When you book and invest in a vacation home rental, there’s always some nervousness about whether the actual house matches up to the marketing photos. This house is the Mecca of Awesome.
Combined with the cottage, our family of 12 had more than enough room to cohabitate. We enjoyed our morning coffee and breakfast on the deck. Every evening, many of us sat out on the deck, while some watched TV or played video games.
Kihei has a lot of great restaurants and shopping. You can also rent surfboard and other water sports items and go surfing or boarding on the beach. The water was warm. I would definitely recommend some beach shoes to avoid rocky bottoms in the water. And let’s not forget the turtles on the beach across the street from the house. So amazing. As I said, the Mecca of awesome. I would definitely come back with the family.
The host was wonderful and easy to talk to. Very accommodating to our needs. Good people.
What else can I say? We don’t want to leave.
PS-don’t miss out on Shave ice from Ululani’s. It’s like an ice cream sundae and snow cone in one.

Hoaloha Hale was the perfect setting for our memorable family rendezvous the week of Thanksgiving 2023! Oh, and for celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. The home provided lovely, authentic Hawaiian accommodations in a quiet tropical setting. We thoroughly enjoyed all that the home had to offer. Our group of ten ranged in age from 6 to 72. In Kihei we were within easy distance of many amenities and adventures, including just steps away from a lovely beach and beautiful sunsets and walking distance to a great coffee truck each morning. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer at Hoaloha Hale and spend more time together as a family enjoying beautiful Maui. Mahalo!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The house itself is stunning and in such a great location. You're basically across the street from beach access, and on the other side of the house is a great view of the mountain (sunrise was amazing). The house was very clean, the beds were all SO comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed or wanted. Chris was extremely helpful and was always available if we had questions, and made sure to check in before our trip to make sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. Seriously, if I ever make it back to Maui I will absolutely try to stay here again.

I can't say enough good things about this home, location and host! We were thrilled to be in such a beautiful location on the island. We were close to several grocery stores, fabulous restaurants and beautiful beaches. The home was spacious and had everything we needed for a large group of all ages. Chris was an amazing host. He was always available to answer questions and gave us wonderful recommendations to make our vacation extra special. I highly recommend this rental and hope we can get back there soon ourselves!

We were there to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary as they renewed their vows, also two of our kids just graduated from high school. The location of the house was in a great neighborhood and close to many things, many within walking distance. The beach nearby was beautiful! The house was stocked with everything (and more) that we needed! It was a beautiful house and cottage and gave us more than enough room for our entire family of 12! Chris communicated everything that was necessary and even helped with figuring out things to do and restaurants nearby. He had great recommendations! I do not have any complaints at all, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would recommend this house to others. I would also love to go back and visit sometime! Thank you so much for a very relaxing and fun vacation house for us adults and our teenage children! Mahalo!

This place was great. There were really no issues whatsoever. All of the appliances were top-of-the-line. The beds were comfortable. The place was extremely clean. Chris, the host, was amazing at communicating with us. The only issue, is that the beach nearby? It’s not really very good for swimming. That’s really not Chris’s problem, but it should be noted.

The house was amazing. I grew up on maui and wanted to show my mainland friends the island for my birthday. The house + cottage was the perfect choice for us. The open floor plan was great for get togethers and awesome for games when it rained one day. Check in was super easy and clean was a breeze. You are across from the beach with great beach access and perfect sport for those group sunset photos. you are also a short walk away from some great food and drinks like Three’s, lava rock and Paia fish market. Id recommend this house to anyone and one of my friends is already looking to bring his family back.

We stayed for six nights at this home, and we were 8 family members. We liked the very large kitchen, several people could help out at the same time. The table was enough for even more than us 8. The three bathrooms were enough, even when we came back from watching the sunset, and we were salty and sandy! We saw turtles and humpback whales from the beach, and enjoyed bouncing in the waves. The outdoor shower had hot and cold taps and this was nice for rinsing off! We used all the outdoor beach gear, great stuff! The location was central to all of our activities. With three different lounging areas, plus the very generous deck, we had room for all the different things everyone wanted to do. We didn't run out of wifi. The a/c was very effective and we closed the window blinds during the day to avoid heat gain. Loved the BBQ outside! We asked for and got a late checkout on our last day, and we were allowed to store our suitcases till 6 pm, so we could venture around without fear of our things getting stolen from our rental cars. Lots of personal care and attention from Chris, even restaurant recommendations! Thanks so much for making this week one for our family to remember forever! Mahalo!

Just steps from ocean & sand, this roomy house in a quiet neighborhood was centrally located in Kihei. The large kitchen, dining area, & deck really worked for our multi-generational group of 10, and there was lots of kitchenware and supplies. Bedrooms were large enough and beds comfortable. Our group made use of beach gear like beach chairs & boogie boards. Our host checked in with us many times to be sure everything was going well and that we were comfortable. Fabulous house, we'd love to stay there again!

We traveled with a group of 6 adults and 4 children and everyone was very comfortable and happy with the accommodations. The beach across the street is beautiful and of course Maui provided whales and turtles making it even more enjoyable!

This was absolutely perfect for an extended family vacation! The home is well equipped with more than just necessities, plenty of kitchenware for a larger family, lots of elbow room to spread out, and a bonus games/office lot area complete with video game consuls for the kids to enjoy. The host was very responsive and caring. We highly recommend this to anyone needing larger space.

Our family, 7 adults and 2 children had a excellent stay.
Location: short walk to the beach, easy safe walk down Halama street to the park where the kids could play. Convenient drive to supermarkets.
The house was well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment including a rice cooker and a grill on the deck.
Another plus was a trove of beach chairs,boogie boards, cooler and sand toys at the house.
The house was very clean on our arrival. Two modern washer dryer units are available on the lower level of the main house.
Every bedroom has an individual A/C units and ceiling fan that made sleeping comfortable. (Hawaii humidity is high) although one of the A/C units for the main room was non functional awaiting parts.
Chris, the owner, was our contact person and was excellent! He responded quickly when we had questions and made efforts to make sure that our stay was comfortable.

This is a great property, just as advertised. Our extended family had a great 10 day vacation. The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and amenities were all great, and the best of Maui is easily accessible from Kihei. Chris was a responsive, helpful and accommodating host. The Halama House was perfect for our family gathering from Seattle, Tokyo, Boston and Temecula. The kids loved the loft and the adults had plenty of room for reminiscing and enjoying good food and drink. Our oldest son got married at Kukahiko Estate. Everything went beautifully and the house contributed much to the success of our trip.

Our stay at Chris' place was amazing. It had all of the amenities that we needed. My parents joined myself, my husband and our two little ones. The downstairs area afforded by parents a separate place to retreat for privacy and peace and quiet, while the rest of us were able to enjoy the upstairs living area and kitchen. We cooked some great meals in the well appointed kitchen. And there was a perfect spot for my husband to work away from the crew when he needed to. The beach, which is in walking distance, is absolutely magical. We found a spot were I felt comfortable allowing my little one to splash and my five year old snorkel where I didn't have to worry that they would be smashed by big waves. We snorkeled with the turtles there, saw amazing coral and fish and relaxed on a nearly empty beach. It was perfect. The only thing is that if you need to keep your kiddos off the stairs, you will need to rent baby gates - one for the stairs going down and one for the stairs going up, and possibly one for the very top because the one in the pictures is not there anymore (they may have replaced because one did exist at some point I think). We definetely recommend this home for a special vacation.

We booked this property, including the cottage, to accommodate friends and family for a small destination beach wedding. The house worked out a great (other than the ice maker on the fridge not working). While the cottage was lovely, it was so close to the road that road noise (and rooster noise) was an issue for the couple that stayed there. Also the air conditioning in the cottage was not stellar, and there were some issues with outlets not working. The location of the house was great - walking distance to bars and restaurants and a nice beach. Overall, our stay was wonderful, but some minor issues should be addressed. I would not hesitate to book the house again, but I am not sure that the couple who stayed in the cottage would want to stay there again until the air conditioning is working better.

This house is perfectly suited for a large family vacation. Plenty of bedrooms and places for kids to hang out inside or on big outside deck. House is in a great location, convenient to everything, on a quiet street, close to the beach, nice safe places to walk/run. Well appointed with all the tools you need to cook and enjoy meals inside. We had an issue with little bugs inside the house, but not biting bugs. Owner was VERY responsive with any issues we had at the house. Highly recommend this home for your next Maui vacation.

This property was great for a large group. Lots of space to gather and visit and lots of space for everyone to spread out. The house was clean and had everything we needed it. Loved the 2 washers and dryers so laundry was done quickly. Short walk to a great beach where we saw turtles on the beach. This house is in Kihei which is a great location because it was a short drive to everywhere on the island. Would love to stay here again.

We were a party of 12 4 couples, 2 singles and 2 children 5 and 2. We had a wonderful time together. The property provided space to be together and space to have separate time. The pictures do not reflect the beauty and light of the property. Everything we needed was on hand or readily available nearby. We enjoyed walking to the beach, making sandcastles, boogie boarding, nearby shopping, walking to a local church and we even had a talent show on the property. Lots of good memories made there. I recommend it with no hesitation. Chris was great in making sure our stay was comfortable too!

For us, this house was an exceptional find. It was perfect for a group of grandparents, adult children with partners, and a grandchild to make lifelong memories and celebrate many important milestones. The house is spacious and very comfortable – everyone could find a quiet corner if they wanted to, or fill the rooms with fun. The loft provided a great, safe space for the two-year old in the crowd (as it has a decorative gate at the top of the stairs). The house is very well-equipped – great kitchen and dining/communing spaces, laundry and plenty of beach toys. The fans and air-conditioning were much appreciated. The outdoor showers for sand rinsing saved us from lots of house clean-up.
We went to ‘our’ beach, only a minute or two away, every day for sun, splashing, turtle watching and sunsets. The neighbourhood is quiet yet very central to getting around Kihei and travelling the island.
The host quickly responded to any questions and provided lots of tips for things to do and places to eat in the area. This truly felt like home for the week we stayed there. We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone seeking an amazing home in Maui! Mahalo!

Our family stayed here for our parents 60th anniversary. The home was clean and comfortable for all 10 of us. We enjoyed the location with a short walk to the beach. The beach was rocky and shallow so not the best place to boogie board or swim but seeing the turtles every night on the beach was a highlight.

Read the reviews -- all 5 stars! (Exception is a 4-star due to some bird poop on the deck. Really?!) This is a gorgeous home with extremely tasteful and comfortable furnishings, a large kitchen with everything you need for cooking (plus a wonderful grill and huge lanai), and more space than really needed for five adults and five kids. The cottage is larger than it looks in the photos, and the grandma (me) appreciated escaping to its lovely space and lanai when the day was done. Beach gear was highly appreciated, and the beach around the corner was great for long walks, paddle boarding, and sunsets. Excellent, quiet location for anywhere you want to go on Maui. And, Chris was an attentive and gracious host. My family and I highly recommend this property and hope to return again. Mahalo and aloha Chris!

This house was absolutely perfect for my family to celebrate my grandmothers 80th birthday! The kitchen was large and well stocked, which made it easy to make dinner for all 11 of us every night. I expressed to Chris that we wanted to make cocktails and he actually made sure that cocktail shakers were purchased and put in the house before we got there. The communication with him was easy the whole time and he had great insight into the area. The beach a block away from the house had amazing sunsets and turtles! Honestly, we could not have been happier with our vacation or choice of house. Thanks so much!

We loved this house and all its amenities. The casita was perfect for my elderly parents, and the loft was a great getaway for the kids. Chris was an excellent, responsive owner, and made sure we had everything we needed. Spending Thanksgiving in Maui with friends and loved ones was truly magical, and we are so grateful we found such a great home to come back to after our daily adventures. Overall this was a lovely house that accommodated our every need. Tall ceilings in many rooms, large and equipped kitchen, many bedrooms, proximity to the beach, supplied beach items such as chairs, coolers, etc. Lot's to love about this house.
We had a couple of issues with the house in our stay, but nothing critical and the owner helped us out the best he could. One of the electronic locks gave us issues, a faulty smoke detector went off, miscommunication with the cleaning company on when to prep the cottage... Nothing huge, and the owner provided great communication in dealing with these small issues and trying to make it right. These issues are not something I would expect to happen for a future guest; we were just unlucky (we had bad luck with our rental car too). So don't let that deter you!
Only wish is that we had a view of the beach, but if that were true, this listing would be more expensive and even more coveted. Sweet game room on the top floor for kids, but since we were all adults we never used it; too bad! Would definitely love to come back in the future!

The property is definitely as advertised. It was the perfect space for 10 people to be together but not feel like we were on top of each other. We shared great memories and the home was the perfect backdrop for it.
Chris is a great host very responsive and supportive when needed. We had a few minor hiccups that I wont go into because they don't change how happy we were with our stay.
I would definitely choose this home again for a group to stay in Maui!

This house was wonderful our family of 10 had a great time, making memories in Maui! First, the house itself is very spacious, the downstairs two bedrooms and separate living area were perfect for some in the family that needed their own space. There are double washers and dryers, which at first we didn’t think we needed but after staying a week, we totally needed them. The main floor has three bedrooms (master and two additional bedrooms. One major perk was that one of the bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs had configurable beds, which wasn’t in the listing, but the property owner asked before arrival if we wanted those bedrooms to have two twins or a king. Which was very helpful to ensure we had good sleeping arrangements. The kitchen is also on the main level, great fridge and cooktop, which we cooked several meals at the house. Given our family size of 10, the kitchen and HUGE dining table helped out a lot (Safeway grocery is very close and they deliver). The upstairs loft was an awesome gaming area and the kids loved the huge TVs! Each room in the house has air conditioners and they were great. The outside wrap around porch was very nice, especially in the mornings with the light ocean breeze. The house is only one block from the beach access point. We loved swimming in the ocean, even went out there on our last night to have one last swim (after sunset) and saw a huge sea turtle on the beach, very cool! There’s also an outdoor shower to wash off sand located on the cottage side. The house is located very close to numerous restaurants that were recommended (Kehei cafe, Three’s bar, etc). We used the house as home base and were able to do many activities during the day (Haleakala summit, zip lining in kapalua, surfing in Lahaina, snorkeling at numerous spots, etc). Lots to do and the house was great!!!

Well maintained main house and ohana suite. The kitchen was well stocked with pantry staples and kitchen appliances that we used daily (rice cooker, pots/pans, toaster, coffee maker, Vitamix). Plenty of space for the kiddos and adults to enjoy (3 separate common areas). Walking distance to town, park, and beach. The property manager was very accommodating and responsive with booking and checking in/out. Our family was talking about staying again before we even left the house! Highly recommend.

We had two families of 5 stay at this wonderful house. It was absolutely beautiful. Lots of space for everyone. We never found that we needed anything. The location of the house was ideal. Very quiet and across the street from the beach. Close to shopping and restaurants. Also, down the street from a great beginners surf spot with lessons and rentals.
The owner, Chris, was so helpful and accommodating. He walked us through the check-in process and continued to be available throughout our stay.
We felt so comfortable and "at home" during our stay here. The owners did a fantastic job with the house. This vacation was one of our favorite ever and this house had a lot do to with that.

We had a great time at Chris' Kihei property. The house was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. The location was perfect - the house is located on a quiet residential street, but was an easy walk to downtown Kihei, as well as an excellent beginner surf/ SUP beach. This was a perfect experience for my family. My husband and our two children (ages 19 and 3), my brother and his family, and my parents all stayed together and everyone had plenty of room. The location is convenient to everything and Chris was so helpful with check-in, restaurant suggestions, and accommodating travel changes due to Covid. Thank you!!!!
