This accommodation is wonderful. Very clean, plenty of amenities, very comfortable, nice air conditioning. Incredible ocean/coastal view.
Most of all, we appreciated that the unit is located right on a desirable section of beach. It is also very well-located relative to all of the fun things to do when exploring the island; other coastal towns seem to be further away from many of the island’s main day trips/hikes/destinations.

Sugar Beach 226 is lovely, and we would happily stay there again! The space is well-appointed, beautiful and comfortable, and the lanai is wonderful for watching the crashing waves and the sunset. It’s within 15 minutes of all the shops and restaurants in Kihei as well. Communication with the owners was excellent and any minor issues were handled in very quick fashion. We highly recommend 226!

We had a great time! We've been to the resort many times. We love the location, how close it is to the water and the ocean front rooms. We loved sitting on the Lanai looking at the water and walking the beach. I really appreciated the communication and information from Barbara.

This condo is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, which made cooking some meals in pleasant. The condo/Lanai has an excellent ocean view and there is a nice beach right in front of the unit. Barbara was very easy to communicate with and answered any questions promptly, including restaurant and activity recommendations on the island. We plan to stay here again!

I've been to Sugar Beach Resort several times over the years. My favorite place to stay. This unit beats them all. Beautifully appointed. Clean and had everything you needed and more. The hosts are so organized and getting around and knowing what to do and how things worked was great. They were very communicative as well. Always prompt with answering queries. We went at the same time as the horrible fires in Lahaina and the upcountry. A dear friend was barely able to escape with her 2 kids and her car. She lost everything. We were so happy to be there to help her. A coincidental miracle for sure. Thanks for providing us a welcoming place to stay.

We stayed at Sugar Beach #226 for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. The resort is located in a very convenient location, with epic ocean view. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made us feel welcomed. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with a private lanai overlooking the ocean. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene and peaceful Hawaiian getaway.

Clean unit with Great up front Ocean View.
Had a smoker next door and it was listed as a non smoking property. We complained to owner and management but nothing was done. Lots of notes all over the inside of the unit: drawers, shower, sliding glass doors, washer/dryer, etc. They really want you to know its their unit and follow their rules and guidelines. That put a little unneeded stress on our stay.

The unit is beautifully updated throughout. All the necessary things are there for you including well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, beach chairs, etc. Views from the lanai can't beat it. This beautiful condo is centrally located in Kihei, which is close to everything. The condo was very well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen, chairs for sitting out at the beach and beach towels as well. Sitting out on the lanai each morning watching the ocean was my favorite place in the condo. Located on the second floor, it was easy to get to each afternoon when we got back from exploring the island. Will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving break at #226, everything was as expected, the condo was well furnished, the check-in was a breeze, the view and location were amazing.
The only small nitpick I could possibly make - comparing to other vacation rentals I've stayed at - the kitchen (condiments) was not as well stocked. For example, at other places we've found some combination of a stick of butter, eggs/bread, ketchup, some jellies, maybe a jar of peanut butter, zip lock bags, parchment paper, plastic wrap and aluminum foil. In some cases, I've also found small packs of yogurt and ice cream! All of these make it easy to pack a quick lunch to go or grab a late night bite/snack.
Having said that, the kitchen did have a mixer/grinder, lots of varieties of pots and pans, and assortment of plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, etc. so much appreciated. A pen to write an entry into the guestbook would have also been useful to have.
All in all, I would totally stay here again in a heartbeat. The above are just how this vacation home compared to others I've been in, which could have been lacking in other ways.

The place was immaculate when we arrived, had fresh flowers on the kitchen mantle and they left us a bottle of wine! Not sure if that was by design or because it was our honeymoon.
Location was top notch and the beach was a few steps away. Actually from the pictures it seemed like it was further away but it was alot closer than we thought.
We attended an orientation from the resort the one morning and won a free excursion!
I have no complaints about the condo and Barbara emailed me several times checking in to make sure everything was going ok.
I give it 5 stars and if we ever come back we would definitely choose this location again

This is our second stay in SB 226. We love the property, its amenities and proximity to other island locations. Sugar Beach is a gem that should not be missed. This VRBO unit at Sugar Beach Resort was a wonderful experience. The condo was perfectly clean and was furnished with all of the necessities and comforts of home.
The lanai offered unobstructed views of Haleakalā, the Molokini crater and the West Maui Mountains. Amazingly, we watched Humpback whales breach as we enjoyed the view from the lanai for both sunrises and colorful sunsets. The proximity of the lanai to the oceanside beach allowed us to also enjoy the relaxing sounds of the the surf.
Just a short drive south from the airport in Kahului, the unit was central for our day-trips to the Haleakalā volcano, a journey to Hana, a drive to Lahaina and Kapalua, and to our refreshing visit to the ʻĪao Needle that was just 20 minutes away. It was also central for some great dining.
The hosts, Barbara and George, took personal care to ensure our visit and stay in their Maui home met all of our needs and expectations.
The visit in one word was 'stunning'. Our stay at this VRBO unit exceeded our expectations in every way. We look forward to a return visit soon.

My wife and I just completed an 11 night stay (our 2nd visit) to #226 and enjoyed another perfect experience. I've said it before but it can't be overstated - when you work hard all year to plan a major vacation getaway, there's no better feeling than the security of a great lodging experience. This is it - no risk, just the comfort of a well maintained unit with all the supplies and amenities you need. The location? Ideal - a perfect view to an uncrowded beach that is ideal for that sunrise/sunset walk. Thanks again for a great place to call home for our vacation!

This was a perfect location with an amazing view! It was central to every place we wanted to go, and secluded enough to enjoy the lanai and the beachfront. George and Barbara were great hosts and checked in on us from the beginning to the end of the trip. We even got to see a few whales right from our lanai. Perfect location! The suite is literally oceanfront and the beach is perfect for swimming. It is an 8 minute beach walk to a popular bakery and shaved ice. Lots of restaurants 15-20 min drive away.
The apartment is very clean. The hosts has thought of everything thing to make our stay easy and pleasurable. The kitchen was well appointed, though we didn’t cook. There are swimming noodles and mats if you want to go to the beach, we didn’t use any as we took advantage of the lap swim at the pool (8-9am). Pool is on the small side but doable for lap swimming.
Barbara is an excellent communicator! She gave detailed instructions and recommendations for activities, restaurants etc. We went to Lineage for dinner, not on her list very good. We arrived around 9pm and still made locating the place a piece of cake because of Barbara’s detailed directions. Thanks Barbara! You and George are wonderful host. Lastly, I would mention Marco, the island representative. We called him because the cable was no not working right and he responded right away. He had to come to the suite and fixed it, super nice guy.
I would highly recommend this place! It is a welcoming abode.

The owners were accommodating the entire trip! We had open lines of communication in the event that something was not satisfactory, but that was not the case. The condo was very clean, roomy, and provided everything we needed for my wife and I during our stay there. This place on the beach was full of beautiful views and is located in a very pleasant area of Maui. 10/10 will recommend to friends traveling to Maui!

This was my first stay on Maui, and it went amazingly. We flew in from the big island early and Barbara was able to get us access to the condo well ahead of standard check in time. You just can't beat sunshine and 80 degrees everyday! The condo at Sugar Beach Resort is exactly like the photos. Very comfortable and clean. It is well appointed. The beach is steps away and sunsets are great right from the lani.
We loved walking on the beach, swimming in the ocean and the heated pool. My husband loved the hot tub. There is lots to do and see. Restaurants are great. Loved the golf courses. The owners of this condo make sure your every need is met. We highly recommend this condo and Sugar Beach Resort.

We were very excited about our vacation at Sugar Beach Resort in Maui. We were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. George & Barbara (the owners) were in contact with us prior to leaving and after we arrived. Barbara called us the day after our arrival to see if everything was as it should be. This unit is fully equipped for eating in or spending time on the beach. The view from the Lanai is incredible. We were so impressed, we bought 2 weeks next February and are sending our Daughter and Son-in-law to this Unit, to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Great condo! Being on the second floor was perfect. The unit was very clean and had all the comforts of home. The pictures are accurate but its even better in person. That first impression when you walk in the condo and are met with a wall of windows and the fabulous ocean view so close - WOW!
Lots of parking available and right next to the building. There is an elevator available if needed.
A trip saver for me was the central air conditioning in the unit. It was extremely hot and humid during my stay and the A/C was so appreciated. Definitely something to look for and consider when looking at vacation rentals.
Sugar Beach Resort is in a great central location on the island, and so quick and easy to find from the airport. The resort overall is very well maintained.
The owners were very pleasant and responsive to work with. I'll definitely be arranging my next trip to Maui around this unit's availability. Highly recommend!

Everything you could possibly need was provided, even the gorgeous view of the Pacific, just steps away from the condo. We had an amazing stay in Maui! Stayed for 8 nights, and had everything we needed. The condo was pristine-the views are breathtaking; pictures do not do justice. Since we live on the east coast, we were waking up every morning by about 5am. For the first time in our lives we actually looked forward to being awake before the sun so we could sit on that lovely lanai and sip Maui coffee as the sun came up. Everything about the condo was perfect. Barbara and George were responsive and super easy to work with. They sent tons of info about the island and answered all of my questions. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!

This condo is in a great location on the central part of the island which gives equal access to all the areas. It's a 30 second walk down the stairs and around a corner to either the beach or the pool. The beach is very nice here with no rocks although the beach is fairly narrow. There are plenty of lawn chairs or recliners at the pool or on the grass between the building and beach. The pool and hot tub are clean. The condo itself is clean and has all the amenities you should need. The AC works well. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen if fully stocked with cooking tools. Washer and dryer work well. Sitting on the lenai became a favorite pastime for people watching and sunsets. The keycode for door entry was great as there is no key to carry around or lose. No complaints at all. The owners were very helpful. Thanks!

This sweetheart of an oceanfront condo is a real treat. Check-in process was smooth, even after hours. The ladies at the front desk are super friendly and knowledgeable. Conveniently located on the second floor, it takes no time to dash down to the pool / barbecue area, or to your car. Elevators are fairly close if stairs aren't your thing. The key pad access entry is one of the better convenience features. No room key to worry about when you leave the room. This has to be one of the cleanest condo's we've ever stayed in on Maui. The owners have placed discrete notes throughout the condo, with tips on a variety of issues: from how to operate the appliances to how to make better use of amenities. We really appreciated the notes because it took a lot of the guess work out of simple tasks. The kitchen is well appointed and unlike many other condos, the owners actually left a large cabinet empty for food storage. There's nothing worse than checking in to a nice place then having to look at groceries stacked all over the place because there's no space left in the cabinets. The dining table is located next to the glass wall / sliding glass doors, that opens to the lanai...perfect for enjoying the view while dining. In addition to the standard table and chairs on the lanai, there is a chase lounge. Not very many properties have both. The view off the lanai is great. The TV and entertainment center in the living area is very nice and if you're feeling tired after a day of snorkeling or boogie boarding (supplied by owners) and want to lay in bed and watch TV, you can do that too. The bed was very comfortable, by the way. There are many other features we could tell you about. We would definitely rent this property again and will recommend it to our friends. Wonderful stay at Sugar Beach - so close to the beach, a nice pool/spa area, and easy to get-in and get-out. Also, it was very relaxed there, not bustling like some other areas. In fact, I liked how it was half-way between south (Kihei/Waliea) and west waui (Lahaina), and near Kahului (airport/town). If you're looking not to stay in the center of it all, but easy access to it all, this is a great place. The place itself was lovely and quiet. It was very comfortable, well-maintained, and they even left me a nice welcome to Hawaii gift - chocolate-covered macadamia nuts! The beach didn't seem like a great swimming beach but was a nice walking beach - although a couple afternoons the wind was intense. Of course, a beautiful view and nice sunsets. Overall, an excellent stay and I'd highly recommend others who are considering staying there.

This is a great location from which to explore the entire island. The unit is located in a large, well-run complex. The management was very efficient and friendly. The pool was nice and the gardening around the complex was pretty.
The unit was very clean and well organized. The bed was super comfortable! We had everything we needed to prepare meals. It was exactly as described on the website. Having a washer and dryer in the unit is a huge bonus for light travelers. The owners were very friendly and helpful when planning our trip. They mailed us a package with detailed directions and suggestions for places to visit and eat. This was our first time renting a condo through a website so it was reassuring to us that we could talk directly to the owners.
We were able to explore much of the island during our 5 night stay. Highlights include a visit to Iao Valley Park, driving up to Haleakala Mountain, and of course, the road to Hana and a hike up to Waimoku Falls. We took a sailboat ride on the America II out of Lahaina - that was fantastic. Whales came up right next to the boat!
We would certainly stay here again if we return to Maui and will recommend it to friends

George and Barbara's beautiful condo at Sugar Beach resort was the perfect location for our first trip to Maui. And they provided so much wonderful information before we even arrived for restaurants, activities, everything.
The view from the condo exceeded expectations. What could be better than sittting on the lanai and watching the whales breech 200 yards off shore? And the sunrise and sunset were stunning.
This condo is clean, well stocked and very comfortable. It felt like home from the minute we arrived.
In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much we have already booked for next year, and we will stay longer!
Sugar Beach Resort itself is fabulous. The location is right on the beach and a short walk to the convenience store for almost anything you need. We never did use the pool with the beach being so close but it was nice to know it was there if we desired. The grounds are well kept and nicely landscaped.
For a romatic dinner, head up to Lahina and book a rooftop table at Fleetwoods. And try to Maui Mojito there. Yummy!
