This property is just as advertised. Loved the Hawaiian decor and beautiful artwork. Condo was extremely clean, and well stocked with supplies. Really liked all the light dimmers-over the stove, dining room table and bedroom lamps. Appreciated all the nightlights throughout. Lots of comfortable furniture on balcony to enjoy the view. Loved having front loading washer and dryer in unit, as I was traveling with my son. Owner was wonderful to work with, and very accommodating. Looking forward to renting same property in the future.

We had a lovely stay in 312 and would (and hopefully will) book again in a heartbeat. We have stayed at Whaler before, but was hard with one bathroom. This unit was just what we needed with 2 bathrooms. Check-in/out was so smooth. We had a couple of minor things come up during our stay, but nothing at all that ruined our trip. The unit kitchen was very well stocked. Carol was very easy to contact and quick to respond to any messages. That is greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Clean, beautiful view and nice facility. Well supplied kitchen. The pull out sofa bed was uncomfortable , luckily they had a variety of air mattresses to choose from. Overall great stay and would recommend to others.

This condo is so close to everything in Kaanapali. Clean and great ocean view from the lanai. Bed is very comfortable which is important to me. 2 bathrooms and washer and dryer. Walking distance to whalers village and Hula Grill, our favorite restaurant. Tennis/pickle ball courts!

Perfect location with a beautiful view to watch the whales right from the balcony. Smaller pool but never an issue with chairs, can watch all the activity from there. Condo has a nice kitchen with all the basics that you need, along a with comfortable king sized bed. We enjoyed our stay.

Everything was wonderful but there was an issue with the cleaning from the last renters. Towels were left in the washing machine breaking it and the wet towels must have been there for a while as the stink was tremendous. The owners were apologetic and very communicative. We were able to wash clothes in the machines on the floor and outside the unit. This was.the one blemish on an otherwise wonderful stay.

It was a very nice comfortable staying at The Whaler, the pool area is lovely, we met amazing awesome people that go there every year. The bed was a little soft but we hung in there for the 12 days, and the refrigerator is a little tough to open I had to have my hubby help me. But everything else was just lovely having the doors open and having a fresh ocean air and hearing the sound of the waves is fantastic!

torn curtains, poor lighting, mold on tub ledge, feathers on carpet that had not been vacuumed. Housekeeper did terrible job and was told to leave when she went to borrow vacuum because of liability. My extended family stays at The Whalers all the time. This was our first time staying at this property. The grounds were very clean and manicured. The property is within walking distance of anything you could need. The condo was very nice and had everything needed for a relaxing and pleasant trip. I definitely would stay here again.

We had a fantastic time at the Whaler and in particular this great unit. We loved being able to walk down a few flight of stairs and be right at the pool, walking trail, shops, restaurants, or ocean. Although it was only the two of us (wife and I), we appreciated the extra room and bathroom that this unit provided. The condo was spotless and the big balcony provided shade all day long. We would definitely stay here again if available.. We did have a small issue during the check in process, but Carol was able to resolve the issue and is a kind and gracious individual.

Intended to spend Christmas in Maui with family but due to covid ended up being a shortened girls get away. The condo is a lovely updated whaler unit with incredible view of Black Rock. Two bathrooms are amazing with teenagers. Everything you could possibly need for a vacation is available from toys to beach chairs. I tried to buy an umbrella to add to the collection but none were to be found on the island. The kitchen is very well appointed to make anything you could imagine.
Carol and James are amazing hosts. Very responsive and supportive. Will definitely consider this unit again.

We’re have loved every minute of our stay here at The Whaler! It’s sitting on the best part of the beach, close to everything and easy to get to. The unit has snorkel gear and beach toys/boogie boards that we enjoyed using. Any questions I had were answered very quickly and Carol was very helpful throughout the process. We would absolutely come back here again and rent this same unit! Great experience all around!

This property is AWESOME! The condo is a true home away from home with a bedroom, living room and two full bathrooms. The kitchen is beautiful with everything you might possibly need. We packed tuna and canned salmon to make tuna sandwiches for the beach (and flight back) and salmon cakes. We also packed cereal (light packing) and individual creamer pods (for convenience).
The lanai (balcony) is huge and extends from the living room to the bedroom. You can see both the sunrise and sunset from the lanai. We didn’t use them, but there were several beach chairs available at the condo for us to use, which was nice.
The condo is filled with beautiful Hawaiian art and artifacts. Growing up on Oahu, these things brought back fond memories.
Carol and James were very responsive during the booking and continued throughout our stay.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The concierge will help with dinner and event reservations, and there’s a photographer you can book (hopefully there’s availability)!
If you know you’re going to the beach, I suggest renting a beach cabana early (I called before we arrived and secured a cabana for two days). They’re $75 (as of Aug 2021). Cabanas by the pool are (complimentary) first come first served.
We went to Safeway, which is a local supermarket that offers a nicely stocked liquor section with Hawaiian-brewed/distilled beers/liquors. It is close by. Sunday morning, we went to a swap meet (flea market) that was in the parking lot across from Safeway. I was able to get all my trinkets to bring home.
The grounds are immaculate and breathtaking.
Keep in mind that this resort is about an hour from the Kahului airport, depending on traffic. Rush hour is between 3-5:30 pm. We arrived at 2:40 and by the time we got our vehicle, we were sitting in traffic. If you’re starved when you land (after 11 am), stop by the Costco close to the airport for some ono eats (good food). They have several food trucks (as of Aug 2021). Radio station 103.3 instantly put us in “vacation mode”.
When we come back, we will definitely stay here. Cannot wait!!

This place exceeded all of our expectations. The condo itself is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The view is spectacular! We loved sitting on the large lanai and watching people jump off of Black Rock. The location next to Whaler’s Village is so convenient, with restaurants, shops and the ABC store within a 5 minute walk. We will definitely be returning!

We really enjoyed our visit to the Whaler. This condo is perfectly located and The Whaler amenities are awesome. The unit is nicely decorated and the kitchen is well stocked. It was really nice to have access to beach chairs and snorkel masks. There are also a couple of pool noodles, beach toys and we left 4 boogie boards for others to enjoy.
We enjoyed mornings on the lanai and evenings listening to the ocean. The unit isn't in direct sun so you aren't getting blasted, and on the opposite side from the pool so not too noisy.
The pool is smaller, but we weren't there for the pool! The gym is nicely set up as well. Beach umbrellas (and additional chairs) are available through The Whaler for $20/day or $40 for the week, Sadly, we didn't figure that out until the last 3 days, but loved having the umbrella once we got it. There is a nice little BBQ area outside of this building as well, and every night someone was cooking delicious smelling food!
Other specifics to this unit: nice ice maker in freezer, plenty of glassware, liquid hand soap in all the bathrooms, several games (we enjoyed playing Rummikub!), and many books available to read, One of the blow up mattresses had a slow leak (the teen didn't mind) and the washer/dryer are super small (no washing towels in them), but the free washer/dryer is just a few steps away in the hall and was always available when needed.
Lastly, Carol was easy to communicate with and always answered questions promptly.

The Whaler is the perfect place for a family to stay in Maui, and unit 312 is the perfect unit. We had everything we needed in the condo. We appreciated the games, movies, snorkel gear, chairs, and sand toys for the kids. The condo is amazingly quiet. Thank you so much, Carol, for sharing your place with us!

AWFUL AWFUL!! Simply tragic...that we had to leave, that is...
Let me say first that I do not do ANYTHING casually, certainly not vacationing for thousands of dollars. I do my research, and if **I** liked this place, it must be good!! Other than that, there is nothing more to add (but I will) to the other glowing reviews: 5 star unit, 5 star resort, 5 star beach, 5 star location, 5 star everything!!
This unit: we stayed here with another family who were on floor 7, and way back. Our view was stellar, there wasn't as much wind (higher you go, windier it gets) and they said, "Your place is posher than ours!" which does not show in the photos. My suggestion to owner is to buy a better camera or hire a professional coz the unit is MUCH nicer than these pictures portray!
We've stayed at the Whaler before in a HORRID unit. (Each condo is operated by different owners.) This owner OBVIOUSLY installed the best frig (husband cried when we left) and the best furnishings (slept like a baby, the 10 y/o was very comfy on the designer EASY PEASY blow-up bed & 9 y/o was happy on the comfy couch-don't pull it out, just sleep on it folded up) and best shower (fancy!) and even pots/pans. It's kind of sad when your vaca place is nicer than your home!!
The only thing the unit didn't have that we needed was a colander. I think you can live your whole life without a colander, so that does not deter from anything. That is REALLY the only thing I can say about this unit that isn't 100% positive!
To sum up: Top notch customer service from Carole, the owner, via email. She answered ALL my hundreds of questions, no matter how trivial. Top notch service at front desk and throughout unit. Beach, steps away from unit, is my #3 favorite Maui beach (#1 Napili, 15 mins drive away and #2 Kapalua 18 mins) with 9/10 y/o appropriate waves in summer and teen/adult appropriate waves in winter. (Although last Christmas they were fine for my kids)
JUST BOOK IT, you won't be sorry!!!!
Tip: Splurge one time and eat at the golf course Roy's...stellar!! (But expensive) For other days, just go to the Okazuya in Honokowai (on the way to Napili anyways) and have the ono fish or the spaghetti with meatballs (yes!) or the YUMMY fries. Hula Grill and Leilani's (pork topped nachos, please, and mai tai) are a mere minutes walk away. (Take the short cut by lobby, chain link gate into Whaler's Village Shopping Center, not as hot or crowded and faster)

we just stayed 13 nights in this unit. everyone thing was great with one exception. we had our 2 -20 somethings with us and they found the hid-a-bed very uncomfortable. BUT we found 2 airbeds in the closet and they slept on those the whole time. it wasnt ideal but they said it was OK because they were in Hawaii. They paddle boarded out front and the Whaler matched a cheaper rate of $25.00 that another place offered down the beach.
also the patio sliders were very tight and hard to slide, would suggest some wd40 or similar. we would definitely stay here again. Mahalo.

We lived in Hawaii for 3 years and have traveled back 13 times. This was our first stay in this unit at the Whaler, and it is the best condo we have ever stayed in. The location was quiet, the view from the lanai incredible, the condo beautiful and immaculate, and the owner kind and helpful. We will return to Maui and hope to stay in this unit again.

We stayed in this condo Aug 4th -13th and had a great time. We were very pleased with the condo and the Whaler Resort. The unit is very clean and decorated nicely. We traveled with our 15 and 20 year old sons and there was plenty of room. My 15 year old slept on the couch( didn't pull it out to a bed) and my 20 year old slept on the airo bed. The queen bed was very comfy and I loved the pillows(would love to know if you know where you got them). There was a much better view from the lanai than I had expected. Great view of Blackrock. There were beach chairs there that we did take down and use along with some snorkeling gear. The pool area and hottub were also nice and the boys spent quite a bit of time in the pool socializing with other guests. Everyone was very nice and in the vacation spirit. Having the Whaler Village next door was a positive for us. Lots of good places to eat and Yogertland! We had a great time and we definitely would recommend this unit.

This condo is even better than it looks in the pictures. It is beautifully decorated and immaculate. It is well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation. We stay six days and hated to leave. The location is fantastic - plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The Hula Grill and Barefoot Bar was one of our favorites. The beach is beautiful, the water calm enough for swimming and there is decent snorkeling right off the beach. We loved just sitting on the lanai and looking at the ocean . One night we didn't feel like sitting in a restaurant, so we went next door to the Whalers Village food court and got take out to eat on our lanai. The pizza restaurant makes a really good "plate". If you haven't had a hawaiian "plate lunch", this is a good place to try it. If you get tired of Kaanapali, Lahaina town is only a 10 minute drive away. I will definitly recommend Unit 312 to anyone who comes to Maui. I hope to go back myself sometime soon.

I rented this condo as an add on to my time share for two weeks. We absolutely loved the view from the lanai, and having a second bathroom was just heavenly. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, and the fully equipped kitchen wanted for nothing. There was even a wine fridge and closet with stemware, where the board games are located. Although we did not spend too much time in the condo, it was more comfortable than the time share that I stay annually.Carol, we want to thank you again for your hospitality. We will look for your condo the next time we stay in Maui...

This was my first VRBO experience and it was wonderful. My husband and I and two boys, ages 12 and 15 stayed for a week here and it was perfect!!

Stayed for 8 beautiful balmy/sunny days, enjoyed the relaxing & pleasant accommodations with nice Hawaiian artifacts that weren't overdone, "simple yet elegant"! The kitchen was nicely renovated with top-notch appliances with everything you would need to prepare a home-cooked meal right down to the place-mats. The wine fridge was ideal for our wine, bottled water and sodas. The view of the ocean and Black Point from the wide and spacious lanai was breath-taking. This unit is close enough to the elevators, washer/dryer and trash chute, but not too close to get all the foot traffic. The double showers in the master bath was awesome. I liked being able to the adjust the height of the showhead. The king-size bed was very comfortable and plenty of closet space and drawers to hold everything. The beach chairs for our use was an added touch.
The only problem I had was the overhead fan in the living-room wasn't working. We wanted to enjoy the fresh air from the lanai, but the air got too warm without the circulating fan, my solution was to keep the front door open & get a cross-breeze! Aloha & Mahalo for letting us enjoy your island home, it made our stay on Maui even more pleasurable!!!

Carol: we loved our stay in your condo this May. The remodel and view were better than the pictures and Kim was so helpful. Snorkled Black Rock in the mornings and relaxed at the pool in the afternoons. The Whaler staff were very welcoming and we loved the location. Your bed was very comfortable and the lanai was large and lovely. We hope to return to your condo next year.
