Kealia Landing House sits on a bluff overlooking wide, sandy Kealia Beach with panoramic, unforgettable views of Kauai's east coast extending ten miles to the Hoary Head Mountain range. From this wonderful cul-de-sac in an historic mill community, recreational possibilities abound!

Right below the house stroll through secluded beaches for miles on Kauai’s paved Ke Ala Hele Makalae pedestrian/bike path, named by USA Today as the 5th best recreational trail in the country. Two miles to the right leads you right into Old Kapaa Town, according to Forbes magazine one of the 15 Prettiest Towns in America.

Take this opportunity to get into a private home providing your family indoor space to move around while enjoying the outdoor lanais and lawn areas as well. Cook your own meals or enjoy takeout from nearby restaurants while supporting local businesses.

Reminiscent of designs by architect Richard Neutra, the house is a modernist, architectural delight. Floor-to-ceiling windows, ten-foot-high Honduras mahogany ceilings and warm stained concrete floors are just a few of the features of this modern, elegant and very private home.

Perfectly designed and furnished for three couples; enjoy viewing entertainment from your Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming accounts through the 80-inch flat screen TV. The home office has great views of the Pacific and a well-supplied Hawaiiana library housing many books on Kauai and the history of Kauai.

Sit on the lawn and enjoy spectacular breaches of seasonal whales. According to The Garden Island newspaper, in a Kauai yearly whale count the highest average number of whales in a 15-minute period were sighted just across Kealia Bay below the house.

In the evening delight in the refreshing trade winds as myriad seabirds, including Frigates, Boobies and even Albatrosses make their way past as they return to the Kilauea Lighthouse Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy spectacular sun and moon rises over the ocean as well as great views of surrounding landmarks Sleeping Giant Mountain, Kong Mountain and in clear weather the waterfalls of Mt. Waialeale, right from your door.

One wall of the first level great room is nearly all glass with breath taking views of the ocean. The second floor is a spacious master suite with platform bed and roomy private lanai overlooking the cobalt blue sea. On the first floor step out to the ocean side lanai with a built-in Honduras mahogany and granite topped picnic table with adjacent gas barbecue. Enjoy the view while dining on grilled island seafood with fresh local ingredients as well as personal favorites.

Easy and equal access to all sides of the island from this wonderful location – plus Kapaa is right next door with a wide selection of restaurants, activities, markets and shops. Other activities nearby include surfing, boogie boarding, kite surfing, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, golf, shopping and tennis.

Magnificent! When I first saw this listing, I thought it had to be too good to be true. Since the listing and reviews were so detailed and highly rated we took our chances and are so glad we did! The views are unbeatable! We wanted to explore both the south and north shores so staying on the east side was very convenient. We felt the Kapa'a and Kealia area had a laid back, local vibe. The house is stocked with great kitchen amenities and utensils, beach gear (chairs, towels, some sand toys, etc.) tons of books, cleaning supplies if needed. We prepared a lot of meals in the kitchen and on the grill. Everything worked well and the views from the patio table while you dine are better than most restaurants. We were a little nervous about some information we received about break ins in the area prior to our arrival, but we never had any problems. We never left a downstairs sliding door open unless we were occupying the room. There were pvc pipes to wedge into the sliding doors to secure them when closed. We armed the alarm whenever we left the house. There are some windows in the bathrooms that are higher up that could be cracked open at night to allow air circulation along with ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Bedroom doors also had locks on them. We really felt very safe throughout our visit. The beach itself is gorgeous, but very strong waves this time of year (Jan/Feb). The wave breaker helped some. The adults loved playing in the waves! We preferred some other beaches with our toddler aged kiddo. Just a few minor draws backs we encountered - As other reviews have stated, the trail down to the beach is very steep and slippery when wet. We only made the trek once. Mostly we drove down to the beach and paved trail. There was always plenty of parking at Kealia beach. Another drawback of this location were the people camping on the beach at night. Because of this I was actually glad the trail to the house was somewhat hidden and steep. A few times they set off fireworks which would have been cool except for a sleeping little one. People sleeping in the upstairs bedroom said they could hear loud music at times. One last thing to note is the 5:00 pm check in time. While this is clearly stated in the online listing, it was difficult with the timing of our flights to wait this long for check in. With a tired toddler our first hours in Kauai were rough. Overall we loved our stay and cherish the memories made at Kealia Landing House! Maholo!!!

Wonderful sunsets and sunrises every day. Yes, you get both from this location! Well appointed home has everything you need. Well maintained and clean. Consider that there is no AC and that stairs are quite steep.

Love: property provided beautiful view and setting. Perfect for meditation and relaxation. Did not like: difficult walk down hill to reach the beach. Home itself needs some updating, ie. Bathrooms and mold in the washing machine.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful home and stunning views from lanai. Home does not have central air but cools down beautifully if you open it up. Trail to beach is steep but manageable if you don't haul alot of gear down. Loved having beach towels, umbrella, chairs and even a cooler available. We had a fantastic time !

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented this house for a getaway for just four of us. The house was very clean when we arrived and had so much space for us to spread out and relax. The openness of the floor plan was perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes/pots/pans/utensils/etc - we didn't need anything extra. The home was beautiful. There were beach essentials included - beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and towels. We LOVED the view and being so close to the waves was so soothing. Things to be aware of (but aren't necessarily negatives) - there is no AC in this house and it can get hot and muggy. Opening the sliding glass doors with screens helps alleviate that, but it's possible that bugs get in. We had a few creepy crawlies when we got there, and I called management to help and they had the pest control guy come and spray an extra time - this took care of it. There is a trail down to the beach, but it is a bit precarious in places. We opted to drive over to the parking lot (a quick 2 minute drive) since we took all of our beach gear too. The neighbors are so friendly and have incredible recommendations on food that is not to miss! Overall, we loved this house and would recommend it to our friends. It was a fabulous way to experience Kauaii for the first time. The location is so central to explore the island easily, and there were some days that we just stayed and relaxed at home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second stay in the Kealia Landing House and we found it to be as lovely and relaxing as the first time around. Our weather was spotty, so it was nice to be able to relax and watch the storms and surf from our perch on the hill. We arrived to find the internet not functioning, but when we notified the property manager the problem was quickly and professionally fixed. An excellent vacation home and management by KVR.

We were here for Christmas (my fiancé and I, my sister and her partner (all in our early 30s) and my parents (in their late 60s)) and had a wonderful time! The kitchen is well-stocked, the house is spacious, has a good sound system, relatively comfortable communal spaces, and a good amount of beach supplies (towels, 6 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, and some other stuff.) Beds are comfortable and closet space is plentiful. Lovely outdoor shower (cold water only.) Be aware that the trail down to the beach is quite steep with loose soil, and will not be accessible for those with limited mobility, but the beach is only about a 2-minute drive. For those who can use the trail that's pretty awesome. 10-minute drive into Kapa'a, or a 1.5-mile-ish walk/run, which was great! Curious lack of blinds on the ocean-facing windows, which made for a hot upstairs bedroom during the day and could be uncomfortable for particularly modest people. Not all screen doors close entirely, so some bugs do get into the house, but mostly little gnats that aren't too bothersome. Countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms are a bit on the tall side so super-shorties beware. Overall we had a fabulous time and would absolutely stay again!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent ten days at this property in November and it was a memorable experience. I had never been to this island before so i read a lot of reviews on this house beforehand so hopefully this review is helpful to someone else. First, the good: The house is amazing. Truly. The layout is perfect and the views are possibly the best on the island. Everything in the house was high quality and well taken care of. It's in good proximity to restaurants, the airport and all sorts of activities. The beach was beautiful and the water calm enough for our children to swim in safely. Now, the bad: Getting to the beach can be a challenge. At best, it is a steep hike but if you have young children or elderly folks with you, it would be nearly impassible. The other big negative is the beach itself; Unfortunately there are quite a few homeless folks that use this specific beach as a place to sleep. I'm not sure why they choose this beach in particular but there were multiple vehicles (cars are allowed on this beach) with folks sleeping inside every single night. And unfortunately for us, the worst case scenario happened as a homeless woman let herself into the house while we were there. She wasn't violent but very intoxicated and the police had to be called. No harm was done but it was a scary experience and it led to us locking the house down every night including all the sliding doors which made it pretty stuffy. Personally I probably wouldn't come back to this particular property because i have young children but it really is a fantastic location. Were it not for the few negatives i mentioned, i would recommend it to anyone.

The only thing that could have made this perfect house better would be AC in at least the master bedroom. However, it only took a day to acclimate to the island temps and became an after thought. Location, quietness of neighborhood and lanai design were superb.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful home. The view was amazing.Problems with roaches and VERY large spiders. The home does not have AC, and windows need to be open in order to keep it bearable. (leading to challenges with critters coming inside)We called the managemnt company who were courteous, but the exterminator didn't do anything. (no additional spraying, just told us to close the screen doors better)The beach is public access, so noise from the beach is sometimes transmitted, though this wasn't too problematic.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kealia Landing House was perfect for my family’s Kauai vacation! Waking each morning to watch the colorful sky as the sun rose while drinking coffee and planning our day’s adventure over the sounds of the surf below was wonderful. The trade winds and bedroom ceiling fans kept the house very comfortable. We found everything needed in the kitchen and the many beach supplies provided were appreciated. The house is very well maintained and the landscaping around the property lines created privacy. We used the paved trail below the house for morning walks and bike rides. As others have noted, the trail to the beach is challenging but manageable. The location of the house was perfect for exploring all of the island. We spent time hiking an exploring the Na Pali coast, Poipu, Hanalei, and Waimea Canyon. We were incredibly pleased with our experience with Kauai Rentals. They were super with outreach as our trip approached and very responsive to our requests. Best of all we were asked to do nothing but lock the house up when we departed. Unlike many recent experiences with online rental sites where we have been required to strip beds, start laundry, and empty waste baskets even after paying hefty cleaning fees.

We had the joy of sharing the Kealia Landing house with several couples over the course of a few weeks. Everyone loved the design and the location. If you've ever wondered what someone means when they say a house has "good bones," Kealia Landing answers the question. It cleverly creates private space for 3 couples in a small footprint, is full of interesting design, has an excellent office if you need to do some work, and has great indoor-outdoor living space. The location, in a part of the island far from most resorts, is also ideal. It's cited on a bluff, providing excellent views of nature, surfers at the beach, the weather and even the distant airport, with ample shade for hot afternoons or a passing shower. It's also close enough to town that forgetting an ingredient or picking up dinner is no more than a 15 minute trip. Our major regret was that we forgot to bring a hammock and binoculars! There were a few things that needed repair (wine fridge, kitchen hood) and you can definitely see some of the salt-water age on some items (rusty chairs) but these did not interfere with a fabulous trip. The only other watch-out is that beach access is via a precarious/steep trial. Several in our group took the trail daily, but it would be challenging to carry more than a backpack and little ones may struggle. The vacation rental company was also very responsive. Overall, highly recommend this property.

By far the view was the outstanding feature. It was a steep trek to the beach but worth it. The neighborhood was quiet and Kapaa was a short drive away, though the traffic was terrible at times. Easy location for day trips north or south.

The house is amazing! With high ceilings, the house has huge volumes and floor-to-ceiling windows all along offering an incredible view from anywhere in the living room/kitchen area. We experienced all kind of weather during our 10 day stay with storms, thunderstorms, mixed weather, amazing blue sky. Under all those conditions the view was unbelievable. The house is well equipped with kitchen appliances and utensils. We could cook everything we wanted. The exhaust over the stove is being replaced and the manager provided a fan to help in the meantime. The path to the beach is slippery when it rains but we could still use it everyday. The beach is great as it has an area protected by a breaker which is great for swimming and bodyboarding and a more open area with huge waves for experienced surfers. It is lifeguarded. The trail just below the house is wonderful. As it was our first Hawaiian vacation, we explored the rest of the island, but could have just stayed at and around the house for our entire stay.

Kauai Vacation Rental was awesome to work with. The house is really an architectural delight. The trail to the beach was doable and the walking/biking path was great for a stroll to Kapaa. The kitchen was well appointed and perfect for our needs. There were plenty of beach equipment - chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and beach towels. The massive windows, outdoor picnic table were fantastic and we ate every dinner on the picnic table. The only part that could use an upgrade is the BBQ grill. It is in good shape, clean and worked very well but it’s a bit small and there’s no way to set or know what the internal temperature is. Thank you to Kauai Vacation Rentals for a wonderful stay.

Gorgeous views were the highlight of this house. The neighborhood is quiet and well kept. The bedrooms were comfortable and well ventilated. The outdoor shower made beach trips less messy. Kitchen was well appointed and allowed several people to work at once without crowding.

Very nice location above the very beautiful bay. Great view, quiet location, near the village of Kapaa. The house is a stylish architectural house. Here every detail is right, but it does not have to be everyone's taste. Equipment is good, however on hot days the air conditioning system is missed, especially since our automobile air-conditioning did not work.

We had an amazing vacation at you wonderful home! We enjoyed the breathtaking views & privacy! We had a wonderful time exploring the island & enjoying the beach (and its easy access! :)). The house had everything we needed & more. We hope to return again soon. Mahalo, J, D, K, D, S & C New Jersey

Wow, what a great vacation home! Perfect view + relaxation! Really enjoyed the kitchen setup for easy cooking + dining. Enjoyed the dolphins + the geckos + the birds! On our 3rd visit to the island, this was the best. See you again in the near future! The W. family San Antonio, Texas

Our extended family visited from Colorado. Colorado and Hawaii are so drastically different it is like two different worlds. We enjoyed the warm weather tremendously as we left in a snowstorm and arrived to 80 degrees! The house and views plus ready access to the beach made this the perfect place for our family. We have hundreds (literally) of pictures to remember our trip, we were also privileged to see whales & dolphins from the back deck almost every day/morning. The sunrises are beautiful and something we do not see in Colorado. We enjoyed perfect weather with few clouds and only rained our last night. Dennis & Susan S., CO

This home was perfect for our family of 5. We loved eating our meals out on the lanai. Close proximity to the beach. Nice master bedroom with jacuzzi tub and balcony. Aloha, We rented this house when our daughter was getting married at Hanalei Bay. The location is ideal - easy to get to all parts of the island. We did a Napali Coast catamaran snorkeling trip with Blue Dolphin and would recommend it highly. The upstairs bedroom was absolutely the best! Sitting on the lanai was a highlight every day. The management team was extremely responsive. Having a washer/dryer was a must. The beach at the bottom of the hill was the best on the island! The trail was a bit tricky, but driving onto the beach was awesome and would recommend it as an alternative. Although this is a beautiful house, I gave it a 4 out of 5 due to a few things: the sliders were very tricky to open and the lack of A/C in the downstairs bedrooms. They were quite hot an stuffy even with ceiling fans. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the ocean side sliders open at night; so the bedrooms were not comfortable. If the owners would add this feature, it would be a 5 star house!

June 2015
Beautiful views - lots of whale & dolphin watching, Kauai is beautiful! I will be back again soon - hopefully in Summer to enjoy Napali Coast tunnels. Aloha! W, B, G, M, S & A Yuzhno - Sakhalinsk Russia Los Alamos/Santa Fe, New Mexico

We spent the first week of our honeymoon at the beach house and loved it! The sunrises in the morning, relaxing on the lanai, the sound system and grilling out with dinner on the picnic table overlooking the beach were some of our favorite things! We also enjoyed roosters running through the yard. Great location + house - thanks for giving us a great place to honeymoon! Blessings, MD & JD Morgantown, West Virginia

Your mouth will drop when you walk into the door and see this place for the first time! All we could say was "WOW!" when you feast your eyes on the view. The house is at the end of a quiet street on top of a hill overlooking Kealia Beach. You also get views of the mountains from the decks. The house was very clean upon arrival. During our stay we did find a scorpion, geckos, and lizards throughout the property. We also had dolphins and whales outside of the property almost every morning that could be viewed easily from the picnic table outside between 6-9am. I highly recommend bringing binoculars for an even closer look! The walk down to the beach is very sketchy and not recommended for those without good balance. The walking path is very steep and has a lot of overgrown vegetation. Luckily, we rented Jeeps and were able to just drive our Jeeps right down onto the beach. The location of this property is centrally located. The east side of the island can be quite wet at times, so if you want to get away from the rain I highly recommend taking a day trip to the south side to get some sun. However, the north side of the island was my favorite. The north and south sides of the island are completely different. Explore! Explore! Explore! I gave this property 4 out of 5 because of the following reasons: -the lighting in the downstairs bathrooms are very dark -we were missing several knives in the kitchen -the gas grill outside was didn't have a full propane tank and we had to call mgmt to replace it. Once we got it up and running, it burners weren't fully operational....definitely something they should have serviced. -the boogie boards were broken and couldn't be used -they advertise the bike path near the property, but there are no bikes on the property to utilize it -The pictures also show a garage, but the owner locked it up so the guests can't use it

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
