We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Susan’s place in Kapa’a! The condo had everything we needed and the view over the ocean was amazing. We didn’t utilize the resort amenities but there was a pool, various yard games, ping pong, etc. We loved that there were lots of restaurants within walking distance down the paved path.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation - time went by too fast. Susan went above and beyond in being flexible and understanding with us due to a health issue at the last minute. Everything was perfect in the condo, so relaxing and beautiful views of the sunrises over the ocean. Fantastic views from this location, and perfect size wise for my wife and I to enjoy our stay. We loved the extra things the host included, using the cooler, rain umbrella, beach chairs, and extra beach towels she provided - those were great to have on our adventures across the island. We enjoyed the nearby bike/walking path and location near "downtown" Kapa'a. It was sometimes difficult to pull out of the Pono Kai complex due to high traffic along the main road. Had a minor hiccup with the kitchen sink and disposal - but this was promptly fixed by the owner as she was quick to respond. Great place to stay and a great host!

Lovely condo. Very clean and incredibly spacious. The view from the balcony was great for watching the sunrise. Loved the A/C throughout, for us it was a definite must! Also was sooo nice having the in suite washer and dryer! We took advantage of that and we’re grateful we didn’t have to make a chore of it by leaving the room and using the communal ones. Was nice to see some staples in the cupboard, we didn’t do any cooking but the coffee filters and sugar we were thankful for.
Our only real suggestion is to ditch the blinds in the master bedroom for some nice dark curtains for more privacy; the master bedroom basically is situated next to the walking hallway for the Pono Kai and we did notice even with the blinds closed and a bedroom lamp on, anybody could easily see into the bedroom when walking by. Also the Pono Kai keeps lights on all night long and we still found the bedroom was too bright for us with the blinds closed because of the lights they keep on outside in the halls 24/7, eye masks were used.
Pono Kai is very close to local breakfast spots and a good central location in Kapaa, from there it makes excursions around the island equal distance whether it’s North or South. It was great for first time visit to Kauai, since we saw a bit of everything everywhere!
We did notice it was also very very windy walking along the oceanfront in front of the condo however. And for us, definitely not a swim spot. But we appreciated being oceanfront every day nonetheless.

Spent 4 nights in Kapa’a. The condo was exactly as shown in the photos. It was comfortable, kitchen was well-equipped, everything was super clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Happy to see there were fans as well as air conditioning. The beach was a few yards away. Good sized lanai for having coffee and watching the sun rise. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, bike rental, and Safeway is a short drive. There was plenty of parking and other tenants were respectful of quiet hours. Our trip was very enjoyable. Mahalo

The stay at this VRBO was fantastic. The unit was perfect, it had everything you needed. The view from the lanai was incredible. You could watch the sunrise every morning while drinking your coffee. The location was excellent for shopping and dining. The beach walking path made it easy to stroll to town with a view. Susan was extremely helpful and prompt with answers to any questions I had. The town of Kaapa is an easy access to all areas of the island. Highly recommended.

This was the perfect condo for our trip on Kauai. Every morning we had our coffee while listening to the surf and watching the sunrise. There is a walking path along the ocean where we walked and rented bikes. (paved path) The central location is perfect for exploring around the island. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone visiting Kauai.

What a great place to stay! Susan was on point with any questions or needs from us! The location is amazing. Walked into town to many places for shopping and food. Our favorite food and cocktails is Fish Bar Deli, fyi. Love the walking path and cooling off in the waters right in front of the resort. Also, short drive to Smith Family Gardens, Sleeping Giant trailhead, and Wailua river kayaking. Can't wait to go back to Susan's wonderful condo!

My husband and I could not have loved our stay more. The balcony is just amazing. A constant breeze and lovely view of the ocean. We spent hours each night out there relaxing. The condo was clean and well stocked. The bed was extremely comfortable, and having laundry in unit was awesome. We could easily walk or bike most places, and the resort felt very safe. We can't wait to come back!

We traveled to Kauai for our nephews wedding and stayed only 3 days. We met other family members also attending the wedding and our location enabled us to do very many things! Walking the shoreline everyday on the spacious paved path kept us fit for the days adventures. The unit is clean, well equipped and you cannot beat the sunrises and beach right out front of the lanai. A couple of family members said they preferred our unit to their resort for the sheer beauty of having the ocean at your doorstep. This fact was the main reason we chose to stay here. We loved it here!

The unit was clean, well appointed and more than met our needs. We were not cooking on vacation but the kitchen was very well stocked and could have handled as needed. We enjoyed the ocean view and sunrises, and it's great having the trail to walk up the coast, as well as being able to cut through the property and right up into old town Kapa'a. Enjoyed the local businesses, restaurants and food trucks; special nod to the fine food and Lillikoi foam Mai Tai at Sam's Ocean View. And when we weren't walking it was a great location for our trips up to the North coast and the beauty and sights it has to offer. The resort staff was also very helpful and welcoming, we didn't feel like a VRBO rental was any different in their eyes. Worked out great for us overall and is a place we'd gladly spend more time.

We've stayed at Pono Kai multiple times before and love it there. It's centrally located, so getting to the either side of the island is easy. And it's within walking distance to everything in Kapa'a; very nice not to always have to get into the car to do things.
This unit is one of the best ones we have stayed at. Oceanfront so that even when we were tired and wanted to rest we were still able to enjoy watching and listening to the ocean. And people (and dog) watching everyone on the walking path was entertaining. The unit has AC, but with the trade winds and the fans we never needed to use it (but nice to have the option). The tile floors are a great touch for being at the beach. And the in unit w/d is truly a plus! Being on the third floor (they do have elevators) we felt safe and secure leaving the door open at night to listen to the waves while we slept.
The owner was great to deal with. Hopefully we will have many more future stays in this unit!

The location could not have been more perfect. Right in middle of island, so convenient with activities we did south (snorkeling, boat tour) and to the north (state parks, hiking). Has a great beach with calmer water in front of this development. Walked every day to a different place for lunch and dinner and had great food in Kapa'a. The pool and grounds are immaculately well maintained. The condo was comfortable and clean and well stocked. We would definitely stay her again.

This was a beautiful condo overlooking the ocean. It is beautifully appointed with fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning (great for my partner who needs some temperature regulation for health reasons), laundry, as well as beach gear like chairs, umbrellas, and cooler. The check in and check out were seamless and totally smooth.
The resort is walkable to local shops and dining, which was really nice.
We had an amazing time and would stay here again in the future.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed our stay at Susan’s condo. The view can’t be beat! We were able to check in early, which was so nice after a long flight. We really enjoyed having the bike/walk path out front. Convenient to town and all amenities, but nothing beats waking up early and watching the sun rise with a cup of coffee. We will absolutely return to Susan’s place when we visit Kauai again! Thank you for everything!

The sunrises from the lani were awe inspiring, the condo was equipped with everything we needed, the location was wonderful ( short walk into Kapaa) & even the early morning rooster wake up call was a lovely part of our experience.

Great location for navigating the north and south sides of the island...was given very useful road information. The beach and bike trail is literally a few steps away from the unit. Many activities to do around the property. Downtown Kapaa is next door to the property. Would highly recommend this unit.

We had a lovely time in Kauai. First and foremost, the view and ocean sounds from this condo are amazing. The property is also extremely well located in Kapaa, super accessible to the whole island. The washer dryer are incredibly convenient. The host is wonderfully responsive. And the place comes fully stocked with boogie boards, beach chairs, kitchen ware and spices, and there was even some sunscreen and beach reads! Wonderful.

Staying in Kapaa is as authentic as Hawaiian there is. The town is laid back and walkable. The condo was perfect! Ocean front. Right on the bike path. We loved our quiet condo on the coconut coast. The views were so amazing, this unit is closest to the beach of any building in Pono Kai. We used the grills on the complex multiple times, nothing better than grilling with an ocean view! Susan was a great host as well, super responsive and friendly! We would definitely stay here again.
