We've stayed at Menehune many times and this, by far, has been the spot with the best view. There was foot traffic being on the first floor, but that didn't bother us. Plus it was much more convenient to reach the beach/pool/BBQ's/etc. The sunsets were amazing. Uma was wonderful and responsive. We will be back. :)

Uma was easy to deal with right from the booking process through to the checking in and our stay. The condo is right on the ocean, Beach is right there. BBQ’s are easily accessed. We considered going to other beaches and ended up staying at this beach the whole time. Super convenient and almost felt private for the condo building. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Menehune Shores was very enjoyable. Perfectly located and close to everything we wanted to see in Central and South Maui. Our hosts David and Uma went out of their way to update their condo's technology even running back and forth across the Island to the Spectrum store to purchase new equipment so we didn't have to unplug (as much as we may have wanted to!). Very gracious people who will go the extra mile to ensure your stay meets your dreams. Maholo nui!

Our stay was great. The condo was clean. The view and sunsets off the lanai were amazing! You were able to see the sea turtles swimming right on the beach outside the backdoor. Highly recommend staying with Uma!

Overall we had a positive experience. The view is breathtaking! It was nice being on the ground floor - to be able to just walk out of the living room onto the lawn, and enjoy a meal outside with the view of the ocean.
The pros: The decor was nice. Having a second couch was a bonus since there was 4 of us. The master bed was very comfortable. The AC worked well, and having two units - one in the living room and in the bedroom kept the condo quite cool.The kitchen was stocked well enough for our needs. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was also very convenient.
The cons: The property is in need of updating. The refridgerator was rusty and leaked all over the floor, not all of the burners on the stove worked properly, and the counters had a sticky feel to them. The bathtub was dingy, and the hair dryer was very old and the cord was frayed. We were glad for the beach chairs and umbrella, but they were very well used. The towels and pot holders were also very worn. We enjoyed the pool and the use of the BBQ grills, but the pool code was wrong (or didn't work), so another family gave us theirs. Lastly, we stayed 8 days, but were only given 2.5 rolls of toilet paper, 2 rolls of paper towels, one dish sponge, and dish detergent that was rock solid. We bought more, but then found a stash of supplies locked in the bedroom closet. It would have been nice to have known that earlier.
Overall, we had a good time, but would most likely stay somewhere else next time.

We came to Maui for a friend’s birthday party and stayed for 3 nights over a weekend. The location was close to the airport and easy to locate. Our unit was ground level so the beach was right there and the property had a small pool for cooling off. Parking requires a permit but the office is closed at 2pm on Friday for the weekend so if you come after that you need to make your own sign for your car dashboard with the unit number rather than obtaining an official one. Parking is tight but we were always able to find a spot.
The check in process was very easy and the condo was comfortable for two people. Air conditioning was available in the living room and bedroom that made the stay pleasant. Overall a very nice visit with these accommodations.

Great condo, great location!! Well-equipped. Needs a little bit of repair on a few things in the unit--bedroom closet door, sliding glass door, transom above front door, tv cable box only works intermittently, light on lanai does not stay on-- it acts like a motion detecting light. But the unit was wonderful!! Thank you!

The location of the property was great and we took advantage of some recommendations left in the condo by the owner.
The negatives were that some items in the condo need updating... peeling cabinets, tub isn't pleasant and some items in the listing were not there or broken. I believe I saw at one time that there was a king size bed. It was a queen but comfy. Umbrella was broken and there were no coolers available. Also, the floors left your feet black. Not deal breakers, for sure, but just some areas for improvement if one desired. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Stayed here for our tenth wedding anniversary. We honeymooned in Lahaina. Wanted to do something more laid back this time around. Wonderful complex, beach was literally just a few steps outside our back back door. Could not have been more pleased with our choice to stay here.

My wife couldn’t open the “sliding” patio door which took me considerable effort. The stove burners were all unlevel. No non stick pans to cook with. I spent hours and still could not get the tv volume up to a hearable level. Owner didn’t return inquiry. Cabinets peeling, refrigerator rusty. All in all an aging badly in need of updates condo with a good location and ocean view..

My family and I spent two weeks in Uma's condo. The view was outstanding as was the little beach in front of the building. Great for little kids and turtles galore! The kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking supplies needed. Uma was also great with communicating with us regarding important information throughout our trip. Thanks Uma!

The views didn’t disappoint, the convenience to the beach is great and we loved the fish pond for the calmness and the turtles! Afternoon winds got a bit breezy at times but the location of the unit was such that you weren’t affected.

Property is just like the pictures. Condo complex is well maintained, & located close to restaurants & activities. There is no key needed to enter the condo, just the code. The office has limited hours (closes at 2) to get the parking pass. The tub/shower could have been cleaner. The bed is very comfortable. No instructions on how to use the ductless air conditioner (we are used to a thermostat) & owner did not respond to our call or text; however, we figured it out & did let her know. We would recommend staying here.

Oceanfront floor unit with spectacular view & easy beach access. Cant wait to return. Turtles everywhere. Please keep your distance. We saw several children trying to touch these magnificent creatures that shouldn't be disturbed. I wish there was more info on the beach deterring the uninformed tourist!

What an amazing place to stay! The most important thing for me is always bed comfort because a good nights sleep is key for a vacation. Definitely A++ there. Location right on the water, all amenities needed, and a view that can’t be beat. Also, the beach on the south side is where the local sea turtles sleep, so if you get up for an early morning walk you are treated to dozens of sea turtles. Truly a magical location.

Overall, the property was very good. The views are great, the lanai was breezy and the added protection of the storm shutters made it feel safe at night (not that I felt unsafe at anytime).
The only bad thing I can say about the unit is that the floors where not clean when we arrived. We do not wear shoes in houses, so we instinctively took them off at the door; Big mistake. Our feet were black in a matter of minutes. There were some tiny ants in the kitchen, but in a housing community this big, that’s understood.

This is our 6th (?) stay at Uma's condo. Beautiful condo grounds right outside the lanai. The recent upgrades (new futon, a/c) make the stay pleasurable. Fully stocked kitchen. Comfy queen bed. Kids slept on futon and that worked very well. Pool is clear and clean as the maintenance cleans daily. Excellent wifi. We love the BBQ area by the pool and beach. Another wonderful and very relaxing stay!

This is a great little place just steps from the ocean. Close enough to other beaches; shopping and great places to eat. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai with coffee in the morning listening to the waves and keeping an eye out for whales. This place has everything you need and even a few extras like a couple beach chairs and a boogie board. Sunsets are directly out the door over the ocean -- beautiful. We also appreciated having the use of a washer/dryer right in the condo. We would stay here again.

Best 3 things about Uma's place: 1. Location on ground level with lush green lawn and quiet Bay just beyond; 2. Award-winning East Indian bar and restaurant on-site; and 3. Sunsets with soothing conk shell "horn blowing" by neighbors.
Even though the new Queen bed was comfy for one of us, I regret not having the King as originally stated when I booked.

This place was great. The view is amazing from the back covered patio that has lighting and amazing view of the ocean. At night we even saw someone practicing with fire so we got our own private fire show. The ac in the living room and the bedroom work great. I will be staying here again. Overall, a nice property. Great views on the lanai. Wonderful air conditioning. I will say the bathroom is a little funky- the tub is fairly high and the toilet paper roll is very low. Not an inconvenience, but maybe something to note for older couples. Also, the dryer destroyed a pair of our pants. Easy check in and out. Unit is more updated than many others in the area.

Our family rented a 3 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and this 1 bedroom. It was a great location for our get together. Ours did have the air which we were grateful for (we live in Phoenix and don't know what to do without air conditioning!), property was clean and fairly well equiped. We would go back!

After 18 months of staying home, we were so excited to find Uma’s property for our first vacation since 2019 - and it did not disappoint! The condo was incredibly clean, in the perfect location, and just steps from two lovely beaches and the complex pool. The best part of this condo is the view - literally oceanfront and in the perfect location to sit and enjoy the sunset every night. We had the best time because of this condo!

Loved the ground floor location of the unit and the security shutters on the lanai. The grass area right off the lanai made it feel so much bigger and open. Our teenagers even loved running around out there. Short walk to the beach to snorkel, swim or watch the turtles. Too many turtles to count at the Maui Fishpond - so awesome! It was wonderful to eat meals and watch the sun set out on the lanai so close to the ocean. The location on the island is also great. Farmers market, shops, and swap meet nearby but not too close. The unit was clean and well stocked. Uma responded quickly when we had an issue with the clothes washer. She is very nice and I would stay here again. Highly recommend!

I am never one to leave such negative reviews, but this listing/host fully deserves it.
To start, the condo was in bad condition. Bugs/ants all through the kitchen, bedding/bed/furniture all incredibly worn out. Read through other reviews on this, I am not the only one to say it. There were also malfunctioning items, which I'll get into. The beach was terrible, very rocky and unappealing - you won't spend any time there. Much better condos with better beaches in Kihei. Also, view with the grass area and people walking back and forth in front wasn't great.
On the first night there I noticed the shower door was off it's track. My fiancee took a shower and it ended up coming off completely on her, luckily no damage then. We took it out of the bath and laid it against the wall on the floor. I then attempted to reach out to the owner about this, as well as the property manager. The contact phone number listed on VRBO was actually our own condo landline - fail. The resident manager didn't want to help and said I had to contact owner. All I had left was using the message option, which I did. I even noted health and safety issue, got zero response. Sure enough the next day, my fiancee went to move the glass and it completely shattered from only her gripping it! Crazy. Glass everywhere, she was cut in multiple areas and bled. We initially thought she needed stitches. Once again, I try to get in touch with owner to no avail, also called VRBO and waited on hold 35 mins, nobody picked up. Finally the next day, host replies and sends her husband to install a new door. (Btw it was installed incorrectly and didn't stay in place) I told the host we thought we deserved some sort of compensation, I think waiving the cleaning fee for example would have been fair. Host tells me she'll discuss with me the next day, then delays again, and finally after our trip is done tells me no refund of any sort would be given. Proceeds to blame US for the breaking of the glass, saying any professional knows not to lay glass like that against the wall. Excuse us for not being glass professionals and using what we thought was common sense for your defected shower door. Proceeds to tell us we should have contacted her, and her number was in the condo. I later found it buried under 10 random pieces of old paper on the counter, the first 10 pieces were copies of general info about the condo, no contact info. JOKE!
This host should not be allowed to be on VRBO. Beware!

needed a place on the water to recoup from 2 years of pain and sorrow. this was perfect . fridge has ice maker and filtered water a real plus , used the bed and futon comfy, washer dryer very handy,;large tv w/ cable Lani was the best. sunsets surf& outrigger watching . quiet complex, beaches on with lots of broken coral other sandy nice didn't use the pool . good matenance of property. needed Umas help and she responded promptly, perfect Home away from Home

The location of this property was top notch! Beautiful view, quiet neighbors and super close to 2 semi-private beaches. Also really close to many dining options and central to many activities- Road to Hana, Haleakala and Maui Ocean Center. Overall- a really nice place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Uma’s cozy condo at Menehune Shores. It was accessible, secure, well-stocked, comfortable....and right on the beach in Paradise.
