We decided to try and save some money using VRBO instead of an expensive resort while on Maui. This unit had everything we needed with space to spread out a little. We didn’t do any cooking, but we did store some simple breakfast, beverage, and snacks in the fridge. The washer and dryer were great to take care of a week’s laundry we had accumulated while visiting other islands. The beach is not great, but convenient. Other nicer beaches are not far away. Overall I would stay again.

It was as beautiful as the pictures on VRBO. The owners were amazing about communicating during the deviation of Lahaina. We will be coming back next year.

Almost don’t want to 5 star so it’s available next time we come. Completely as advertised. Not much room for non-refrigerated food but that’s because it’s a well stocked kitchen. Did not need anything. Snorkel gear, ice chest, chairs, sand toys and umbrellas for the beach. Not the most comfy hide a bed but none are. Definitely will stay here again.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well maintained the resort property was. The grounds keepers were out early every morning cleaning the pool and other common areas. The location of the unit is close to the elevator, stairs and trash shoot. It is relatively close to the pool. We also liked that we could walk the beach to access the farmers market for fresh coconut water. I appreciated that it is centrally located on the island, so it is a short drive to most attractions and the airport.

My fiancé and I had a great time at our Sugar Beach Resort stay! We had a spectacular ocean view and the unit was equipped with everything we needed! We loved being central to everything in the island and the abundance of things in the area we could easily walk to. We would definitely come back!!

Excellent unit in every way and 100% as advertised. Our stay was one week and we used the functional kitchen every day and everything worked as it should. The kitchen had all of the tools necessary for most any meal. The resort had grills that were popular but we did not use them. The resort kept everything very clean and well serviced. We really appreciated the in-unit laundry; the machines were easy to use and worked very well. The bed was very comfortable, we are picky. The bedroom linens were of good quality as were all of the bath linens. The beach was a one minute walk from the unit and there were no crowds. We enjoyed long peaceful walks in the morning and even took a simple walk to our now favorite shave ice location (Ululani’s). We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very comfortable, clean, small condo suited best for a couple (or with small children) bc bathroom is connected to bedroom. Air conditioning is a definite plus. Kitchen is well stocked and convenient, with large fridge,freezer. Bedroom has ample drawer space for storage. No safe for valuables.
Electronic door lock is very convenient and always worked. Pool /grounds maintenance top notch. Tourist planner on site. Small cafe/bar had good food. Wedding planner/formalwear on site. Also massage.
Car definitely needed to go to better beaches, restaurants, stores.
New beach chairs needed, and the total face-mask snorkel sets left there are extremely unsafe to use.
Did feel taken aback when “maintenance men” knocked on the door wanting an answer. They should have identified themselves as pest control. We did not see flyers posted at the stairways of their spraying times. Appreciated prompt answers when we inquired.

Recently updated condo with well appointed kitchen. Everything worked properly and instructions were clear and complete, we had no need to contact the manager at all.
Central Maui location allows short drives to all edges of the island.
Watch whales from the lanai.
Stroll the nice sand beach for miles. Then stop on the way back for an Ululanis shave ice.

The Condo is nice and clean. The sunset view from the lanai is amazing. The modern kitchen have many applicances even the rice cooker. The unit has extra fans and cleaning products.
The condo is conveniently located in the middle of the west side of Maui, near many good places to eat and beaches to walk in the moring or evening. Thank you Chris and Patti

Very nicely appointed and clean with a well stocked kitchen and everything you need. Best sofa bed mattress ever! Clean central pool and merely steps from the ocean. Perfect location with easy access to restaurants, markets, and plenty of things to do. “Sandwitch” restaurant downstairs is great for lunch or a light dinner- don’t miss the MaiTai! Owners and property manager are easy to reach. We would definitely come back! Thx!!!

I can't say enough positive things about this rental. It has everything you could ever need or want right at your fingertips from extra towels/linens to every kitchen appliance one could ever need. The new appliances( washer/dryer and dishwasher)were an extra special touch to already great rental. Beach chairs, cooler and towels were also available for use during the stay. All linens and towels were high end hotel quality. Having had family members staying in a another unit on the property this was far and beyond better. They have truly put alot of time into the details that actually matter in a rental. Truly loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a memorable experience in Maui.

The condo is small...just for two people, and perfect for us. Looks like it was recently remodeled. The owners were very responsive when we had questions. Very comfortable bed and pillows. It's the nicest and best maintained property that we've seen on the south shore. There is a maintenance crew cleaning the pool and deck every morning at 6 am. The hallways are mopped daily. The airline chained our outbound flight twice, making it later each time. Our property manager easily accommodated us, allowing us to stay as late as needed. We couldn't be happier.

This was our first time in Hawaii and the experience was remarkable! Sugar Beach Resort is located on a nice stretch of beach that is a little more private but still close to many of the local attractions. Great bakery, shave ice and of course the sand-witch shop. But most importantly was the unit itself. The owner’s have updated this unit and it felt just like home. The owners make sure that you have what you need to get started on your stay away from home! Comfortable seating in living room and bed was comfortable as well. Kitchen stocked with anything you might need. We loved the entire experience while staying in this unit! We are spreading the word to our friends and family that might want to experience this little bit of paradise!

What a great unit! Our condo was updated, clean, and stocked with the basics. The view out to the beach and beyond was great. The location is centrally located if you plan to check out other areas of the island. The grounds, pool, and hottub were well maintained. And above all, Chris and Patti were very flexible, and great to work with when it was time to work around Covid and some health issues that arose.

This unit at Sugar Beach resort is updated and extremely well appointed. Everything we needed was provided for regarding appliances, utensils, pillows, towels etc. Liquid hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and some cleaning supplies were provided. The view from the lanai is lovely and overlooks the pool to the ocean. The queen sized bed is very comfortable. Plenty of storage space and lots of hangars in the closet. The unit was very clean on arrival. All communication with the owners was fast and friendly. Would strongly recommend this property!

The condo we stayed at was beyond our wildest dreams! It was incredibly clean and beautifully decorated! Plus, there were plenty of Beach toys (which my grandson loved) and beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella and even coolers for our time at the beach, which was less than a minute away. We could see the beach, the pool and jacuzzi right from our Lanai which was a real treat! We will definitely be back next year!!

Solid property that is centrally located, but the overall property/ grounds could use some TLC and a fresh coat of paint and some maintenance. The condo itself is great. We really enjoyed the updated and well stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, and all of the great amenities to the condo itself. We loved the comfy recliners, and all the great beach equipment. One note to the property owners - the unit was great but wasn’t cleaned well. We found trash, sand, previous visitors boarding pass, and some really dirty spots of the condo. All of the surfaces were otherwise clean and we really enjoyed the condo. Just thought you may want to know.

Chris and Patti were great to work with! We changed our dates a few times when we were initially making travel plans and they were incredibly flexible. The kitchen is well stocked (better than the other places we have stayed). Sugar Beach is centrally located, easier to go exploring the island than from the south or west). We loved that we could walk barefoot to the beach just steps away and walk along the white sand beaches any time day or night! We hope to return soon!!

Excellent location, so convenient to local restaurants, grocery stores and beach activity. The property itself is updated, spotless and equipped with every convenience one might desire.
The condo is on a beautiful beach and also has an incredible pool area, with grills and other excellent amenities. The other guests in the complex were quite Social and friendly. This place would appeal to individuals, families…well basically everyone.
The property owners made this a seamless process.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The property is super clean, check in was simple, views are gorgeous, and location is ideal.
Everything about the unit is just as pictured or better. Bed is comfy, towels are good quality, and the kitchen has everything one could need. We cooked a couple dinners and had every pot, pan, utensil, and dish we could possibly want. The shared grills are cleaned every day and are super convenient.
The hosts provide all the information you need for an enjoyable stay. They even have a couple snorkel masks and flippers and beach chairs.
Quite simply, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.

First I love the ocean/pool view from the lanai plus the sound of crashing waves. Their is attention to detail. Everything you need is available except a Keurig: kitchen tools, LG appliances, fins, full face snorkle masks, beach chairs, to go containers and coolers for the beach. Immaculate. Looks like pics. Mirror in LR allows you to see the ocean while preparing meals. Comfy swivel/rocking patio chairs. Short walk to pool, hot tub beach and outdoor grills. Quiet place of reguge unlike the row of condos in South Kihei. Marco the local property mgr is wonderful

This is a great apartment in a nice neighborhood. Extremely clean, well managed. We enjoyed our stay. Hosts are super nice and responsive. Beach is right in front of the property. Pool and hot tub are on the property. Family friendly. Also nice cookout area with several grills. I would highly recommend this property to anyone going to Maui.

We love Sugar Beach. The beach is wonderful. It’s away from the traffic and crowds. But, the property is in need of some updating. And, there is a big difference in the rooms. Some have been updated and are really nice. Others have taken a beating. You need to know which are which. Our family had three rooms and a couple were much nicer than our penthouse unit.
But, I repeat..we love Sugar Beach.

This will be our go to place if we ever stay in Maui again. The view, amazing. Cleanliness of the condo, amazing. Proximity to a pool and the beach, amazing. (By the way we snorkeled off the beach 2 times and twice we saw sea turtles!!! Out about 100 yards)
The condo is updated and we lacked for nothing.
And one of the best reasons? You are central to every part of the island to explore. Road to Hana, taking 30 on the north end,, Paia, Lahaina, Wailea...all short drives. I highly recommend this place and our hosts. Mahalo!!!
