The location of the room is great. Great Views, the Owner does not provide toilet paper so be prepared to either buy or bring your own. The pillows are old and the Bed is a Murphy bed which is just ok. Just a mattress. Towels are just ok. The Whaler is a great place and a great location. We have stayed at the Whaler 4 times in different rooms.

We have stayed at the Whaler many times and love the location and the precision of the reservation. This was the first time we stayed in a studio and we weren't sure whether it would feel roomy enough. It was spectacular! Well appointed. Splendid view. Exceptionally well maintained. Gail's unit has a great view and the kitchen was wonderful for cooking and ready to go. It offered plenty of utensils, some spices and oil, and pots and pans. Oven was really good. Coffee machine was great. Very comfortable for sitting and chatting and serving food. All extras were there: paper towels, utensils, plates, glasses, ice, towels and beach chairs. Everything was all there. Very clean and comfy. I five-star recommend...

Can’t say enough good things about our stay. Comfortable, super clean & very complete, this unit is beautifully appointed. Everything was thought through. Extra TP, paper towels, sponges, even sandwich bags to take your lunch down to tha pool or the beach. Little things meant a lot, like a drying rack for our bathing suits & the small ice packs in the freezer . We didn’t use them, but there were even birthday candles if you should need them. Loved the green glass backsplash &!tiles in the kitchen & in the shower. All of this in a perfect location. We hope to come again next year. Such a thoughtful host! (One tiny thing: wish there was a reading light near the bed)

The Whaler is wonderful and accurately described in the thousands of positive online reviews. What we loved about this unit was all the thoughtful touches such as concealed lanai clothes drying rack, dimmer light switches throughout, beach chairs, cooler bag, ice maker, cooler ice packs, extension cord, and more. Not once did we think “I wish they provided one of those.” Everything was in good working order. We will happily return!

This was our second stay at The Whalers Condos. This time it was without family so we book this studio since it was just the 2 of us. Very large for a studio and even though the very comfortable king bed was a Murphy bed there was plenty of room so we just left it down all week. Condo is beautifully updated and looks just like the photos with a gorgeous kitchen that was very well equipped with spices, garbage bags, zip lock storage bags, coffee filters etc. And bathroom had hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner! The lanai had great views of the ocean, Black Rock and the golf course and mountains. Nice surprise to have 2 new Tommy Bahama beach chairs that recline and have pockets for drinks and phones; it makes the beach so much more enjoyable! Husband walked to the Kaanapoli golf course several times while I enjoyed either walking to Whaler Village to shop or just walked the beach and enjoyed the pool. Wonderful vacation!

Contrary to the description, this unit is tired. The view is excellent. The Murphy Bed did not function properly. The water pressure is kitchen sink was not up to standards. . The Whaler maintenance fixed these issues. There was not a functioning refrigerator. We were not notified of this ahead of time and while the owners were working to get it repaired, there was no guarantee when that would be done. The owners had put in a temporary fridge that was not able to hold a carton of milk standing up. We had good communication with the host and were able to move out of the unit and get a refund, The Whaler was extremely accommodating in finding another unit at a comparable price.We have consistently stayed at The Whaler for over 20 years and never had a unit like this.

Great updated studio apartment in a perfect location. The Whaler is older but well established. Right on the beach. Had everything we needed for a mom n daughter graduation trip and to join a larger group for a wedding next door at the Westin. The convenience of a condo is always win for us - breakfasts and lunches at our leisure and at our price point! Nearby restaurants are lovely - but expensive so be prepared! Evening meals were a treat with beautiful views and sunsets. Would definitely stay here again or in a bigger unit if more than 2 of us.
The property provides beach chairs (there were 2 in the condo also), some cabana style sunbeds were also available to rent, pool towels were collected from the beach hut and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The pool area is very basic when compared to the likes of the Westin but with the sand and ocean a stones throw away, I'll take it and pocket the extra cash for vacay cocktails!
One thing to note, the condo owner prefers communicating via your personal email and the use regular home mailing address for sending out information. This wasn't made clear at the onset of booking - so caused confusion and stress on both our parts as I waited for my "check in details" to be posted on the website, which never happened. I've stayed at many places booked online through similar sites and have never had to provide my home address before. Naturally there is a security issue here - "I was on vacation while someone ransacked my home" - is a headline screaming concern sadly in this day and age.
Having learned later of how the owner prefers to communicate I would have no hesitation dealing with her this way. Gail is kind hearted and wants her guests to have a perfect stay. She has been managing this unit for 37 years! She was very generous in allowing us to stay an extra night when our vacation needed to be extended due to unforeseen circumstances. I am very grateful to her for that. It's a lovely place and I'd highly recommend it to others.... :)

We had an amazing stay in this unit at the Whaler on Kaanapali beach. We had a wonderful view of the ocean and beach, as well as the mountains. Gail’s unit was very nice and comfortable and if we were in need of anything, her property manager was just a phone call away. It was a much needed relaxing vacation! 🌴🌺🤙🏻

Stayed here when the resort my conference was held at ran out of rooms, but I’m so glad it worked out the way it did. Location was fantastic. So conveniently located next to the main shopping/dining area and bus station. Property was smaller and much calmer and laid back than some of the other resorts nearby, which was a huge plus to me. Pool area can get busy, but that’s to be expected. Staff were so friendly. Gorgeous views of the beach from my unit. Unit was charming, clean, and had everything I needed. Easy communication with the unit owner. I would stay here again.

We always enjoy the Whaler and this was our first experience with a studio layout. We had a bit of a time with the Murphy style bed (sharp corners in the dark) and no bedside lighting for reading. Also could not see the TV from the bed. But very comfortable sleep. Bathroom is tight. Great view of black tock and Molokai and the right side of the Whaler to avoid the afternoon sun. Probably look for a different furniture configuration next time.

Thank you Gail for accepting us to stay in your fabulous condo over the holidays in 2021. This well-taken care, fully-stocked Studio Unit has an amazing view of the ocean, Black Rock, and the Maui mountainside. Gail is the BEST! She is kind, sweet, and really cares about Maui, The Whaler Staff, AND her clients. This was the first time that I have stayed in a Studio at the Whaler. There is lots of room, lots of amenities, and Gail does everything to make her clients feel very welcome!

My air conditioner stopped working at night and in the morning

Gail has created an amazing space. The condo was the most comfortable property I have stayed at. It had everything we needed: spices, pots/pans, ziplock bags, paper towels, cable, beach chairs. It had the perfect view of the ocean and mountain. What was even better was the view of the sunset every night. The balcony also had very comfortable furniture to enjoy the view.
The dishes were super clean when we got there. I usually feel the need to clean the dishes again prior to use, but these dishes were spotless! I didn't feel the need to clean prior to using them.
I highly recommend everyone to stay at this property! Thank you Gail!

This condo is in a great location, right on the beach and within walking distance of so many restaurants as well as snorkeling. The condo is well stocked with everything that you would need. We couldn’t believe how comfortable the bed was! Gail was very responsive to anything we needed and very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!!

We loved our week here - from the fantastic property, the views from the deck, the owner (Gail), the comfortable bed, and the well equipped kitchen, this place was perfect for us!! My wife and I just spent a week in this unit and couldn't be more pleased. The owner has gone to amazing degrees to ensure virtually all vacationers needs have been considered. In short, it was a mini home away from home. The owner responded promptly to all of our emails leading up to arrival. Once there a number was supplied in the event of any further needs. The bedding and furniture were extremely comfortable. The view from the seventh floor lanai is remarkable. To the west is a vast view of Black Rock, Molokai and the Pacific. To the east is a very nice view of the mountains. I highly recommend this unit and it's owner.

Very nice condo. Clean, spacious, and a modern kitchen with all the amenities. We stayed 7 nights and it never felt cramped at all. We had plenty of room for the 2 of us. I was worried about the Murphy bed, but it was very comfortable and we both slept well every night! The view from the balcony is perfect and sitting outside every morning with coffee was wonderful. Everything we could need was provided in the room. We recommend this condo if you’re looking for a nice relaxing trip to Maui.

We love Maui and have been coming for years with our 3 daughters! Now that they are grown, married with with families of their own, Gail’s Studio Condo was just perfect for the two of us! We both ohhh’d and ahhhh’d when we walked in as the condo is very spacious and beautiful! Just perfect for the two of us! The Murphy bed was easy to pull down at night and put up in the morning. It was also very very comfortable! We also loved that the condo is stocked with spices and other daily essential supplies like baggies and tin foil! And the location is amazing as it’s close to the elevator and it has a spectacular Ocean View! We also loved the welcome basket that arrived our second day as it made us feel very special! It had all my favorite Maui goodies such as Maui macadamia chocolates, Hawaiian potato chips and the best pineapple I’ve ever had! We highly recommend this unit and look forward to staying here the next time we are in Maui!

My husband and I recently stayed in Gail’s beautiful condo unit for our honeymoon. We had absolutely the most lovely time, and even though we were out and about most days, it was well worth it and a nice feeling coming back to this relaxing unit. We had a good view of both the mountains and the ocean, and enjoyed the scenery every morning with some fresh coffee brewed in Gail’s well maintained kitchen. The Whaler is really close to everything we needed for our vacation and Gail keeps her unit well stocked with a lot of supplies we didn’t have to buy ourselves. We particularly liked the grilling tools and used the barbecues multiple nights there. The Murphy bed was surprisingly comfortable, this was a SUPER nice addition to the room. Our very favorite part of staying in this unit was Gail’s wonderful hospitality. She had a little gift waiting for us upon our arrival to help us celebrate our honeymoon and we were very touched by her thoughtfulness. We both highly recommend staying here and will definitely want to stay here if we return to Maui in the future!
