy. We are sure to come back soon.

This is a beautiful home with incredible views from all sides of the house. We had our own beach right at our back door. The layout of the house is perfect. The home came with all the appliances you would possibly need. My only complaint is that one room has a pullout bed and I think it should be a full size bed. Some of the blinds were broken. However, it is understandable that replacement parts may take time. There was also a power outage for 20 hours, which we heard was a common occurrence. I think a large, beautiful house like this should have a backup generator. Some of the outdoor furniture also should be replaced. With all this being said, we enjoyed the house and would stay there again.

The location is amazing. We sat for hours and just watched the waves break on the shore. Very relaxing. Very quiet. No noise from neighbors or traffic.
15-20 minute walk on the sand to Tunnels Beach, which is great for snorkeling and just relaxing.
15 minute drive into Hanalei, which is wonderful.
20 minute drive into Princeville for a larger grocery store, which had everything we needed.
If you want modern, remote, quiet, and a nearly 180-degree view of the ocean, this is a very good choice.
The home has a modern kitchen and plenty of space for 3 couples.
All that said, the house is not suitable for occupying the 4th bedroom, which is downstairs, very musty and moldy. We wouldn’t want anyone to be in there. Same for the exercise room. Had to air it out before we went in there.
The property manager was extremely difficult to deal with in arranging this. They didn't respond to our inquiries over several days via text, email, and phone (they don't take phone calls, and their voicemail is full and doesn't accept messages). We got no response from them until we contacted VRBO and asked them to help. They intervened and the next day we got responsiveness, resolved our questions, and finalized the rental. Three days later someone called to return my messages, unclear why we had left so many for her to return, and asked what we needed. They were unaware that the matter had been resolved 3 days prior.
The patio furniture is unfit for a house like this. They should spend a couple thousand dollars and modernize it. We sat on 2 pieces that immediately broke. We lifted the cushion on one and saw it was duct taped. We notified the property host immediately so they wouldn't think we broke the pieces, and he said, "oh yeah, I'm aware of that." Not, "I'm sorry". Not "new things are on order and I'm sorry they didn't arrive in time for your stay, I hope no one was hurt." They know it's sub-standard and were doing nothing about it.
Something similar in the master bath, the shower head needs a tube replaced. Not a big deal, but inappropriate for what we paid.
Net, we wanted to get away to somewhere beautiful, and quiet, where we wouldn't have to worry about anything. This location is amazing. But we wouldn't stay at this property again. We'd stay nearby at a different property.
For the premium price, you get a premium location. But the property needs maintenance, and a responsive property manager. So the overall value equation is good not great.

King Hale has got to be one of the best places to stay in the North of Kauai. The kitchen is huge... with many working spaces available for many people to be preparing dinners. Great appliances, cookware, and the knives were amazing (usually in a rental, I find cheap dull knives). The wifi is very strong... six of us were all working at the house with great internet speeds. The house is equipped with many beach chairs, boogey boards, snorkel equipment, beach towels, and even a few pairs of water shoes. The concierge hooked us up with a message therapist that came to the house. The only challenge we had was that the house is fairly remote, and we didn't want to drive 1-1.5 hours one way to get to the South and west of the island for dinners or to boating and snorkeling tours out of Elee or Port Allen. We were in Kauai in March... a little too early for boating out of the North Shore. The cute town of Hanalei is a 15 min drive - shopping, grocery, and restaurants. Hanalei bay is a fabulous beach where you can take surf lessons and snorkel. Hanalei dining - Make reservations ahead of time for Bar Acuda and Ama, Postcards is nice too. Dolphin has a wonderful fresh fish market (get there early for already prepared foods like Poki and rolls. Dolphin restaurant is first come first serve dining- lots of variety on the menu and nice servers. We also enjoyed horseback riding
at Princeville Ranch, Golfing at Princeville Makai club, Kayak and hiking tour at Alii Kayaks (an absolute must), Mountain Tubing Adventure, snorkeling at Tunnels beach, hiking the sleeping dragon. There is so much to do on Kauai!

Fantastic home. Fantastic location. Beautiful waves everywhere you look. The beach out front is not really swimmable, but it's just a short stroll left or right to calm waters. Best suggestion is to rent 's a 4 minute ride to Tunnels and no worries about parking. Home is big, bright and airy. Great Kitchen. Hawaii Life very responsive. Only note, they need to fix some of the blinds that have lost the wands you twist to close them with. Small detail. GREAT TIME and our favorite place in all of Hawaii to stay.

Overall, we had a very good experience. The house was clean and well equipped; the location was perfect; and we look forward to returning. There are a few things that we suggest can be improved:1. Most of the glassware should be replaced.2. The locks on the sliding doors were hard to operate, and one screen slider needs repair.3. The house alarm system was not operating.4. The entry gate was not functional.These were minor issues that did not interfere with our stay. Again, overall it was great.

From the moment we walked in, we knew we made the right decision to stay at King Hale….the views from the home onto the beach were breathtaking! We came to celebrate our Anniversary, wanting someplace special, and we found it here. The location was perfect for long beach walks…Tunnels and Haena close by. Hanalei a short drive away for fun kayaking on the river.
We invited two other couples to join us and there was plenty of room for all of us. They were pleasantly surprised at their accommodations for their stay with us. The kitchen is perfectly set up with everything you could need.
The home is well stocked with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay….beach towels, sand toys, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, etc.
Our host Ian, was quick to respond to our questions…..we were thankful that the home has solar!
Our only concern was the next door neighbor who would fly his drone directly in front of the property. We noticed it on several occasions.
We have stayed at other locations on Kauai, but by far, King Hale surpasses them all. We would stay here for our next getaway to Kauai! Mahalo!

My family of 4 spent the week in this beautiful home and loved it! It is well equipped, clean and is in an amazing location. We were able to see the sunrise and sunset almost every day. We did have trouble working the main TV. Sometimes it worked and other times it didn’t, and not sure why. We did contact Ian, and he was willing to send someone out the next day, but magically the TV worked on its own so it wasn’t needed. We did enjoy walking to Tunnels Beach for snorkeling, walking for coffee or dinner and star gazing at night. Such a great place for star gazing! Would definitely recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet for relaxing.

This house exceeded our expectations, and we had pretty high expectations! The only complaint is the bottom floor does have a mildew-type smell, but my brother who slept down there said it wasn’t too much of a bother for him. Truly everything else about this property was absolute perfection, we cannot wait to come back!
