The home was absolutely perfect for our family which includes our 3 adult children, son in law, daughter in law (engaged on the trip!) and granddaughter. We have been visiting the north shore of Kauai for over 40 years, renting numerous homes over the years and this home is now our favorite. The pictures on the website are beautiful, but honestly don’t do it justice. In person, the views are just magnificent. The backyard is amazing. The house had every little detail you can imagine. The on island assistant Mandy is the best. I had several questions for her during the week and she was very responsive and super helpful. A pleasure to work with. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we hope to return again next year!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The view was amazing, the house was clean and comfortable. If you’re like us, you probably picked this place for the view and it doesn’t disappoint. We also loved the part of the island where the house was located. The house was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but you do still have neighbors (including a goat!). The small beach you can see from the property is very close and easy to get to. Very calm and quiet beach. The beds were comfy, the towels were fluffy, the coffee grinder worked. Would recommend and would stay here again.

There is every reason to love this property! We’ve stayed in quite a few beautiful VRBO homes, and this ranks among the best. The scenery alone is worth the price of admission! The home, while not fancy (which we prefer for a casual, relaxed vacation), is very comfortable, wonderfully equipped and conveniently located to beaches for swimming and snorkeling. We had 3 generations of family here, and it worked out perfectly. The hosts have thought of everything. And, oh, that view!

My wife and I, along with our two adult sons, truly enjoyed our stay at the Sunset View home. This was a trip to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It was very roomy, and there was always a spot to get away by yourself for a while to read or just unwind. The views from this home are nothing short of spectacular. The back yard is large enough for young kids to run around on. Mandy is the manager, and she made sure any issues that came up were taken care of quickly and professionally. We thought that a pair of binoculars would be nice to use to over look the beach, cove and ocean. She provided a brand new pair, and I suspect they will be available for all future guests to enjoy. One son went on a successful pig hunt and brought part of the meat back to the house. He used the BBQ and Smoker to cook up a very nice dinner. We used the high quality hot tub several times while the sun set, very relaxing after a day of activities. Plenty of beach and shower towels. On our last morning there, we ate breakfast on the lanai, enjoying the view. All the sudden we noticed a large pod of dolphins, and spinner dolphins, putting on a show in the bay below us. We grabbed the binoculars and watched for about 45 minutes. It was like they came in to say good bye. I wish we could have stayed longer, but there is always a next time.

We have stayed at some special places over the years, but The Sunset House is exceptional. As soon as we arrived, we were surrounded by natural beauty that was beyond belief. Even after a week’s visit, the stupendous views remained spellbinding. The house itself is thoughtfully designed, filled with light, and spacious with different spaces to spread out and also hang out together. Everything about the stay felt very comfortable – the beds, sofas, and showers are all top-notch. The house is equipped with many thoughtful amenities such as all the beach and snorkeling gear. The kitchen is well-stocked and has everything you need for cooking. The outdoor spaces were comfortably furnished where you can soak up the incredible views from different vantage points. The gazebo was our favorite spot where we felt we had the front-row seats to Mother Nature’s show. Each sunset was magical with unimaginable colors accompanied by mesmerizing sounds of the ocean.
Mandy, the property manager, was always available, quick to respond, and very helpful. We were very grateful to experience the Sunset House. Thank you for an unforgettable trip, we hope to be back soon!

Relaxed beachy vibe. Perfect for 6 adults and 2 small kids. Gorgeous views. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Lots of yard for kids to run and play. Loved the river to the beach. We spent lots of time in the gazebo, and had a few fires in the fire pit as s’mores were requested. Mandy, the on island contact was always available to answer questions. Couldn’t not have had a better experience. Mahalo.

There are no words to adequately describe this property other than to say it is perfection! The views, the décor, the location, the outdoor shower (!!!!). There were eight people staying on the property and there was room enough that we were never crowded unless we wanted to be. I cannot wait to book this home again.

We spent a week at the Kilauea Sunset House and enjoyed every minute. The layout of the house was perfect for our two families with two different wings for the bedrooms. The house was fully stocked with everything we might need including spices which was nice as most rentals do not include the basics. Prior to our arrival, the owners provided a detailed list of where to shop for food, restaurant recommendations and sights to see. We loved the amazing view of Kalihiwai beach and bay and enjoyed watching the dolphins feed one morning and witnessed a spectacular rainbow one day. The property manager was welcoming upon our arrival and quickly resolved a hot water issue we had with the kitchen sink. We would highly recommend a stay here and we hope for a return visit in the near future.

Everything about this property is amazing!! The backyard is so much bigger than it looks in the pictures and it’s breathtaking. So much space to space out or to gather. The host was accommodating and attentive, and the kitchen was well stocked with necessities. The beds were comfortable and so were the several sitting areas inside and outside of the house.

The view is amazing. Coffee on the porch every morning, and getting takeout to eat dinner on the deck for sunset. The house is the perfect size for a group. Communication was stellar, the kitchen had every tool you could want, and the beds were comfortable. The beach down the road was gorgeous and uncrowded. Kilauea has good restaurants, a market, and a cool wildlife preserve. Hanalei is just 15 minutes away, the airport about 40, depending on construction. Seriously such a great place!

My family of eight and I have been to Kauai many times (I think 7?), loved every vacation home we’ve rented, and we ALL agreed this is the most fabulous house we’ve ever stayed in on the north shore. To get a sense of the ocean and mountain views from the hilltop upon which the house sits, look at the photos and then explode them in your mind’s eye. We couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the setting is. Add to that the house is beautifully furnished and lavishly stocked with everything we needed and more (boogie boards, snorkeling gear, etc.) for our stay. The kitchen is dreamy, and the various lounging areas around the property—the living room, the front entry “lounge,” the gazebo, the wrap-around lanai with it’s sumptuous chairs and ottomans—are insanely comfortable. Great communication with the hosts, and Mandy, the manager, was lovely to work with. Thank you to everyone who helped made our stay so wonderful! We will be back.

We have travelled quite extensively & would rank staying in this home as one of the most memorable experiences EVER!! The gorgeous views are what sold me. Being able to sit outside and take it all in - watching the surfers & whales was SO soothing and relaxing. It was perfect!! We very much enjoyed the hot tub in the evening & had a few lovely clear nights to enjoy the moon & stars. The house was very well equipped & quite lovely. The beds quite comfy. Liked how the bedrooms were situated as well (two were together, close to the kitchen & the other two were on the other side of the house). Made for a little extra privacy. The only small glitch was the construction next door, which periodically would cut into our peace & tranquility. Now luckily it didn't disturb us all that much but to give an honest review, I feel it should be mentioned. However, even if the construction was still there, I would NOT hesitate to stay here again!!! In fact, I REALLY hope in a few years that we come back again. We have been to Oahu, the Big Island and Maui. But would say that Kauai is hands down my favourite. And staying at this property on the north side of the island was a stellar decision.

My friends and family stayed for 2 weeks and wish we had stayed longer. The facilities were excellent and the views were truly amazing. The house was well supplied and the property manager was responsive and helpful. We had a wonderful time and hope to return soon.

We had a nice stay. The beds are very comfortable, the living space is spacious, the kitchen is roomy and has most of what we wanted. The views were fantastic and we could hear the ocean, and enjoyed watching surfers most days. The nearby beaches are lovely, and if you want a less congested area - you will be pleased.
We had ants in the kitchen, didn’t call the manager because there were ant traps throughout the house and ant spray in the kitchen. House would benefit from regular pest control.
One of the sliding doors does not lock. The manager knew and simply said it takes awhile to get parts??? Okay, but the listing says they care about our safety - that was more bothersome to us than Covid. We literally had no security for our persons or possessions. Construction workers are two lots away - all day - watching us come and go. The house would benefit (during the winter months especially) from more exterior lighting. We grilled two nights by flashlight. . . At least half of the lights on the gazebo were burnt out. We offered to replace them if management would provide them and she responded that she would have the handyman remove them. How would that help us?
There are NO ENSUITE bathrooms - listing doesn’t say there are or aren’t. One bathroom is out the back door, off the deck and not at all convenient. Really a 2 bath home.
For these reasons and more - it is a 3+/4- rating NOT exceptional.

We had an amazing time at this house with our family. The beach was are favorite beach to go to. Not to crowded and just stunning. We loved our evenings by the fire pit watching the sun set and them star gazing. This house is truly special in many ways. The outside shower was our family’s high light, everyone lined up to go into it. The WiFi is very slow but everyone says with the weather and location it comes and goes. This house had everything you would need to enjoy a big family vacation in every way.

We loved our week at this beautiful home. Super comfortable! Stunning views! We could even see ‘Bali Hai’ in the distance. Quiet except for a few roosters which added to the charm. Convenient wonderful beach with rope swings on the river! We loved the gazebo at sunset! It was the perfect layout fir two families with 2 bedrooms clustered with one bath. 2 laundry rooms helped a lot too. Tons of beach towels, toys and all the fixin’s. Thanks so much for a very memorable family vacation!

This property was absolutely perfect. The views were truly amazing. The house is not only beautiful and spacious, it’s very comfortable. Our party consisted of two couples, each with a young adult child. There were plenty of places on the property and in the house itself to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, cook ware, etc. The outside spaces were very comfortably furnished and the landscape was beautifully maintained.
The location was perfect for us because we wanted something somewhat near restaurants and activities but not in a crowded resort type setting. We had activities planned for the north, south and east shore areas and this property worked well for us.
The owners were amazing and provided a wealth of information about the area with very helpful recommendations. They stayed in touch with us prior to our arrival and the check in process and assistance while we were there was second to none. We would definitely return to this property the next time we visit Kauai.

Very well laid out property. View is worth a million dollars. House just works. It has everything that you would want as far as supplies. Stayed at many home rentals this ranks as one of the tops. They supplied a log for the fire pit. Had tongs and a spatula for the barbecue. Many lighters to lite the pit or the bbq. Lights at the qazebo. WiFi booster to reach the gazebo. Coffee as well as Splenda and sugar. Washer and dryer that works well and detergent. Plenty of trash bags and zip locks to pack snacks. Skewers for kabobing. The only minor issue is WiFi speed reliability. However this is a Kauai problem and not an issue with home.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt like we were staying in heaven. The views, sounds, and amenities were wonderful. Though we had a problem with hot water one afternoon, we called the manager and it was resolved quickly.
The hot tub is an excellent place to watch the sun set and relax with the sounds of the ocean. The provided chairs, umbrellas, and other gear came in handy when using the quiet beach nearby.
