Welcome to Moloa'a Bay on the northeast shore of Kaua'i. This is a large, secluded, pristine white sand beach that lends itself to coastal hiking, snorkeling, body boarding, surfing, shelling, swimming and sunbathing.

The beach bay is nearly ½ mile long. The name comes from molo a'a in the Hawaiian language which means "matted roots." Paper Mulberry trees (wauke) once grew so thickly that the roots were interwoven. The Moloa'a Stream meanders through the valley alongside Moloa'a road and empties near the north end of the beach, which is backed by high cliffs. Uphill from the bay is the Moloa?a State Forest Reserve.

The Villa: This impressive home consists of three bedrooms, three baths, and 3,289 sq. ft. of living space sitting on pristine 2.5 acres of white sand beach frontage area. Moloa'a Bay was the site location for the TV pilot of "Gilligan's Island." This is where the USS Minnow and its crew originally shipwrecked. This may be as close as you will come to living on Gilligan's Island. Here is everything you ever dreamed Kaua'i to be! A perfect crescent sand beach and turquoise waters. Mystical Moloa'a Bay is located on the Northeast side of Kaua'i. Truly "Off-The-Beaten-Path" giving one the sense of an exclusive and genuine experience of the REAL Hawai'i. Moloa'a Beach has the least amount of rain of any north shore Kaua'i beach. It's perfect for swimming, snorkeling, picnics, sunsets and being away from the crowds. Annual average rainfall is 25.”

The home is fully air conditioned. A wrap-around deck provides 2nd floor views of the ocean and coastline along with dramatic mountain vistas. The well-manicured Estate grounds are verdantly planted with Hawaiian tropical flora. A thick hedge at the beach edge provides privacy and security. There is an outdoor shower near the beach access path.

The Cottage: At the south end of the property near the entrance is a detached separate 2nd story guest house consisting of 994 square feet of air-conditioned living area with 1 bedroom + den and loft/1 bath. On your return from the beach, shower off in the new outdoor lava rock hot & cold shower.
The cottage may be rented separately or along with the main home. The location is very private and cozy, exquisitely furnished, and fully appointed. There are ocean views from the cottage. Here you can experience the casual Hawaiian elegance that typifies the spirit of Kaua'i.

Property was outstanding and very well stocked with spices, dishes, Tupperware, etc which was very appreciated as we were cooking for a 10-person group. Best VRBO property that we’ve stayed at (out of many). The only problem was that we were notified that the stove wasn’t working properly on our arrival day and we didn’t get it working until our last day. Although we could cook in the cottage, which was a saving grace since we had already purchased all our food at Costco and there were no restaurants nearby, it was very inconvenient and frustrating. They did bring a hot plate over but it was wholly inadequate as a replacement for the stove. The property manager was in east communication but with no real solution. It was super frustrating for a property of this level and price point. Additionally the refrigerator wasn’t staying cold enough (ie in “spoilage zone”per the thermometer inside) and so we had to store perishables in the downstairs utility room fridge. Again - not the end of the world but annoying when you’re cooking multiple meals a day for 10-people over 7 days. I wish there had been some resolution offered during the week that would have recognized the inconvenience at least and even better would have been to fix the problems.

Absolutely beautiful views! Perfectly stocked kitchen. Wish it had 2 big pots. And the stove top didn’t stop working. Other than that absolutely beautiful relaxing stay!

Our family of ten was very happy and comfortable! Thank you! We will be back! We have been to Kauai many times, but this was our best vacation.

Our group of 8 loved these homes. Incredible location, everything we needed on site and an amazing experience. At times it felt like a private beach. The views and weather are incomparable, the home an amenities although slightly dated met every need or want. This was perfect for our group and i hope to.come back someday.

With young kids, it was nice to just spill out of the house onto the beach, pop up to the house for snacks, enjoy the huge yard for some non-sand time. It was a treat to cook at home and dine al fresco on the deck enjoying the stunning view. We want to come back!

Plenty of room in the spacious bedrooms and closets for everyone. The baths are slightly dated but very clean and functional. The kitchen is large and modern and well stocked with all essentials. The living and dining areas are wide open and perfect for gathering. The view from the house and large porch/ deck is spectacular and the beach is literally just steps away. The beach has great swimming and snorkeling. My brother and his wife stayed in the cottage and had exactly the same great experience. They had TV issues but the manager acted promptly to solve the problem. I don't hesitate to recommend this place and really hope to have the opportunity to go back again. If it's possible, the property is even better than it's description and pictures.

The main house and guest house arrangement was ideal for giving the various generations the space they needed. The main house has some maintenance issues with some of the bedroom fans hitting the light figures when they turn. We also got to know the landscaping crew pretty well as they were there each day.

Beach is sheltered so all the little kids could safely play in the water. Beautiful secluded beach and wonderful views. Kauai has a lot to offer and our property was a good home base to our vacation. I can even recommend the island trauma center highly.

The one area of the beach was particularly suitable for the little ones (with supervision, of course). It was nice to have sand toys and beach equipment available. The views were lovely and the area quiet. The kitchen was well-equipped and suitable for preparing meals for our large group. We had a very enjoyable time and would love to return to this location.

I loved how it came with almost everything you needed even extra beach towels. If we ever go back to Kauai we definitely want to stay here again!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Salt water is obviously destructive, but many issues we saw were not a result of that. The toilets leak, and seats are broke, PS3 did not work. Home sound system did not work. Ice maker did not work, a repair man came, but did not fix it, so I fixed it myself. There are more issues, but not enough room to put them all in here. Basically, the view of the ocean is great, but the house needs a bit of work, mostly simple things, so I am not sure why that is not being handled.
