-All your culinary needs can be met in the cook's kitchen with its abundant counter space, up-to-date appliances and utensils. The dining room with atrium-like ambiance seats 8 people plus additional dining for 2 in the kitchen nook. The garden setting is private, peaceful and exotic.
-This Kauai home offers a perfect setup for a multi-generational family reunion.
-Mala Pua- the "garden" master suite is on the main level with a king bed and daybed, TV and DVD player. The spacious bathroom with a walk-in tiled shower offers lush garden views.
-Kumulani- (base of sky) is the vaulted upstairs master suite that captures majestic mountain views. It features a king bed, TV and DVD player, bath with tiled shower.
-The Hula Room features a double bed with a whimsical hula decor theme.
-The Blue Room is equipped with 3 twin beds. Two can be converted into a king size bed to meet your needs.

Pack up the beach equipment including mats, chairs, cooler, sand toys and have a great day at the beach. Poipu Beach Park offers a large grassy area dotted with swaying coco palms. There are picnic tables, play equipment, showers, restrooms, even a convenience store and restaurant across the street.

Included with your reservation at no extra cost you now have the privilege of using a nearby family fitness facility. The Poipu Beach Athletic Club (PBA Club), less than a mile away, is a wonderful facility for family & friends to be active, have fun and have a meal, too.
CLUB AMENITIES INCLUDE: cardio workout room, weight lifting equipment, exercise room (and classes), poolside table and chaise lounges, restaurant and bar and pool/hot spa with waterslide! Lots of games to play for young and old alike - 4 tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, basketball, badminton, volley ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, and more lawn games (all equipment provided!!).

$800 refundable security deposit (damage/loss) is required; An initial payment of $500 is required to secure the reservation. The full amount plus security deposit is due 60 days prior to arrival.
Our policy will vary with stays longer than 3 weeks.
Our holiday season extends from Dec. 17- Jan. 6 with a one week minimum stay (2 week minimum if the stay includes both holidays). We divide the season into two periods with some flexibility on dates and length of stay. For the first week (Christmas) we ask our guests to arrange their departure date to fall between Dec. 26 and Dec. 27. For the second week (New Year's celebration) we ask guests to arrive around Dec 28-29. This gives the option of 7-10 days for either holiday segment.

KAUAI ACTIVITIES:
Kauai Restaurants: Brennecke's restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner at the beach; good burgers, fish and drinks. They have a great crab meal for dinner. Don't forget Lapperts' ice cream for a real treat. It's fresh made in Hanapepe and definitely a landmark destination. They are located throughout the island: Poipu (just a couple of miles from the house), Kalaheo, and Kapa'a, etc.
Poipu Beach offers a sheltered cove called "Baby Beach" where toddlers play in the sand and splash in the shallow waters. A few steps away in the clear warm water, colorful tropical fish swim beneath as you just feet from the shore. The calm waters and gentle waves are enjoyed by swimmers of all capabilities. Experienced surfers can catch large-breaking waves further out beyond the reef. Brennecke Beach, at the east end of the park, is renowned for body surfing and boogie boarding.
If you bring your camera you may be able to capture on film a Monk Seal sleeping off a meal on the beach. Seals are protected so don't approach too closely.
Within a 2 mile radius of the house you will find three golf courses, some of Kauai's finest restaurants and charming island boutiques. When you venture beyond Poipu you will find a virtual paradise of activities: helicopter tours, horseback riding, river and ocean kayaking, whale-watching, botanical garden tours and much more, including the spectacular NaPali Coast and the Waimea Canyon (Grand Canyon of the Pacific).

The owners were great! Such aloha from owners. The poipu athletic club was a great hit with the family. Went to check out the honu (sea turtles) at the beach at night. There’s were 45 there.

This house was perfect for our group. My three girls stayed in the room with the three twin beds. my mom had her own room, my husband and I had the downstairs master with an extra twin and my 14-yr-old son and my 15-yr-old nephew had the upstairs master.The house was great and the furnishings were perfect! There were ample floor fans and ceiling fans in every room to help keep the house cool. The kitchen had everything we needed and once we stopped for groceries on our way from the airport we were pretty set for the week. The house is very close to Poipu beach which is a favorite resting spot of green turtles. Having access to the Poipu athletic club was great! We could visit the poll when we'd had enough beach time and the boys got to play an early morning game of tennis.

We were two families on vacation, and we loved the size of the home, and the fact that there was space for everyone. It’s a quick walk to Poipu Beach, and the wagon and beach gear were amazing. The kids also had a blast at the pool at the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Highly recommend and we hope to return next summer!

Jim and Julianna's house was the perfect place during our stay on Kaua'i! The house is beautiful with wonderful amenities like a well stocked kitchen and grill for cooking and lovely outdoor seating areas on the deck and in their gardens. The hosts Jim and Juliana were absolutely wonderful. They gave us a lot of useful information before we even got to the island. They have a beautiful home and let us use all the beach supplies including boogie boards, towels, coolers, chairs, noodles, sand toys, everything you would need! They stayed in touch with us and made it easy to rent from. The area is amazing, only minutes from the beach, restaurants, & shopping. Loved it and definitely want to go back!

This house has everything you could ever want for your Kauai vacation. I have been coming back to Poipu area for 9 years, at least 2 times a year, renting condos and houses. This is by far the best house set up that I've rented. The hosts are sweet and take care of their guests like family! We had a big group of family and friends and we all fit in the space perfectly. We had access to Coolers, boogie boards, beach chairs, books, games, TV, and a BBQ. The Poipu Athletic club membership that comes with the stay is awesome! Highly recommend this place and I've already booked next year's stay! Thanks Juliana and James!!

Ala Muku was perfect for our 3 generation family vacation. We were within walking distance of the beach and saw turtles every day. The pool and facilities at the Poipu Athletic club were a nice bonus. Kids loved the water slide and sandy play space. Good food and drinks here as well. The home is big and well appointed with everything we needed inside and out. Comfortable beds, lovely stocked kitchen, washer/dryer and lotd of books and games inside. Great lanai with plenty of seating and a grill and a garage full of beach toys including boogie boards and a wagon to transport them. We enjoyed shopping in Kohola and ventured out for snorkeling on Napali Coast from Port Allen and spending a day on Hanalei Bay. Would love to return.

This had to be the Best VRBO we have ever experienced and we have stayed in many. There were seven in our party three couples and one single. We utilized all four bedrooms and we found the sleeping accommodations excellent. The beds were top notch, good ventilation and amazing views and outdoor ambiance. There was nothing to want for. This home was not only lovely but was also so well equipped in every way. All you needed were groceries and personal items. The icing on the cake was a 15 minute walk to the beach and the same to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Fine and casual dining a short drive or walk away. Shopping also a short drive away. Last but not least our hosts Jim and Juliana were lovely accommodating individuals. We all agreed this was one of our best decision’s and trips we have had.

I cannot say enough good things about Muku Place. Everything was prepared for us to enjoy our vacation. From beach chairs, towels, coolers, noodles, and a wagon for the beach to the beauty of the house and landscaping was 5 star. Jim and Julianna were so kind and helpful, too. Everything we could have wanted was available at Jim and Juliana's home. All beach/pool equipment we needed, a wagon to transport the items made it very easy. The kitchen was well stocked also. The bedrooms were comfortable and well furnished.
We only rented a car for the beginning of our stay, so drove around the island seeing many of the main attractions. Then we just walked everywhere we needed to go. Nothing was more than 1.5 miles away. This was fine and was what we intended going into the rental. We walked to the athletic center, the beach, and shops with our 5 year old twins.
Jim and Juliana were very friendly and welcoming and even offered to drive us to a local attraction instead of calling a taxi. We had an emergency when one of our party was leaving and the booked lyft did not show up to take them to the airport. It was very early in the morning and no taxis were operating either. Jim kindly agreed to drive them to the airport. We could not ask for kinder hosts!
I would readily recommend this home for your next stay at Kauai!

We found this a very effective way to vacation with my parents, brother and wife, and 3 teenagers. The kitchen was very large and perfect to cook in a big group setting, saving a ton on the cost of food. We loaded up at Costco, 22 mins from the home, and the fridge had plenty of space for 10 days of food and drinks for 9 people. The BBQ and deck were perfect for evening meals. The hosts were very helpful and responded very quickly to any questions. Access to washer/ dryer and all the beach gear was fantastic. Other than a snorkel you don’t need to bring any beach equipment. Hose right outside the house to rinse things off. Just a few things to be aware: there is no AC. Lots of fans but some nights were a bit muggy. Also, to help with ventilation the doors to the bedrooms have slats in them. They are still private but noise passes right through if you have people with different sleep schedules. They do provide ear plugs and I would also suggest using white nose. Really only an issue if you have teenagers that sleep in and grandparents that get up at 5😬. The athletic club included we hardly used as there is a so much to do in Kauai , however, it was nice to have as a place to hang out waiting for our late night flight depart.

We traveled to Kauai for 1 week in early October and Ala Muku was the perfect home to accommodate our large family with young kids (10 in total). Juliana and Jim (most communications were with Juliana) were professional and very helpful throughout the entire process from booking, traveling during COVID times, and during our stay. They have thought of everything a large family would need... the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. Only salt and pepper were provided but it may be due to COVID precautions... you need to bring or purchase any other seasonings like sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, etc. There was even a large rice cooker that we used daily to make meals for our family. One of the biggest bonuses of the property was all the beach equipment that was provided- everything from beach towels, chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, water noodles, etc. It was so nice to have those available for use- saved a lot of money! The pool at the athlectic club was being cleaned the entire week we were there so we didn't use the facilities at the club but I imagine would have been nice.
One thing to consider is that there is no air conditioning. Luckily our stay in early October was not too bad as far as heat. The fans that were supplied and available for each room definitely came in handy for the afternoons. A suggestion would be to cool the house a bit prior to guest arrival as when we arrived, it was pretty stuffy and hot but did cool off once shades closed, windows opened and fans turned on.
In summary, Ala Muku is 5 stars and Juliana and Jim were great hosts (btw, should note that they do live on the property in their own side dwelling with a private entrance). They were never intrusive but they were available when we needed (power box needed to be reset at one point) and they have thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable- they even provide earplugs in case the roosters wake you up in the early mornings!
