Beautiful unit, stunning views, great communication from owner (thanks again for answering my questions so quickly!), and several convenient thoughtful accommodations (e.g., beach umbrella/chairs, cooler, an oscillating fan, insect repellent, laundry detergent pods).
We especially loved the incredibly comfy bed and the stunning views from the lanai!
Two things other reviewers noted that we agree are good to know upfront: (1) the kitchen sink is awkwardly small (could be challenging if you planned to cook often), (2) the walls to next door are thin. A crying toddler next door had a rough first night that was keeping us up but then we found “ocean sounds” on the TV made for a decent white noise machine and we were fine.
Changes at HBR (the resort) from our prior stays: (1) a NEW one-time $50 “check-in fee”. [it’s noted in the ad by the owner but I mistook that for the normal parking & resort fees I was familiar with]. (2) The pool bar is closed (sounds like a dispute b/w HBR and Happy Talk — no word on whether it will ever re-open). (3) They added a take-out pizza place—we didn’t try it but customers were plentiful and happy and it smelled good!
If you’re looking for a relaxing north shore Kauai stay at a great resort in a very comfortable, clean, well-apportioned unit with stunning views and responsive owners, and you don’t need a big kitchen sink, we highly recommend this place! Can’t wait to visit again!

Perfect place to stay in Kauai. The view is amazing. The beach is so cool. There is a trail you can take all the way to Hanalei Bay. The hot tub was great after a long day of traveling and hiking. The bed was comfortable. Its perfect!

Beautiful view, nice place, huge bathroom. Patio was lovely. Pool and jacuzzi are awesome and very close to the room. Foodland nearby for groceries, definitely recommend having a car for this area. Make sure you go into Hanalei town, so cute! We found this resort and the area of Princeville to be very upper crust and a bit snobby. Communication with owners was excellent and they are very nice!

The condo was located in a perfect place on the property, which is a great property. But I didn’t like how the restaurant was not run by the resort, it was all kind of a weird relationship between the condos and the resort but in the end it was a gorgeous resort. The shower was not great, you get what you pay for.

Beautiful location with beautiful views. Not the usual type of place we stay at, but it was a welcoming change with comfort and convenience. It’s a quick walk to the pool and restaurant/bar. The stroll to the beach is a bit steep, but we even enjoyed that too…and you could always call for a ride. The host/owners are quick to respond to any questions you may have. And of course coffee in the morning with that view is just amazing.

We just spent 2 weeks in this comfy condo in a beautiful and perfect location. We booked the place because of the photos of the view and were not disappointed -- it was like living in a 3D postcard the whole time! We even had a day with gorgeous rainbows just like in the listing cover photo. The condo itself was just right for the 2 of us -- king bed that was so nice that we had to drag ourselves out, full kitchen including dishwasher, convenient sofa/dresser, dining table, huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and the lanai added a lot of living space to the studio. The decor is clean and modern. As others have mentioned, the resort itself is, perhaps, not back to its pre-COVID glory (main restaurant and swim-up bar are still closed), but the staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. The on-site bar/restaurant which is only open 3-9 pm was a nice convenience and has the best view of any eating place on the island. Because of this, the parking was a little tight during that time period since people from other places came to enjoy it but free valet is included in the resort fee if you get stuck unable to find a place yourself. The pool is the most gorgeous I've ever seen and the hot tub is fun with waterfall and sand floor. Views from everywhere at the resort are beautiful. It's an easy, if a little steep, walk down to the private beach on Hanalei Bay (we are not super in-shape and did it easily). We also loved the north shore's beauty. I really could go on an on. :-)

The condo is the best of garage sale dishes, furniture and fixtures. The faucet is mismatched and way to large for the miniature sink. The is no stopper release in the bathroom sink drain. The shower fixture had one temperature, HOT. Could not get cold water from the tap for shower or bath. There was no anti-slip in tub/shower nor was there a bath mat. The were no storage food containers or plastic bags, the dishes and kitchen utensils are mismatched and well used. The condo is stuffed with furniture and has a lumpy well grooved bed. The bath towels were nice. Toiletries are minimal. Cheap Costco shampoo and conditioner and two miniature bar soaps provided. Beach gear was sand and salt stained. Obviously no one cleans it or even fresh water rinse. Use at your own peril.
The resort has nice grounds and landscaping. Beach access is not convenient. The resort doesn’t have a restaurant! The pool bar/snack bat is closed and the bar and grill is only open in the afternoon and evening. Calling it a “full service resort” is a misnomer. The business center would not connect and was useless. The front desk said “sorry”.
Overall we won’t stay here again.

Fantastic spot! The Hanalei Bay Resort is fabulous and this unit is well positioned, with easy access to the pool, fitness room and bar. The beach is about a 5-minute walk down a beautiful trail, or you can ask for a shuttle ride on a golf cart.
The resort refers to this particular unit as a "one bedroom," but be prepared that it's actually a studio. In any case, it's got everything needed, including a comfy king bed, and small but well-equipped kitchen, indoor and patio dining and a jetted bath tub. The place is tastefully decorated and the owners have thoughtfully included beach chairs and snorkel gear. If you want a central location from which to launch all your north shore explorations, this is it. If you want a private escape where you can stay put and stare at the view, this is it.

The unit is great. Photos are accurate, though I think the unit might actually be better than the photos. Bathroom is spacious. Bed is comfortable. The view is fantastic.
The property itself (Hanelei Bay Resort) is fairly nice. I do wish that the main pool had a normal bottom rather than a pebbled bottom. Makes it extremely rough. I tried to swim underwater briefly and scraped my hand on the pebbles, resulting in a pretty deep gash. All the same It’s a nice looking pool in a great location.
As others have mentioned, the swim up pool bar is closed, which is a bummer.
One main issue I noticed was the check-in process (with the resort) could be better. We didn’t get our room until maybe 30min past the check in time, and I heard at least two other parties dealing with the same thing at the same time. Maybe this is due to staffing shortages with cleaning crews…
Overall a good value for what we got. I would stay here again.

The condo was just as described. The view is magical. We spent every morning on the lanai with coffee, and almost every evening with cocktails just enjoying the view. The bed was very comfortable. Loved having the washer and dryer. We really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Cannot wait to come back!!

Well stocked kitchen with small appliances, allowing for meal preparation whether before or after a day of adventures.
Beautiful view to wake up to, we enjoyed our mornings having coffee while watching rainbows appear and Nene birds wander.
Full of all you need abs would want in a vacation rental.

The property was beautiful and had stunning views of Hanalei Bay from the kitchen to the lanai. I must have taken 50 pictures of the view and I'm a Kauai resident, but couldn't get enough of that view from the lanai. The condo itself was well stocked and very comfortable. This is the perfect location for a fantastic Kauai vacation. In particular, if you want to spend most of your time on the North shore, this spot is even better. Extremely close to all things Princeville, a short drive from everything in Hanalei, and a moderate drive up to Haena...and of course just an acceptable drive from all things on the rest of the island. My wife and I really enjoyed having access to all the amenities at the Hanalei Bay Resort and the room had everything we needed to make our stay a great one. The view from the room is worth the price of admission and then some. I have no doubt we will be back to Kauai again and we will certainly look into this rental again.

This unit is a small efficiency. The owners have added a lovely new & very comfy king bed. It has a magnificent view, short walk to pool & parking. Bathroom a bit dated & poorly lit. Shower is in a deep jetted tub so may be hard for seniors. The kitchen is tiny, only a bar sink, small stove, but had dishwasher & washer & dryer. Owner was very responsive to any requests.

We had just about everything we needed in this sweet little spot. The view is lovely and the geese off our lanai were charming. Beach is a healthy walk down the hill but you can get a cart any time. Pool and hot tub was lovely. Restaurant had poor hours but I believe that is the way of businesses on Kauai lately. Surprised that there is no bar during the day and no service at the pool. Again, that may be due to employee difficulties at this time. We loved it and may return!

Beautiful property. Good size studio. Barely clean. Lots of dust that could be easily wiped up. All surfaces needed cleaning, rug and floor needed sweeping/vacuum. Furniture on Lanai needed a good scrubbing. Closet was cluttered and couldn’t easily hang anything.

The unit was lovely, and had everything we needed to enjoy our relatively active week on the island. The view was wonderful, and the beach just a short walk away through the property. The location provided easy access to a variety of beaches (including a couple of "hidden" gems), rivers, hikes, and restaurants. Unfortunately, there was a fair amount of construction, as well as some tree removal, which created quite a bit of noise during the work day. The one drawback to the unit is the lack of soundproofing with the adjacent studio - out first neighbors were quiet, but the second set of folks had loud conversations and we could hear every word. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful resort and beautiful unit. Personally we would probably stay south in the winter, because we are not resort people. We spend very little time in the room and at the resort..we would rather be exploring the island, snorkeling etc so we found ourselves driving south for everything. But if you are a tennis or hang on your porch or pool kind of person,, this is an amazing place and I would highly recommend. Hosts were great and staff on site at resort was great.

We had a great stay - check in was fairly smooth at the front desk and the location itself is amazing. The room is a bit dated (to be expected, based on photos) but we did not spend much time in the unit since we were out exploring. Communication was super responsive - there was an item missing and we were able to get a replacement the next day.
Just keep in mind that the walls are pretty thin (this is a corner unit so we only heard the neighbors on one side) so hopefully your neighbors aren’t too loud while you are there.

Beautiful and relaxing resort, wonderful views, great lanai with view of bay, surfers and Bali Hai, comfortable place and very helpful and responsive owner. Great value! After living through the pandemic, this was a great place to escape to. Helped my husband fall in love with this part of the island. Definitely need a car to get to shopping and Haena but expect everyone coming to Kauai generally gets one for exploring.

Let me start by saying - I'd give the host 6 stars, but the resort staff 2.5-3 stars - BUT you might have a better time with them.

What an incredible spot hidden along the Hanalei Bay! The views are spectacular from not only the room, but the bar at Happy Talk, and don’t get me started on the view from the beach! If you go about 10 feet out into the water you can see the waterfalls on the left and it is just so beautiful! The swim up bar is closed, which is unfortunate - but the upstairs bar is still open and serves the coldest beer of anywhere else we drank on the island AND had live music every night 🌺 Dale was great to work with and we would definitely stay again!

We totally loved our stay. Dale was such a pleasure to work with. The condo was equipped with everything we needed and just the right size for us. The bed was very comfortable. We loved opening the curtains to see the morning sun and both breakfast and sunset were perfect on the private patio. The view was totally amazing! We enjoyed that our building was so close to the pool, desk, and Happy Talk. We took the golf cart ride to the awesome beach below and explored the nearby coastal path. It was an easy walk from HBR to Hideways pizza and the Makai grill at the golf course where we enjoyed a scenic golf cart tour. Don’t let the Hanalei construction keep you from visiting the rest of the north shore. We went back and forth multiple times without a problem when we aimed for the middle of the open time slot. We will always remember this wonderful 50th anniversary celebration.

Although there was some miscommunication with the cleaning folks, and it was not cleaned when we arrived at 5:30 PM, everyone was great about taking care of it and the host even paid for our dinner that evening. We loved, loved, loved the area and the property. The views were lovely as well. Some challenges with the roads due to the landslide, but then again, you can't control mother nature! All and all a great trip and stay. Thank you so very much!!!

Located in the Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville, this studio condo offers beautiful views of the amazing Hanalei Bay and surrounding green mountains. Access to the Bay was a short walk away. The resort offers golf cart rides down and back.

We had a great stay at Dale’s condo. It’s clean, comfortable and had the amenities you need for a stay. The view was breathtaking and it is close to the beach! The check in process was interesting at first the front didn’t have our names but had the condo reserved. I had to screen shot my VRBO booking and email it to the resort. I was concerned so I emailed Dale. He stated this has never happened. Once the resort received it in minutes they confirmed and gave us our wristbands, towels a map and the rest was a spectacular stay.

Great pool! At the time our our July 1, 2021 visit, the Ukelele swim up bar is open Thursday-Sunday. Happy Talk is still closed as well as the Activity Hut to rent beach chairs and gear. The view from Dale's condo is spectacular and it's really nice being on the ground level. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the lanai.

We were lucky to book this property fairly last minute due to a cancellation. Dale responded promptly and provided all the needed information. The unit was clean and perfect for our small family of 3 for 4 nights (our 9 y.o. son slept on the couch). The view of Hanalei Bay was incredible and I spent a lot of time on the lanai enjoying the scenery. The resort was very nice and my son loved playing in the pool. I was just bummed that the restaurant and swim up bar were closed during our stay. I would love to return here in the future.
