This place is in a great location, nicely updated, and plenty comfortable and spacious for two people. Grocery store and restaurants are close by. The view is gorgeous, just as pictured, and the complex is quiet. No AC, which concerned me at first, but we didn't need it at all. The beach at the complex is a little rocky, but is fine in calm waters. Not at all a problem with this unit, but just something to be aware of. Thanks for a great stay!

Quiet location away from all the resort craziness. Recently remodeled with updated appliances and TV. And the views are some the best on Maui. Don’t expect a resort experience with beach access. Right on the water but no direct beach. We had a wonderful relaxing time. Highly recommend.

Good location, lovely views. Problems with unit and with communications with owner. No local manager to help. Microwave inoperable with sign on it saying broken when we arrived. Property listed as having microwave.lock on slider to firmly close it also broken, despite owner telling us to use it to help with allowing breezes in without noise of door shaking. Inability to connect with owner who said Vrbo system not working. Liked being on Maui despite all these issues, but would not stay in this unit again.

This home is in a great location with wonderful ocean views from the lanai. The kitchen is fully furnished with coffee, spices, dishes, pots and pans. Beach chairs and umbrellas are included. The condo was very clean and has everything you need for your stay, umbrella, chairs towels, ice chest bags. Snorkeling is great out from and there are lots of turtles! The property says it’s in Lahaina, but it’s about 10-15 minutes from downtown Lahaina with all the cute shops! Over all our experience was great! Denise was a great communicator and responds quickly!

Beautiful view, wonderful people around facility. Complex is clean and quiet and right next to shoreline! Turtles abundant and it feels pretty safe on property although no real beach access. NOTE: This is an apartment complex that is well maintained. The airflow cools down the inside beautifully! Updated kitchen and quite comfortable. Note: no laundry facility inside apartment. Laundry access is on bottom floor of building and uses quarters or another pay system.

When my husband and I first arrived at Kahana Reef, we were both a little alarmed by the cinderblock, dated exterior of the building, but then were pleasantly surprised by the lovely, renovated interior of the unit and the absolutely stunning ocean view. If you're looking for a usable beach to walk to or in-unit laundry, this is not the property for you. However, if those two things are not a priority, I highly recommend this well-kept, nicely updated unit! Oh, the sunsets...

We stayed for 1 week in this beautiful unit. It was quiet and away from the busy busy tourist parts - yet just a short drive to do anything we wanted to do on the island. The unit was very clean and comfortable. Love the style of the unit and everything you need in the kitchen is available... plus a Britta water filter, so no need to buy bottled water. The complex is very peaceful and quiet - nothing but the sound of waves (unlike crowded resorts we have stayed at). Turtles love to hang out along the seawall eat the vegetation -- not uncommon to find 6 to 10 turtles hanging out there all day long. We were there the last week of March, and the whales were very active straight out from the condo, which comes with binoculars. Host was very responsive. Fantastic stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kahana Reef. The condo in comfortable, the interior decorations are beautiful ,and the view from the lanai is wonderful. We had easy access (though not easy parking) to some nice beaches and were able to get in some easy, from the shore snorkeling. Grocery stores are nearby, and if you want a real parking challenge, Lahaina is just down the road.

What an amazing experience staying in this delightful 1 bedroom condo overlooking the ocean which is 50 steps in front of you. I loved being on the 2nd floor and watching the whales with the binoculars provided. Everything was amazing and the location could not be better. The condo has everything you need, literally. Just bring food and drink and your bathing suit !

We frequently stay at Kahana Reef and this unit is our favourite. The unit is very clean and set up with everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Our host was very helpful with the pretrip information, the check in process was very smooth and the host was quick to respond to our inquiries during our stay. Starting the day with breakfast on the lanai while hearing the soothing waves and watching the whales play in the channel then ending the day watching the sun set was magical.

We chose this property based on reviews highlighting sealife watching. We were not disappointed! Spent most mornings with our breakfast sitting on the lanai whale watching. The property itself is even better than the pictures. Well stocked/appointed. Provided a great launching point for our other Maui adventures. It’s just a short drive from the Napili farmers market and Lahaina which had fantastic snorkeling (check out Mala wharf!). Would definitely stay here again. The weather was comfortable - overhead fans moved the air well and we didn’t miss not having A/C.

There is not air conditioning in this property and even though it is on the water, can get warm inside the unit. The property is old, but the interior is updated. The bedroom wasn’t overly clean and the carpeting should be replaced. The view is spectacular though.

A treat for myself and I friend to get away from the stresses of life. The condo was lovely, the pictures are on point and thoroughly enjoyed the lanai and taking walks along the beach. Denise was communicative and provided helpful information.
Everything was great, the only compliant is that the complex was undergoing a lot of construction that made it difficult to really unplug. Each day there was pounding of a drill, paint fumes, workman putting up plastic in the halls, deactivating elevators and/or fire alarms going off.
It would have been good to know this ahead of booking, as I may have selected another VRBO property.

We stayed 11 nights at the end of July and had a wonderful time! The apartment is beautifully decorated amd features a brand new convection oven, new kitchen counter tops and a remodeled bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with all the appliances and kitchen gear you need to make a gourmet meal. The king size bed was very comfortable. We were greeted the first few mornings with vibrant rainbows as we enjoyed our breakfast with an ocean view on the balcony. The grounds are very well maintained and although the property is a little dated the interior of the apartment is very modern. Parking is easy and the elevator is helpful for bringing up your shopping. Denise was super helpful and went beyond our expectations by having ceiling fan in the bedroom replaced within a day after we notified her that it wasn’t working correctly. That was really helpful as there is no a/c but with the fans and the cross breeze when you open the windows you don’t need it at all. The property is close to all the best beaches and snorkel spots in West Maui and close to shopping centers. Here’s a tip- you don’t need to go far to watch the sea turtles. Just go out back and look at the edge of the water. You’ll see huge sea turtles every afternoon. In summary don’t think twice book it now and you won’t regret it.

However, we were disappointed when we arrived as the place had not been cleaned and the temperature was ~85 degrees. Before you book, be aware there is NO AC in the apartment. The one fan provided does not work as we had to purchase our own to get the temperature down to comfortable conditions. Otherwise, we had a great stay and would recommend!

A beautiful, quiet and well-appointed getaway just few miles drive from the attractions of Lahaina. We knew this was "our place" the minute we opened the sliding glass door to our 2nd floor patio and heard the soothing sounds of the ocean. From the porch you saw the grass of the resort below us, the water crashing against the rock wall and the island of Moloka’i will greeted us once the skies cleared.
Communication with our hosts was easy, with any questions answered right way. Denise even sent a few island tips our way.
The kitchen is equipped with the basics, and we laughed that the kitchen just might be better stocked with gadgets and cookware than our own home. The living area overlooks the water, and makes it easy to have a few fellow vacationers over as guests. The bathroom is well-done, and the shower pressure refreshingly strong. Beach gear, towels and a cooler make a getaway to the sand a snap.
This complex is quiet, with the sound of the ocean ever-present. Note that there’s no air conditioning here, but it wasn’t necessary at all during our December visit. It’s a relaxed area, with several restaurants close by and many more a short drive away in Lahaina. Unfortunately, the sidewalks along the street stop about 1/2 mile from this complex, making the road less-walkable than we liked. That’s a small nuisance, and we would unquestionably stay here again for our next visit to Maui.

Everything was great with a couple exceptions: Liquid soaps were diluted and the amount of bathroom soap and shampoo was insufficient for our 6 day stay. Also would have liked to have more towels. My favorite unit in my favorite condo complex on Maui. I’m not a big resort person and Kahana Reef is small, friendly, steps from the water with a million dollar view and exactly what is needed for me to unwind. The unit stands out amongst others as immaculately clean, modern, nicely decorated and uncluttered. I sleep better in this bed than I do in my bed at home….not sure if it’s the bed or the sound of the waves! Always well-stocked kitchen (even had plentiful ice cubes in the freezer ready to use), beach gear and nice patio furniture. WiFi speed great for an online class I had while I was there. This unit never disappoints and Denise is always prompt, thoughtful and a pleasure to interact with. Thank you! Thank you! 🙏🏽

My partner and I stayed here for our anniversary trip. It was my first visit to Maui and I was so thrilled with everything. We arrived here in the dark, so we were completely enamored when we opened the blinds in the morning and saw the view!! It is exactly like the photos if not better.
This place had everything we could possibly think to need. The beach chairs, cooler and snorkel gear were SO awesome and made our stay so much easier.
During Covid it was nice to have the option to stay in and eat, and there were plenty of cooking supplies. No coffee in the condo, but a of good coffee shop is walking distance away, and I liked buying the local beans.
This is easily the best location on this side of Maui, with great beaches super accessible. We went on a walk down the Kaplaua Coastal Trail one morning and commented that most of the rooms at the Montage resort (over 2k a night) did not have views even close to what we had.
It’s definitely still worth it to rent a car to get to some of the coolest things on Maui like the waterfalls and jungles. Easy free parking right out front.
I couldn’t get away from work the whole time (sad I know) so I did some work while visiting, and I am happy to report that the WiFi works great and is fast enough for video calls. The speeds rivaled those we have at home.
Despite no AC, we slept comfortably with the windows open and the fan above the bed reaches a nice fast speed.
Where else can you sit on your couch and look out the window and see turtles swim by? Amazing.
I felt really relaxed after staying here and thank the hosts for offering such an amazing place on vrbo.

Love Kahana Reef and have been coming here since 2004. First time staying in this condo and it’s very nice with everything you need. Only reason I scored a 4 star is the noise of construction in condo above us for the last two mornings at 6:00 am yesterday and 5:00 am this morning. Then first two nights loud guests that smoked and partied until 2:00 am.

The only thing missing was I wish they had soap and shampoo stocked as travelers coming from Seattle don’t have the luxury of carrying liquids usually. The location was amazing, even better than what the pictures show. Having the entire ocean 30 yards away from the patio was breath taking. Even having beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler and snorkeling equipment was a huge bonus! There is no better place to stay on Maui than this location. We took the comforter from the bed and slept on the pull our mattress on the couch in the living room and woke up to the sunset and the ocean every morning, it was incredible. We will be staying here again in the future when we come back to Maui!
