The ocean view from the lanai is beautiful! The small, private beach is just a few yards away, and was very good for snorkeling (sea turtles could be seen swimming by from our lanai too). The pool and the grounds were very well kept, and a great place to watch the ocean from the provided lawn chairs/loungers. The location is close to great beaches. Condo itself was good & appliances were all fine. The only negative for us was that these units did not have A/C, which we would have liked a couple of days, but this is very common for Maui -- the temperatures are generally very moderate & the ocean breeze is nice and cool at night.

I loved this property and our stay here.Its very hard to leave. We saw whales everyday ( in April) and so many sea turtles from the Lanai. The condo worked perfect for us and the hosts were very easy to work with. This has to be the most well stocked property I have ever stayed in. I was very impressed..

I cannot put into words what a treasure this condo is! Bright and spacious and airy and a view that will take your breath away. Condo is well stocked and so comfortable. There is no better place on Maui to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sun come up while the whales spout. The property is immaculate with a private pool and beach- an oasis away from the touristy hustle and bustle of town (which you can still get to quickly)! This place is a gem!

We have been to this condo complex 5-6 times over the past 10 years, staying in different condos each time as our family grow. This year, Lydia's condo was available for the time we needed, and was similar to a unit we stayed in last year. First and foremost, the view and location are top notch, you can't beat beachfront with direct access to a pool/hot tub. On top of that, the grounds and building are kept up very well by the building manager who we have seen has been there for many years. The condo itself is fairly dated, and could use some general TLC. The bathrooms look as though they are hard to make look clean simply due to their age. The kitchen was something to be desired as only one burner on the stove and as a family on vacation, part of the reason for a non-hotel rental is so that we can cook many of our meals on-site. Some of the amenities such as laundry soap that said were included, we either could not find or weren't there, which meant a separate trip to the store. We would certainly return to the Hale Mahina but may have some additional communication prior to coming about amenities included. Again, the price is reasonable and the location is tough to beat so much of the details didn't bother me enough to ruin our vacation!

The place was so well placed near everything shops restaurants cafes etc. many in walking distance. Hale Mahina was like a home away from home with the huge bonus of amazing sunsets and full ocean views at each meal from our Lanai. In addition having the beach at our doorstep with immediate access to snorkeling and daily visits by multiple turtles.
The condo area is peaceful, not crowded . While BBQ’ing we met guests and long time owners all very friendly.
If you want to be around a lot of people and more crowded beaches you can head south about 10 min to Kaanapali. The beach is calmer and not a lot of rocks.
You can also find a variety of beaches 10-15 min (driving) north. Well known areas are a bit crowded and other less well known beautiful areas with few people and more waves maybe more rocks but easily remedied by grabbing a pair of water shoes.
The condo provided a comfortable loft and sofa bed for each of our teen boys and another separate bedroom. The condo was a perfect space for our week long trip.

We loved being able to look out our balcony and see and the ocean and beach! Saw turtles on our beach every day and even a seal! The property was nice, as others have mentioned if you stay in the downstairs bedroom it is very noisy, but at night my 2 teens were so tired it didn’t bother them much (only if we came back during the day for a quick rest). I really liked the fact that they had body boards, beach umbrella, and a cooler. Host was very responsive. Will say washer was VERY loud- like so loud I thought there was an airplane or helicopter outside above the building at first- Host actually contacted me about that after we used it the time before I could call her to let me know if the problem and said it was going to be repaired but ok to use- we tried one other time after to do laundry but just couldn’t because it was so loud, and just in case did not want to hurt the machine. (But as mentioned they are getting that fixed). Would stay here again!

We enjoyed how easy it was to relax at the condo. The views are incredible and you can watch the whales and sea turtles from the balcony. We had what we needed to cook, the directions for the condo were clear and easy, and we appreciated having laundry in the unit. (Bring your own shampoo and laundry soap - small amount provided). There also were odds and ends of snorkel gear, boogie boards and plenty of heavy beach towels. If you want a nice folding beach chair (Tommy Bahama), stop at Costco or Target near the airport or rent. The grounds have beautiful flowers near the pool and the area is well-kept. The unit also was clean and organized. The residents and long haul renters use the tables on the lawn each night for happy hour and food, so we ate on the balcony and enjoyed the view. People get up early in the AM to set out the provided lawn chairs to hold a spot for the day. The pool and hot tub are small, but rarely used, so also easy to enjoy. Being able to walk out to the beach was wonderful. We had a nice stay - would love to return again.

This was the most amazing place to stay. The private beach is literally in your backyard. The condo was clean and supplied with ample towels, linens, snorkels, boogie boards and more. Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful. There is lawn chairs for everyone to use outside. The hot tub and pool were perfect! Honestly, the best rental I have ever stayed at. We watched turtles come up on the beach multiple times and seals swim by in the ocean. The condo is close to coffee shops, a market, and a long stretch of beach with a playground (if you want to venture away from the private beach). It was so amazing I couldn’t recommend it more!

We really enjoyed the layout and incredible view from this condo. The complex is wonderful and is in a perfect location.
Only negative is that the condo needs a thorough cleaning (both the inside and outside of the kitchen cupboards and drawers were quite dirty, dirty floor next to the fridge and stove, unit was dusty including bedrooms and living room surfaces). It is apparent that the bathrooms and kitchen surfaces were given a good cleaning but the rest of the unit was not. During COVID times this was not great.

Incredible location and no regrets staying here. I will say the back bedroom was very noisy with road noise and hard to sleep. That being said I would stay again because the location is so great with a very private beach. Also the balcony view was amazing.

We had the most amazing vacation at this beautiful property. The view from the patio is breathtaking, we saw sea turtles everyday, and were close enough to walk to local stores and coffee shops. The private beach is amazingly maintained, the condo itself was extremely clean, cozy, has everything you could need for a week long vacation, and beds were surprisingly comfortable! Laura and Lydia answered any of our questions quickly and kindly. Cannot recommend this place enough!

The unit, location, and amenities exceeded our expectations! We felt so fortunate to find such a beautiful place with a stunning beach for swimming and snorkeling directly in front. We listened to the sound of the ocean as we fell asleep at night and enjoyed the comfort and views from the balcony. We saw many sea turtles each day and there were so many things located conveniently close by. We would not hesitate to stay here again, absolute paradise!

Comfy and convenient. This fourth level unit has a loft/bedroom which has an outstanding view of the private beach. Well decorated and stocked. However, the fridge is not cool enough so store stuff in the freezer. Everything else is well maintained. Just steps to the little private beach. It was just perfect!

We had a great stay at Hale Mahina! This condo has amazing beach access with a lovely view from the deck. Sea turtles swim by regularly and even lounge on the beach at times. The beach is accessed by only the people staying at Hale Mahina so is not crowded and is a wonderful place to spend hours floating in the water. The fact that the condo doesn't have air conditioning is not a problem at all. A great breeze blows through when you open the doors and there are many fans located throughout the rooms to keep things cool. If you are looking for a place that has a water view and beach access this one fits the bill.

The condo is super clean and very well equipped. We were worried that it would be too hot since we went in June, but with the fan and the front door open during the day, it was quite pleasant.
Everything we needed for snorkeling was provided in condo, including extra towel, which was quite nice.
We got to see and swim with turtles almost every day right at the private beach in front of the condo. Super great plus!

We stayed a week with our three adult children. Everything was exactly as the description states. The location was beautiful and in easy access to everything we wanted to do. The private beach and ocean views were amazing. I don't think you can get any closer to the ocean than this! The condo was clean and well-maintained and full of thoughtful details. I was a little concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but it was absolutely not an issue. We opened up the windows, turned on the fans, and were never uncomfortable. I would love to come back to Maui and this property!

The property is well cared for and the private sandy beach was better than advertised. Pool and hot tub are nice for cooling off, if the ocean is not your thing.
The condo was fine. The lanai is about as close to the water as you will find which was great! No A/C made for very warm evenings and the fans the unit claimed to have didn't work, ceiling fans operated only at a very slow speed. Space and furnishings in unit were just right for our family. We would stay here again!

This condo is amazing. It is better than the pictures. It is centrally located in Honokowai. All of West Maui is within a 20 minute or less drive. The condo's beach is small but beautiful. We planned on and enjoyed visiting many beaches, regardless of where we stayed. Being on a sand beach is rare and delightful. Lots of huge sea turtles. The grounds are stunning. The pool and hot tub are great. Parking and access are easy. The inside of the unit is fantastic. It has two bedrooms with queen beds and a very useable pull-out sofa in the living room. The kitchen is well stocked and pleasant to use. The bathrooms are great. You do not need air conditioning! At night the sound of the waves puts you to sleep no matter where you are in the condo. The best feature of this condo is the view. It is the best view in all of West Maui. You can see across to both Lanai and Molokai, plus open ocean between and to the sides. The balcony feels like it is suspended over the ocean. The palm trees frame the view but do not block it. In December we saw scores of whales right from the balcony. It is wonderful. The table outside could use one more chair. The property is children friendly but has fairly strict rules about behavior. We knew this going in and had no problems. If your kids are noisy or like to play "Marco Polo" in the pool, this condo is not for you. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!

We loved our stay in A 402 at Hale Mahina. My parents, niece, husband, baby daughter and I stayed for a week in the condo. The condo had the most amazing views from the lanai. We enjoyed watching the turtles and relaxing to the sound of the waves. The condo is in great shape, comfortable and had everything and more we needed for our stay including a fully stocked kitchen and beach essentials (snorkels, coolers a boogie board). The property was perfect. A lovely sandy private beach which is rare for the area plus a beautifully landscape grassy area that was perfect for our baby to crawl around on and family picnics. The complex is small and quaint with beautiful flowers and landscaping and a nice pool and bbq area. It was close to everything we needed including beach restaurants and a farmers market - although we rented a car, lots is in walking distance. We will be back! The only constructive comment is the place is best for four adults (as opposed to five - my niece is a pre-teen)... But we knew that going in as the third bed is a pull out sofa. An extra folding chair or two on the lanai would be a bonus as there are only four. Also - owner and management were very helpful and reponsive to give us all the information we needed and to make sure we were comfortable. Thank you for a great vacation!!!

We just finished a 5 day stay and really enjoyed it. Everything is just as the pictures show it. The view from the lanai is amazing and the beach is great. We did some snorkeling here and had easy driving access to other great spots. The condo really has everything you need in the kitchen and for he beach including coolers, beach mats, umbrella, fins, snorkel sets and more. There is plenty within walking distance too. The whole complex is really clean and well maintained. I was a little concerned about the lack of AC but it's not an issue. The breeze is perfect. We saw several turtles from both the beach and lanai as well!
The ONLY constructive feedback I have is on responsiveness. It took a few follow up messages to confirm that the lease agreement was received and nothing else was needed. Also, when we got here the parking pass was missing. I sent the property manager a message right away and never heard back in the whole 5 days we were here. I put a note in our car instead and never had an issue so it worked out fine.
Tips: Don't expect your check in instructions until just before your stay. It's easy to find (even in the dark) and easy to get in. Open the windows and doors as soon as you get in and it will cool down quickly. The beach here is very nice but there are some really great snorkeling spots within a few miles in each direction. I highly recommend checking out Maui Brewing company while you are here too. There is a tasting room just down the road.

We rented 3 units at this resort in an effort to keep family members close to each other for a wedding. (held elsewhere).
It was a great idea idea until our bbq the night before attracted 5 more guests. we tried to keep it quiet and short, but exceeding the guest limit
was a bad deal. Jacob was nice to call and hear my side of the issue, and I thank him for that. This place is real quiet and peaceful and you can't find a prettier view for this price. I highly recommend this place.

This is definitely a 5 star condo! The hale is gorgeous, well-appointed and very comfortable. All of the comforts of home, plus the best views and weather ever! We had a great stay, spent countless hours on the very spacious lanai, watching whales and sea turtles. Turtles came ashore to rest almost every day we were there. It's also worth noting that the property has a beautiful little semi-private beach (shared with properties to the left and the right) which was a nice bonus, and something we've never had in West Maui before - usually a condo this close to the water doesn't have any sand, but this property has both a lovely sandy beach and a big grassy lawn. The Oceanside pool was wonderful too. There were lots of little extras available - a cooler, a picnic basket, binoculars on the lanai for better viewing the whales, and a fully stocked kitchen. The only teeny drawback is that neither of the bedrooms is particularly quiet; both are open to the rest of the condo and the downstairs bedroom gets some noise from the road. It was no problem for us, but if you have any noise sensitive people in your party it would be worth knowing this. The location is great, close to beach parks north and south, Lahaina for going out, and don't miss the Farmers Market down the road for great local eats. This was easily one of the best condos we've stayed in; we were sad to leave and would definitely stay here again!

This is defiantly a 5 star property. Very quiet. The view was stunning, the condo was clean, beds were comfortable. The kitchen had everything one needed to cook. And a wonderful music selection, which was a bonus. The location was perfect. Easy access to town and all the different activities available in Maui. Loved the private beach, pool, Jacuzzi. But what I really enjoyed was watching the whales and the turtles off of the Lanai. Now, ( This wasn't the owners fault.) The only problem we did have was with the internet, wi fi, TV. It was the carriers fault. And the owner did everything to try to solve the problem while we were there. I feel I had to mention it. I would still give them 5 stars. The original condo I booked 7 months ahead fell through, and fortunately, I found this gem of a place! If you are looking for a quiet, uncrowded property with essentially its own little beach, this is the place for you! There are only 2 four story buildings, and it is right on the ocean with a nice small beach. The pool and hot tub were immaculate, and there was rarely anyone using them. This condo itself is on the top floor with spectacular views. We spent most of our entire mornings out on the lanai watching surfers, paddleboarders, and turtles from a shady comfortable perch. The condo does not have fancy updated finishes like granite countertops or stainless steel appliances, but it is incredibly clean with comfortable furniture and the softest sheets I've ever encountered. Although there is no air conditioning, plenty of fans kept us cool (we stayed here in December), and you can open the skylights to let the heat escape. There is a really nice breeze that flows through the condo if you leave the windows open in the front. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, including a Brita pitcher, as the tap water itself was not that great unfiltered, and ice packs to use in the coolers. There were plenty of beach towels in the downstairs bedroom dresser, and a large and small cooler in the downstairs bedroom closet (I'm mentioning this because we had a little trouble finding them!) When we were there, there was one boogie board and a lot of snorkel gear, as well as a craft box of seashells and string in the storage box on the patio. There is soap in the bathrooms, but you will need to bring shampoo!
Another aspect we enjoyed was the proximity to the Honokowai Farmers Market store, which was a 10 minute walk to great fresh fruit and many samples, as well as Bad Ass Coffee. There are several other inexpensive eateries along the street, and the drives to Kaanapalli and Lahaina were easy. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone!

We had an amazing time at the Hale Mahina #402. The condo was homey and comfy and it had everything we needed and then some. Turtles swam by all day long and it was truly a relaxing and beautiful place for a family vacation. We have 2 kids (ages 9 & 12). There are quite a few rules to abide by re: the pool area but in my opinion, it makes the vacation that much more enjoyable as the few kids that are on property tend to be respectful while still having so much fun. I won a trip though my job and could pick where I wanted to stay. I kept coming back to this sweet condo and knew it was the right one for my hubby and two girls. (ages 9 and 11) The backyard is the ocean!!! What more do you need to hear? I did not want a busy touristy hotel, I wanted a low key experience and having the ocean to myself- and boy do you have that staying here!! It feels like a private beach and no craziness to keep you up. I swam with more sea turtles in our backyard than I did at Turtle Town. I have memories that will last a lifetime of just being in that beautiful water or looking at it during my morning meditations. The currents were perfect for my girls, they could swim and enjoy without us worrying. I saw the most amazing sunset of my life and the waves rocked me to sleep every night. I could see them from my side of the bed. There is no AC and we had a few warm nights, so I almost knocked a star off for that, but there are fans everywhere and a cross breeze. The master bedroom is a loft so it gets hot. The 2nd bedroom is street facing and louder, but gets a great breeze. It all worked out for us 4 and was one of the best family vacations ever.
The location is perfect for driving easily to shopping and awesome restaurants. Miso Phat sushi is just 5 min away and it was amazing!! Maui has ruined NY sushi for me forever!! (:
The condo was so well stocked. Do not bring or buy anything until you see all the goodies there. I lugged garlic salt because that is how I roll, but didn't need it. Plan to book a few nights just to lay low and enjoy the sunset and evening swimming- you will really thank yourself later. The pool is clean, sweet and simple, the hot tub is very hot and really great. The condo and facility is clean and well cared for-- it all worked out perfect for us and I can't wait to go back!!!!

We rented this condo for our daughter and her family for a trip together in July. They totally loved this condo as did we. It had everything they needed and sometimes more! It was well supplied with all the necessities for beach play as well as everything needed for preparing and eating meals. Having a washer and dryer in the condo was an added bonus. The Hale Mahina complex is wonderful. The beach is beautiful - good for boogie boarding, sunning, snorkeling with the turtles, or just playing in the water. When that gets old, there was the pool and the hot tub. Nice! It was perfect to be able to do the beach thing and then go right upstairs for lunch or just a great place to kick back and relax. We would all highly recommend this condo.
