Snorkel in the crystal clear waters in the cove alongside gentle sea turtles or enjoy the beautiful sandy beach of Napili Bay just 1-2 blocks away. Marvel in the awe inspiring views from this multilevel jewel with floor to double-height ceiling windows or relax in its oceanfront Jacuzzi while experiencing Maui’s relaxing lifestyle. Aloha Honu Hale is a gem your family will treasure for this vacation and in memories for a lifetime. Size approx.3,500 sq.ft.

The home features four bedrooms - two with queen beds, one with a king, and one with three twins (two can be joined to form a king). The master bedroom features an en suite bathroom (bathtub and shower, two sinks), with an additional guest bathroom (tub/shower, two sinks) downstairs and a guest half-bath upstairs. A well equipped kitchen, flat screen TV with DVD and HD channels, exercise room with elliptical, and BBQ round out this amazing home's features. Parking for up to 4 cars.

Aloha Honu Hale is in a gated and very exclusive private street that runs along side the world famous turtle bay at Honokeana Cove. Note, this is an older, architect designed, home with has frequent guests. It thus has some wear in the interior and is impacted on the exterior by being right on the side of the bay where it is exposed to high wind and rain. The house is maintained on a regular basis, but the price (half that of nearby similar sized homes) reflects that this house, while beautiful and with a stunning view, is not pristine.

I just want to say thank you for an absolutely beautiful property and everything was spot on with how it’s described. I will most definitely be back to this location. The cove was mesmerizing and so peaceful. Everyone complimented the entire house and the view. There is nothing worth complaining about when you stay here. From setting up the stay all the way until we checked out all I can say is THANK YOU for the best vacation ever.

The property is located in a beautiful little cove and quite neighborhood. It was so neat to wake up and watch the turtles every morning. By far the best part I will miss. The home is just in need of some general maintenance and care. Issues that arose were handled, but an inconvenience with 8 people staying. I believe for the price per evening we expected a little more. Overall we had a great time in Maui, and look forward to our return.

It was an awesome place for our girls trip of 7 people! It was a bit warm in the two bedrooms without air conditioning but we managed with plenty of fans! Our favorite spot was the second floor open lanai! Turtles in the cove beneath the house all the time- absolutely stunning view and activity with snorkelers and turtles every day! Beautiful, beautiful home for a group, especially for the price but it does need some upkeep on the exterior wood and windows. No regrets- great trip!

Our stay was wonderful for our large group of family. We had plenty of space, supplies from a well stocked kitchen to snorkel and beach gear. We loved the views of the honu swimming and we swam in the cove often with them. When the internet was done for most of the stay, the manager and owners continued to work on the problem. As for critters inside, be aware that this is daily and more than a few. Keep the windows without screens shut tightly and most outside lights off at night. Overall this was a wonderful place with magnificent views, privacy and space for a once in a lifetime vacation.

The house is on a beautiful cove. The snorkelling was amazing. Turtles and fish were everywhere. We also could see the whales and dolphins from the outside balcony. We were a party of 8 adults. Lots of room. As described the home is older and dated but we saw through that. It is a tropical climate so expect the occasional “bug” or two. The kitchen is equipped with everything you may need. The views are beautiful. The access to the cove is a short walk. It is close to grocery store and other retail stores. There is a local Farmers market Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The property manager is available at a moments notice. It is a gated area so was quiet. We did many activities so be sure to plan as it is a drive to the other end of the island. Early mornings are usually not so busy. We had surfers in the group so they drove around quite a bit to find the good spots. There is no central air but the bedroom portable was sufficient. We did keep the windows open and the breeze was beautiful. We would not hesitate to stay again but remember its well lived in. The price is extremely reasonable for what you are getting.

Tim is delusional, a bully & a liar. Tim uses a different management system. You have no protection from him taking $500 after you leave even when his accusations are made-up, read fine print of the rental agreement. Tim will likely say we tried to extort money, we didn't rent the home or we made this up. There are positive reviews. Lucky for them they didn't peek behind the couch or have to dodge rodents like us. After seeing our pics of RAT FECES, Tim said it must've been there for months. I'm positive past guests would've felt differently & reviewed the home accordingly if they had found FECES themselves. We were aware the home is run down but the pics are outdated by 10+ yrs w/ little-to-no maintenance. French doors in bdrms are broken & don't open as shown in pics(in reviews, not fixed). Missing screens(in reviews, not fixed). The RODENTS are real we have lots of pics. We understand island life but there's an obvious rodent infestation w/ several rat traps in the ktchn & liv rm. We cleaned up TONS of FECES which is highly toxic. Tim had no plans to check traps during our 7 day stay. We also had a broken dishwasher, internet & TV down for 2 days. Tim charged us $500 after we left, he said we rudely used all the towels & damaged towels, they were only used for bathing & cleaning his property. Tim is running this place into the ground, squeezing every last dime out of it & at some point it will be condemned. Tim's compulsive lies & bullying is upsetting & disgusting.

The location was perfect. The nearby beaches were perfect. The snorkeling was perfect. The communication with the property manager was perfect. Everything about this visit was close to flawless. We had a group of eight adults (four couples) and the home was more than comfortable for the entire crew. The laughs, the games we played and the "ohana" permeated throughout the week. As past reviewers have noted, yes, the home is in need of some TLC. But if you can tolerate a few aesthetic issues and remind yourself you are in a warm, tropic environment, maybe you can look past them as we did. For those who are a tad less permissive, expect to see some bumps and bruises throughout and you won't be put-off. For example, the stove is a bit temperamental, trim pieces are coming loose, there is water damage on many of the windows and patio doors, and the washing machine may "eat" small garments. Also note that Honokeana Bay is not accessible from the property as we originally thought, as one needs to exit the front gate, walk a half block down the road and then can access the cove from the shore opposite the home. But I must say it is worth the five-minute trek as we never saw so many sea turtles in our lives! Honokeana Bay is literally teaming with them. Also, there was plenty of snorkel gear, beach chairs, and countless beach towels for guests. The only thing we needed were fins, which I rented at Boss Frogs (in the strip mall nearby) for ten bucks a week. Speaking of the strip mall nearby, don't look past Maui Tacos. So so good! Overall, Honu Hale was well worth the visit and we'd likely return. Thank you to the team, specifically Christin who seems to "live aloha" every day. Much mahalo.

Overall, our stay at this property was fine. There's a reason though that it's priced well below what others in the same area are. Upon arrival, the carpet by the French doors in the master and middle bedrooms was soaked! We immediately notified the local property manager, who was very responsive. She came the next morning with a wet vac. Conveniently, there was also a small ventilation fan in the bedroom closet, which we ran all week. The fact it was there though leads me to believe this is not the first time this has happened. There are also louvered windows throughout the house. They're very nice, but the handles are broken on many of them, and they can't be closed completely. On our second morning, a pretty good rain storm blew in. My wife and daughter were feeding our grandsons in the living room, when the rain started coming in through the windows. Again, w/ no way to completely close the windows, this continued until the rain stopped. Fortunately, the room was tiled, so no soaked carpet. I did have to find a mop though to clean up. Additional water also came into the bedroom, extending that issue. Bottom line, the house needs some maintenance. That said, the location is fantastic, we saw whales and sea turtles from our deck almost every day. We didn't let the problems detract from our visit. However, if issues like this would bother you, you might want to spend a bit more. BTW, we had no issues w/ bugs as some other reviews have mentioned.

February 2023
The house accommodated our 8 people nicely and it was clean. However, it is showing it’s age. Living room furniture needs to be replaced, there appeared to be an ant infestation in it. Some of the windows leaked in a lot of rain. Stove and oven were a bit iffy.

Aloha Honu Hale was the perfect fit for our 7 adult family Maui vacation. We all had the privacy that 4 bedrooms (3 bedrooms & loft) provided complimented by ample space to cook, eat and relax together in the rest of the house. Very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped, hot tub available, lots of beach chairs/umbrellas to use and room to park 3 cars. Great views of the bay and resident turtles and short drives to anywhere from Lahaina - Kannapali - Kapalua and all the beaches therein. We would definitely return here. Special kudos and Mahalos to Tim for his gracious flexibility in having to do some rescheduling because of Covid restrictions, much appreciated!

This was the perfect house for our family adventure in Maui. The location can’t be beat as it is right on Turtle Cove where snorkeling with turtles and fish was an easy daily activity. The surfer in our family was ecstatic over the conditions and proximity to the waves. The house was large and comfortable for our extended family ages 4-74. We felt instantly at home from the time we entered the front door. The manager was super responsive and neighbors friendly and welcoming. We would come back and stay here again.

Aloha. For starters, my communication with the homeowner and property manager was very quick whenever I relayed an issue. The home is jaw dropping after a quick look around. The views are spectacular. Everything worked. If you are into rice, we could not locate the cord for the rice cooker. If you like coffee, there is a Kuerig. There is also a conventional coffee maker to make one large pot. There is one air conditioner in the home and is in the master bedroom. It worked well. Open up the doors to the lanai and jalousie windows and the breeze was terrific in early June. Never needed the a/c for the other rooms, including the third level. My two teen sons slept up there and didn't complain. All the bedrooms had fans to help with airflow. I will say the middle bedroom downstairs was the warmest because you couldn't open the lanai doors. Large tv in the main living room with cable for your live sports. Don't think the other tv's had cable, but did have streaming. The hot tub. Kids were excited about the hot tub and climbed in the day we checked in. Son developed a slight rash that quickly went away. My daughter is still suffering 9 days later. I never shared this with the property manager. Was hoping the rash would go away. The hot tub cleaner arrived the following day, on Sunday, I believe. I told him about my daughter as he was testing the water. He said the water was fine as he was testing. Ten minutes later, he asked me if we had added anything to the water. Just some pool toys, no liquids. I didn't follow up to his question. I should have. Insects and creatures. Yes, you will encounter quite a few different species inside the home. Don't kill the geckos. They eat insects and are considered good luck. The neighbor living above the garage is a nice young man. His mother works at the Gazebo Restaurant and is a funny entertainer/waitress with great energy. There is room for two vehicles in the garage. Honokeana was awesome to swim in. Calm and we saw honu both times. Fins and mask available. We knew going in, based on the honest vrbo listing, that this home has a few issues. Based on the size (over 3,100 square feet), having four bedrooms, world class views, price compared to other 3 plus bedroom units, and quick responses from manager and owner, this home has earned its 5 stars. For the record, the home across the street, very much updated, lists for $2,850 per night. Perspective. That's over $2k savings per NIGHT after tax! Mahalo!

This is a very well designed house with an upside down floor plan with the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the lower level and common spaces on the 2nd floor to take advantage of the fantastic views of the bay and ocean. From the top floor loft bedroom you can see the sunset and occasional surfers. We will return again if possible.

I realize, after being there, that the home is almost 100 years old (I believe it was built in 1923). We several minor issues and the manager took care of them expeditiously. The balcony was great, the Bay was beautiful. The house had several subtle issues. She just needs some TLC and this place would be the greatest place on the island.

Our stay was very pleasant. We really appreciated the honesty in the listing that the property is older and as long as you’re ok with that you will have great stay. The location is convenient to Ka’anapali and Lahaina but far enough away to be much quieter. The internet was great and the family room was a great place to hang out. The communication, check in and check out were painless. Hopefully the owners will update the property soon and realize it’s full potential. Only suggestion I have is considering removing the bougainvillea hedge and opening up that wonderful views from the ground and hot tub

One of the best vacations we've ever had. This is a fantastic bright and cheery architect designed house with fabulous high ceilings and large windows. The view is to die for! The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival and the property manager and owner were both incredibly helpful and prompt to respond to all our questions. They gave some great suggestions for places to visit and where to eat. We'll definitely be returning!

My family of 9 total adults stayed at the home for 9 nights. As soon as we arrived, my family couldn't stop talking about how perfectly located the home was. We woke up every morning to the ocean breeze and felt like we slept on the beach every night. The home's living room and dining room views are straight out of a magazine. It was true paradise with a snorkeling spot a mere yards away, shopping centers close by, and a jacuzzi to relax in if we didn't want to go too far. The home was a little older and there was some areas that could use some remodeling, (i.e. older windows, doors, and scratched tiles), but this matched the description and the reviews so these met our expectations. The few times I communicated with Sean he was very responsive. My family and I are already planning our next Maui trip and will defintely be staying at this home again!

August 2021
We were there in midsummer, but there was only one night when the lack of A/C was slightly missed. I loved the strong and constant breeze that buffeted us when we were out on the lanai (which was often). Because island restaurants were so full, getting reservations was decidedly difficult. But the full kitchen and the nice communal table rendered it a moot point. Several maintenance activities were accomplished while we were there, but it was never intrusive and we always received warning. Lots of aloha spirit. Our group swam with the turtles, crowded the hot tub, watched major sporting events on the giant TV, and otherwise took advantage of this splendid house. We'll be back.

Location of the house was perfect. However the house I’m sure was beautiful in its time, but needs some work and cleaning. With the amount of work it took to get to Maui because of COVID I would expect the house to be equally COVID ready for guests.

The people involved with this rental are very kind and helpful...from allowing us the move our rental from 2020 to 2021, answering pre-travel questions, bringing fans and asking us how the place suited us. The house is architecturally very interesting, from soaring ceilings to large view-filled windows to lots of outdoor equipment and chairs. When the breezes blow, it is truly lovely. A couple of days with little wind were warm. The location is prime. We had rented across the short gated-street before and knew the snorkeling was excellent. However, the access from this side of the street had been filled with condos and a steep, rock-filled new bank so the way to get in is 10 minutes away and down a bit of rock to get in.....quite doable but some people and little ones had trouble. The tenant and house manager we met and they were great. We had an alarm go off at middle of night two nights in a row with no one replacing the battery....which surprised us as all had been so responsive. The furniture, decor , cabinets and windows are old and need replacing....but I can see the owner, Tim, is defensive about possible slights....as I probably would be if I owned the home and he does keep the rent much lower than the other rentals in this terrific location. So base your decision on your comfort level .... it is a lovely old Hawaiian life that was lived here. If you love that and can accept a few screens off and windows and doors broken, you will love the birds flying through and the ambience. The beds are comfy, the appliances work, a toilet overflowed but we found a plunger and set it right. I didn't call when the alarms went off, thinking no one could do anything until morning and was scolded a bit but finally was told a code to stop the sound the next am (I covered it with cushions, etc, so it wasn't so disturbing). All in all, we loved the ten days and the adventure of this beautiful, old house. I hope you hear that I loved your home and thank you for making it available to travelers, Tim, but also like to let other travelers know what I found as I rely on these reviews to choose the places we stay. Mahalo!

January 2017
This trip to Hawaii was our Christmas gift to our family of 7, plus one significant other. After first spending time in hotels in Honolulu and then Hilo on the Big Island, we spent 6 wonderful, relaxing days in this Lahaina-area home. There were 3 generations of us and we all loved this place. Everyone had their own space in the home but the common areas were large enough to accommodate all of us together. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai every morning, watching the turtles play in the bay below. The beach around the corner provided great snorkling and the kids, ages 14-21, enjoyed the boogie boards. The location can't be beat on this private, very quiet street. The garage and driveway provided ample parking for our 2 rented SUVs. We only ran into Mark, who lives above the garage, a couple of times as we came and went and he was very friendly. I would only suggest one small improvement, and I have seen it mentioned in previous comments ~ the addition of a Keurig coffee maker. Since some of us drink decaf coffee and others drink regular, it's just easier for everyone to make what they prefer, one cup at a time. But that's a small thing and certainly didn't diminish our enjoyment of this home. We loved our time together as a family in your lovely home. Thank you for providing the perfect place for our family to be together. Happy New Year!!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home. Perfect for a big group, we didn't feel cramped at all. Tim and Christine were supremely helpful during our stay. The home is located on a secluded street with easy access to Turtle Bay, Napili Bay (just around the corner) and great restaurants nearby. Gorgeous views, as well.

We had a wonderful family get together at this house. It sleeps 9 and I never felt like we were bumping into each other, unless it was on purpose. I highly recommend this as a place to commune in beautiful Maui. I spend most of my time watching the turtles play. Awesome. The only negative I would say, is that it doesn't have air conditioning. But if you kept the windows and doors open, there was always a nice breeze. Besides, it is summer in Maui, we expected it to be hot. Mahalo

This house was perfect for our family. The private street and private location was amazing. The views from the kitchen and dining room was absolutely incredible. There were so many turtles in the bay below the house that it was the morning activity to watch them. We walked around the bay and snorkeled with the turtles and got amazing photos. The sunsets and rainbows from the deck were picture perfect. The house was comfortable and everything worked great. Everyone enjoyed making breakfast and BBQ dinners at the house. We feel the location can't be beat and would recommend this house to families that want location and comfort while on vacation. I would give 5 stars if there had been more linens/towels etc for a family and maybe a more updated coffee maker but those are very small items and all in all I would come back and loved our time here.

February 2016
The location is the best in Maui. Very quiet street nothing but waves. Home is situated very well on property with amazing views of the turtle cove and ocean. Home is very welcoming. It was just the two of us on the trip so we did not put the house to a capacity test. but with only two full baths I would imagine a limit of three couples would be OK or two couples and a few kids. Kitchen was fully functional and well equipped with pots and pans. The home has not been significantly renovated so still has the older style feel, some of the funishings are getting dated and worn. The views are the best with whales and trurtles in constant view at all times of daylight hours. I would be careful with small kids because home is on edge of cliff. This is a five star location and ocean view. Home has great architecture and sits well on the landscape. I give it three stars for need of remodel of furnishings including kitchen, Lighting, built in cabinets and baths.

June 2015
I have to say, the five star specifically has to do with Tim and co. for being so flexible and amazingly accommodating. This trip was specifically for my family and my gramps, who is 98 years old. They made the stay exceptionally pain free and stress free. With regards to the property, the view is obviously just gorgeous. For the house itself, it's a little old in decor and style, but works perfectly fine! I really think that the pictures don't do the property justice. The house is extremely comfortable and all facilities were clean. Its a house rental... you cant have too high of expectations for the upkeep of the facilities but regardless, the place was nicely maintained. Some things to keep in mind, no central AC but not necessary when you have the wind blasting throughout the house. Also, the separate garage detached from the main house is rented out to another tenant named Mark, who is super friendly, but just an FYI. The parking situation can be a little uncomfortable if you have a large car to park, but other than that the stay was excellent!

The owners and their property manager were really good at attending to our needs and suggesting places to go, and activities to check out. We needed special baby equipment and they were great at helping us to rent it during our stay. This is an amazing house in an amazing location, with an amazing view! Highly recommended, we are returning as soon as we can.

Aloha Honu Hale is one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed at, our stay was really good! We were celebrating my mother's 80th birthday, and the house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 2 grandchildren. The view is fabulous, the house was clean, spacious, and well maintained. It is right on one of the best snorkeling bays in Maui (in the world!) and watching the turtles right outside the window is amazing. We'll definitely be returning!

April 2015
INCREDIBLE location and views (2 of the best beaches in walking distance - Napili & Kapalua). Went to sleep and woke up to the sounds of the ocean. Turtles were always visible from our balcony. On a private street so it is very quiet (in case you are looking for a resort type of thing). The home is huge and has an open layout and was perfect for our group of 7 for a week. Owner and property manager were extremely responsive (needed more pots and pans and received professional cookware the same day). There are some things that could use a little updating (i.e. beach chairs) but nothing that would prevent me from staying here again!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
