The owners are extremely responsive and have taken time to think through all the details to make their property user friendly and turnkey.
We would recommend their property without hesitation.

Everything was in order and working well. We appreciate that as other properties we have stayed in had issues with entry, no propane, lack of basic items, etc. This home was completely ready to go! We had a great time at the Big Island while staying at Jan’s place. The home is really beautiful and everything we needed was provided. The kitchen is very well equipped and having beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and boogie boards available made beach outings easy.
The location within the Fairways is excellent, beautiful views from the Lanai and easy pool access. We also really enjoyed having access to the Beach Club in Mauna Lani.
Highly recommend and hope we can return one day.

Our 3 bedroom condo at the Fairways was perfect for our family’s needs & activities as my son got married at the Fairmont Orchid. (We prefer a home setting vs. a hotel room). The condo had a golf course view, lots of privacy, lovely furnishings, well equipped kitchen, beach chairs, coolers, etc. The central pool & hot tub were a great way to wind down after a day at the beach. Access to the beach club was a very nice benefit. Overall, we loved our stay & will give an outstanding recommendation to our friends.

The condo location is in a quiet location. We found several restaurants within 10-15 mins drive. The condo was extremely well stocked and was very clean. We had an issue with the AC the first couple nights and decided to reach out to the owners. They quickly rectified. We had a nice time listening to the birds and sitting on the patio. The club access was a great spot to relax and enjoy quiet waters. Thank you to the owners for accommodating a schedule request due to a medical condition. We were able to create great memories.

This condo far exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the VRBO website do not do this place justice. I felt like we were living in a high-end hotel. The furnishings, art, linens, appliances, etc were exceptional. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. Even the supplied amount of toilet paper and paper towels were more than we needed for the week. The beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards, insulated coolers, etc made our beach trips very comfortable. The Beach Club private beach was amazing and we really appreciated the private parking lot. The snorkeling off this beach was wonderful. Jan and Michael's attention to detail was so far and above any other VRBO rental we have used in the past. We really liked staying in this area of the island. It was much quieter than Kona proper. The only down side of this area of the island is that the Foodland grocery store closes at 7pm. We were not aware of this and our arrival after that time meant we could not shop for breakfast foods for the next day. Luckily, we discovered the Sunday brunch buffet at the Mauna Lani Auberge Resort--pricey but wonderful! I wish we had stayed longer than a week in this condo!

The unit is very, very well kept!! The description was on point. Never have I stayed at a place that had so much extra to offer. The owners really care for this home and the people that visit. It is close to a small shopping plaza. The community pool was a 1 min walk and never once was it crowded. The access to the private beach was amazing!! The six of us enjoyed it for hours in the AM and then had lunch at the restaurant steps from the beach. I would highly recommend this and give it 5+ 🌟. If we get a chance in the future to visit again, this location will definitely be 1st choice. If this is an option to book, DO IT!!!! Do not hesitate!

We absolutely loved this gem of a condo. Nice and quiet (I imagine any in this complex would be, except right by the pool maybe). The pool is so great and family friendly. Nice and chill...no "scene" and always a free chair. This condo is super well appointed by something that ACTUALLY cooks! They have most seasonings and condiments that you need to make most things - such a huge help while traveling and saves a ton of wasted food and $. Everything about the condo was super nice, clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the beds could be more comfortable (felt like a firm, low-end mattress to all of us) and the condo was too hot at night upstairs (and the temperature was difficult to change because of the automated settings). We slept okay despite this, but it's the only thing keeping me from wanting to rebook the place immediately.

I'll keep this short and sweet - we loved it! We have been going to the Big Island almost annually (minus COVID) for about 15 years. We have mainly stayed in Waikoloa and enjoyed that, but for the past couple of years have come to Mauna Lani. This condo has been the best we have stayed for a couple of reasons. First, the location at the Mauna Lani in general and more specifically in the Fairways complex is really nice. Mauna Lani offers a great combination of shopping convenience along with neat little beaches including the owners Beach Club and historic Hawaiian sites. This complex sits in the middle of it all and the unit itself stands out because of its west facing aspect with open views out across the 12th hole of the golf course (far enough away not to be affected by what appeared to be some errant golf shots!), with beautiful sunsets over the palm trees in the distance. Second, we have never stayed in a unit so well appointed. The furniture and fixtures are all first class, and is stocked with EVERYTHING you need to make your vacation straightforward and enjoyable. I can't think of one thing that we needed that this condo didn't have, quite frankly. Nice pool in the complex as well, although be forewarned that per the rules kids under 8 are not allowed in the hot tub (not even with an adult) but that is the only flaw I can think of (flaw for us maybe a positive for others!). Again, we loved the unit and love the Big Island!

We enjoyed our stay at this condo. Spacious for our whole family. We cooked several nights there. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. The condo overlooks a golf course. The pool is a two minute walk. The beach access is a 15 minute walk or a quick drive over to the Mauna Lani Beach Club. We saw whale from the beach club! Very cool. You can also walk all the way to the club on the fisherman’s trail along the shore. The condo had a great lanai & bbq. We will definitely book again when we return

We had a great experience. The home was clean and check in went smoothly. Beautifully decorated home backed up to the golf course. The 2 story townhome allowed some separation with our adult kids. We were absolutely happy to stay in this house! House itself, community and pool are gorgeous! We had access to private beach with nice reef fish and wonderful beachfront restaurant. I was especially grateful for many small useful tools in the kitchen, great fresh smell of clothes after washing, beautiful beach towels! Everything for the beach - googles, umbrellas, chairs, toys, water shoes. Everything was perfectly clean. My younger son discovered a can of macadamia nuts and it became empty very soon after that)) we will definitely recommend this place to our friends. It was our first trip to Hawaii and we glad to stay here!

This is our 4th time back at the Fairways and our first time staying and this property. Compared to other townhomes in the community, we found this one to be very nicely furnished, clean, and primely located against the backdrop of the golf course. Jan was a wonderful host and was very kind and responsive when we had an issue (of our own doing). I think that when it comes to staying at The Fairways, the units themselves on VRBO are more or less the same in terms of floor plans and space. The differences are typically the quality and comfort of the furnishings, the physical location within the Fairways, as well as the service from the host - all of which were outstanding and we hope to come back. Aloha Jan, We are now back home after having spent 2 delightful weeks at Puako. Your house and all its amenities exceeded our expectations and we thank you for everything you planned to make our stay more comfortable. From salt and pepper and spices to extra beach towels and swim goggles and beach chairs and umbrella to wonderful appliances and adequate cookware.. It all provided us with a stressless vacation. The grandkids appreciated the close and attractive pool and we all enjoyed the various beaches in the area. We were very pleased with this accommodation! It is spacious, clean, well appointed, and in a great location. The bed was extremely comfortable. I love to cook, and the kitchen had all the gadgets necessary to whip up a fine meal. We love the fact that a private beach is available to people in this community. It has a lovely restaurant, as well. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. We're going back!!!

We stayed with our two children (aged 6 and 8). The condo is beautiful, comfortable, and very well-supplied. We really appreciated that it had things like spices and laundry soap. The pool area is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. Mauni Lani is a fantastic resort; the beach club is great with easy access to snorkeling, seeing turtles on the beach, and a grocery store within the resort. The property manager and Jan were both very helpful and made booking, arriving, etc.. so easy. We have booked many different condos through VRBO and would highly highly recommend this condo. We will be back!

We chose to stay at this condo because it was advertised that it was family friendly. This was our first time traveling with our 7 month old baby and this condo was PERFECT! Larry, the property manager, greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. There was already a pack-n-play that came with the condo, but he was kind enough to provide an extra one, so we would have one on each floor. There was even a very useful booster chair available that he set up for us as a highchair. There were many beach toys in the garage that we could use as well as a blowup float for baby. The condo is very spacious and very well decorated. We felt right at home in this clean, well laid-out unit. It is very close to the pool and the grounds are just lovely. We definitely will stay here again! This was our fifth year staying in Mauna Lani. We love that we have access to an incredible beach and the beautiful ancient fish ponds, as well as great shopping. Highly recommended!

My husband and I along with my oldest daughter and her husband stayed in Jan's Fairways condo at Mauna Loa for a week. We were in Hawaii for my youngest daughter's wedding. We found the accomodations quite luxurious. The rooms are large and the kitchen well stocked with all the equipment and appliances we needed to set up housekeeping. All we had to do was to buy groceries, but the pantry already had the basics and then some - including an array of spices, sugar, oil, etc. so we didn't need to worry about that. We also didn't have to worry about laundry detergent, dish washer soap and other similar items.
We were mostly enjoying the sun and the outdoors and the family so we didn't really use the TV much, but it was good to know it was there if we wanted it. The wi-fi worked great - we had no trouble keeping in touch with our folks on the mainland or checking into our flight home via the web.
It was great having access to a central pool and the beach club. Most of the other family members were staying in other condos there so it made it easy for us all to get together. And it was very handy to have Foodland, some restaurants and shops within walking distance.
It's a beautiful spot, a beautiful, clean and well-maintained home and we had a wonderful time. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this condo again.

We had a wonderful time. The townhouse is spacious, and the master suite and bath were lovely. We were traveling with our one year old, so the washer dryer and dishwasher were key. We were able to walk to the Orchid for breakfast and went to the Mauni lani for lunch and beach. Thanks, Jan and Michael, for a lovely place to stay.

We returned to Jan's wonderful condo for a family Christmas holiday. We had 3 codos at the Fairways and I must say ours was by far the best equipped . Tons of dishware, glasses, kitchen gadgets and appliances, as well as an abundance of towels and beach toys.We love the island decor. The wide expanse of lawn in front of the condo makes for an ideal place for the children to play. This year, in the spirit of giving, we sponsored families moving into a new housing facility near Costco. We played games, crafts and enjoyed lunch with the parents and their children. We treated ourselves to a wonderful Xmas eve dinner at Napua, the dinner restaurant at the Beach Club. Some of us spent a day zip lining with Kohala zip line. A real thrill. The Fairways is an ideal place for a family gathering .We can't wait to return!

It was stocked with pretty much everything we could ever think of needing on our vacation, including kitchen gadgets and sand toys for my son. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Fairways condo for three weeks this October and had the best family vacation ever! We have two little ones-a two year old and a three and a half year old, both small enough where most vacations aren't relaxing, except for this one! We had everything we needed-the condo is close enough to walk to beaches, great pool, kitchen for cooking all of our meals, washer/dryer, great shopping nearby and more. We met so many families staying at resorts that couldn't believe they were staying at a resort and not at this condo after we told them about it! They were miserable in the resorts because they couldn't cook for their kids and take care of them in a home environment while on vacation. Our favorite night event was walking to the Fairmont Orchid with our flashlights and resting on the beach while the sun was setting. The best snorkeling was at the Owner's Beach where we could use the cabanas and chairs right on the beach! Since Owner's Beach isn't in any guide book we saw, it wasn't swarmed with people. Great beach! We saw countless turtles and tropical fish at this beach. The walk between the Owner's Beach, Mauna Lani and Fairmont Orchid was breathtaking and all within walking distance with little ones (we are very active people). We ended most days with cocktails made in the condo and dining on fresh sashimi from Foodland Farms, the best store for convenient eating, and homemade mac & cheese for the kid. We also found the amazing fish shop up the road and dined on very rare spiny lobster and local fish. What a treat! If you aren't staying in a resort, at least you can make the best cocktails and dine on local fish at reasonable prices. Plus the kids can run around the yard and have fun while you relax. We never even went to Kona or Hilo in three weeks, there was enough to do on this coast to keep us and two little ones happy. The condo is perfect-beautifully decorated, well setup, great location and great owners. Thank you Jan for the best family vacation we have ever taken! It's going to be hard to top this one, so we may need to do it again sometime. Other plus-my husband worked for a week while we were there, the technology/internet access was great, no problems getting setup or online (we've had that issue at other places before). The sunset at Hapuna Beach and the snorkeling at Mauna Kea were both unbelievable! Everything was five minutes away! LOVED IT!!!
