My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary and we really can’t say enough good things about it. The Whaler is a fantastic property! The location is exceptional for access to all that Kaanapali Beach has to offer. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was very nice. This condo itself had amazing views of the beach and inland which was a huge bonus…so beautiful! Inside the condo, we had everything we needed and then some! Two beautiful bathrooms and a fantastic kitchen! The living space was plenty big for 2 or a small family. And the bedroom was a nice comfortable space. This trip and the condo was a great way to celebrate a milestone anniversary!

The Condo was exactly as described - beautiful, clean and spacious! We enjoyed spending our evenings on the large lanai. The kitchen is awesome - which we used a fair bit. The location is perfect - ABC store just a short walk away. The view is incredible - ocean on one side and mountains on the other. This is our 4th stay in Maui and definitely the best condo we have stayed in. Highly recommended!

“Stunning” was the first word out of my mouth when we arrived! This condo is Beautifully decorated with obvious attention to detail. For example, the mirrored wall in the living room allows you to see the ocean when you’re not actually looking out the window or on the lanai. The entire unit is updated. On the lanai, there is a lovely high-top table & chairs set which allows you to enjoy the view without looking through the balcony bars. We ate breakfast out there every morning & watched the whales! The condo is really set for you to have a great trip. The closet is stocked with beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, and even mosquito repellent. There is a TV in both the family room & bedroom with clear directions on how to operate the remote! The kitchen is also fully stocked with every appliance you can think of plus coffee & tea, dishwasher & laundry soap. An added bonus was the binder of information about the unit and The Whaler plus a list of restaurants and comments! Stacked washer/dryer in the master bedroom which we did not use. We already knew the location was great from previous trips & enjoyed walking the path as far as we could go plus easy access to the nearest village and Black Rock for snorkeling. Saw several turtles there! Hope to return in 2024! :-)

This is a beautiful condo with everything needed for a fantastic stay. Here you can spoil yourselves in luxury. The location is great. We watched Humpback Whales breaching sunrise to sunset from our balcony. It was a wonderful experience!

From start to finish our stay at this property and it's location are second to none. Condo was clean and accommodating for all needs of a temporary resident. Owners and guests are lucky to be able to have this property to enjoy. In our experience we noticed that there was a nice community amongst those who were present on the property in our week-long stay. From entering the gate, checking in and settling into the condo we felt very welcomed by not only the staff but residents as well. The condo itself was spacious, clean, and comes with spectacular views from the lanai. The convenience of two bathrooms was also a plus 😉. We loved the convenience of the elevator system that allowed us to transport items such as food, luggage etc. straight from the garage parking area to our room via shopping cart which we took full advantage of. There is a laundry area in the condo itself and also free laundry near the elevators as well which also makes it convenient. There was ample storage in the condo for clothes and other items. Finally, whether driving or walking there are plenty of attractions in this area to see and this location is convenient to go shopping or sight-seeing. Would definitely want to stay here again. Doug and Cessna, thank you so much for your graciousness for our stay at the 707.

This unit has everything! Best equipped kitchen in any VRBO unit we’ve ever seen. Plenty of towels, books to read, puzzles, chairs and umbrella and DVRs allowed us to watch sports at a convenient time. We will be back.

Thank you, Doug, for hosting us in your wonderful unit! My husband and I had an incredible stay. The unit was clean, spacious, and had a phenomenal view of the ocean. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony every morning while utilizing the kitchen, which had every appliance you could need (and even provided coffee!), and enjoyed having two full bathrooms! The closet by the entrance had beach chairs, an umbrella (just be carefully on windy days, as it doesn’t have an anchor for the sand), a small cooler, and more! I also cannot overstate the value of having in-unit laundry on a beach vacation. Finally, the location right next to Whaler’s Villages makes the beach, restaurants, and shopping all a short walk away. We would absolutely stay here again. Thanks again for everything!

The condo was beautiful, the view and access to the ocean were great, as well as many nearby restaurants from the boardwalk. The location cannot be beat, right on Ka'anapali Beach, one of the most beautiful in Hawaii. The condo was clean, well equipped, and comfortable, would definitely come back here again.

This is our second time at the Whaler which is a beautiful quiet property with great beaches, dining, and shopping basically next door. This was our first time in this unit and it was everything and more that the owner states. The upgrades are beautiful, the bed comfortable, and the lanai was large with a great view for the evening sunset over the ocean which is our favorite. There is also a great view of the mountains so very beautiful overall. We were here at the end of whale season but we’re still able to watch them from the lanai in the morning while enjoying a cup of coffee. The only downside is we have to go home to cold temps and a landlocked state but rest assured we will be back and look forward to staying in this unit again!

We had an amazing stay at this condo! It was nicely updated and very clean. It had all the amenities we could ask for and then some (3 different types of coffee makers!, well stocked kitchenware, extra linens, and even an Amazon Echo device we used to play music, and a nice patio set on the balcony to enjoy some meals outside). We booked this unit primarily because of the location (easy beach access) and for the convenience of an in-unit washer dryer. The Whaler property itself is very well maintained/clean and felt safe/secure. We rarely feel like we would book the same rental if visiting the same area again, but this rental is an exception! Overall the condo was clean and the views spectacular. The only recommendations would be a newer larger TV in the bedroom- very small and hard to read from the bed. Also, cleaning supplies such as glass cleaner, laundry detergent, etc would have been nice. We had nothing to clean the counters or tables.

We had never been to Maui before and had never used VRBO. Must say first time is the charm as we could not have done better. The Whaler 707 was great. Exactly as pictured, the condo had everything we could possibly need and a perfect view from the enormous lanai! Very spacious and comfortable and very smartly decorated. Laundry (free) down the hall. The beach is wide and great for walking and the pool was very nice to have. Best part was location on Kaanapali beach. Right next to Whalers Village with tons of places to eat and shop. Also, an easy drive just about anywhere. I must have looked at 200 options before pulling the trigger on this place, and we made a great choice. Everything was very clean, communication with Doug was quick, easy and very helpful. Having checked out most of the island over the last 4 days, we would definitely come back here! Thank you Doug!

Wow, just wow! The owners of this place have gone all in with their remodel of this unit and it shows. My wife and I are lucky enough to visit Whalers 2-3 times a year, and so have stayed in numerous units over the last 20 years. None as good as this one. The attention to every detail is apparent when you first walk in the door, from the wood paneled appliances in the kitchen to the completely new tiled bathrooms and incredibly comfortable bed in the bedroom. Speaking of bathrooms, most owners of this floor plan (1br/2bth) are content with remodeling the "master" bath and leave the second bathroom either minimally remodeled or not at all. Not these owners. The second bathroom is as well appointed as the master. Both have beautiful inlaid tile and dual shower heads---one above and one to get sand off the feet, which is a nice touch. The lanai is equally well appointed and has a very nice high-top table and coordinating bar stools which are terrific for taking in the amazing Maui sunsets viewable from here (at least during the late summer to spring months). And even if you are here in the mid-summer, when the sun is setting to the north of the building, you will still have magnificent views of the beach, ocean, and the island of Lanai.
As I mentioned, we have stayed in a lot of units at the Whaler, most are good, a few bad (e.g. see my 9/21 review of unit 616), but this one is off-the charts incredible. If you stay here you will not be disappointed in any way. This place is the perfect unit in the perfect location. Stay here and you will love it. Yes, it is THAT good.

We stayed 12 nights - the grounds are beautiful and immaculate. Short walk to restaurants, shopping, and water excursions. Beautiful views of both mountains and ocean. The pool is small and not kid friendly - that said - gorgeous beachfront!

I have been to Maui several times and I usually stay at a LARGE resort and decided to try something smaller and different. I was pleasantly surprised and LOVED this condo/property. Location was perfect!!! I will definitely stay at this property and specifically the unit I rented! It was PERFECT!!! I would highly recommend this property!!!

I can’t imagine a better property or unit for a trip to Maui. You truly feel in paradise here, centrally located on the best beach in Maui. The unit is spacious and oh so clean. I have never stayed in a better place! For those who are spending the money on a trip to Maui, you have to stay here, you will not be disappointed. Waking up or winding down on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean is incredible. The large kitchen makes it easy to cook when you are exhausted from eating at the touristy restaurants. The owners have compiled helpful hints, directions, and all you need to know to make this stay super special. The beach chairs, snorkel gear, and concierge services are above and beyond what I could have hoped for. We will definitely be back!!!

This condo is first class and comes with an amazing view. The Whaler is the best maintained resort of the many that line Kaanapali Beach. The bed was very comfortable, and the lanai is private and generously-sized. We did not hear any noise from the rooms around us. The owners have done a great job of furnishing the unit—it is very nicely appointed. Having two bathrooms was a plus. I would HIGHLY recommend this place.

Visited Doug's condo in July of 2015. Hopefully the first of many stays. The condo was exceptionally comfortable and clean. Beautiful kitchen and comfortable bedroom. Quiet location with a spectacular lanai to just sit on and watch the world go by on the beach below. Absolutely perfect for my wife and I to get away for a while. The location on Kaanapali beach was perfect. Very easy to walk to multiple restaurants, etc. Both my wife and I would rate this condo a 10 out of 10. Doug was very easy to deal with and we're absolutely going to visit again.

This was our second stay at the Whaler and with Doug. We had stayed in Doug’s studio unit two years ago and in March 2015 we stayed in his one bedroom for 13 nights. Both places are fantastic and Doug has been great to deal with. The condos are completely updated, equipped and truly feel like home. The view from both units are amazing and never ending. We loved watching the whales from the lanai and the sunsets can only be described as spectacular. The list of all the great things is too long to mention, but we will say that the Whaler is a wonderful location and you will not be disappointed with this unit.
We will definitely return as we have been home for only a couple of weeks and miss the place like crazy!!

My wife and I spent 8 nights in this beautiful condo from 18 September.The condo has undergone an excellent renovation with high class finishes and top quality furnishings Televisions and electrical equipment.For those who wish to cook the kitchen is a delight with plenty of space and every possible utensil and functional crockery and glassware for a beachside condominium.
We have holidayed at the Whaler on at least 8 occasions since around 2006.This is without a doubt a very comfortable,functional condominium the best in which we have holidayed in our increasingly frequent trips to Maui.
We are from Sydney ,Australia so we are talking 10 hours to Oahu ,2 hours clearing immigration and transfer to the domestic terminal and the short flight to Maui followed by around 45 minutes to Kaananpali. Time elapsed since check in and departure from Sydney around 15 hours.To arrive in such a clean functional well furnished apartment is a delight.

Accommodations in West Maui vary greatly in their ambience and what they offer. We were looking for a serene, clean, well appointed, close to dining and the beach place to stay. This condo fit our needs perfect and thensome. The photos of the condo and view leave out the soft sound of the waves and everchanging skyline. You can see both the oceanshore and the hillside on the quiet balcony. The owners thought of everything inside and the remodel made the interior very lovely. It felt like home! The grounds and pool area of the Whaler are very classy and more intimate than the larger condo units or hotels. Also, Doug promptly responded to my emails and he had a thoughtful list of information prior to our arrival. We could walk either direction on the beach and except for the need to explore Maui, didn't need a car. We would come back and stay here, in this unit on another trip to Maui.

My wife and I just returned from Maui and our stay at the Whaler. Doug and Cessna have the perfect spot at the Whaler. The views are spectacular and the location is convenient to everything. The condo is nicer than any hotel we've stayed in on various vacations. The upgrades are first class and the unit is so comfortable. It has all the amenities you need. The staff is very helpful from the moment you check in. Fred assisted in getting our luggage and groceries from car to unit. The concierge was most helpful recommending Luaus and other activities. Doug responds very promptly to any questions you may have from the first time we requested info until we were ready to come home. There is only one problem with staying there..............you have to eventually leave :)
Thank you Doug and Cessna for allowing us to use your beautiful home. It was more than we had hoped for and we will someday return.

We have stayed at the Ritz Carleton and Sheraton Black Rock on previous Maui trips. This condo far exceeded the accommodations at those properties. This unit is beautifully appointed and has amazing ocean views. It also looks exactly like it is pictured on the VRBO site...no misrepresentation with this one! The staff at The Whaler are friendly and Doug, the unit owner, is easy to work with. We highly recommend this unit for your vacation...and most certainly will use it again for ours!

After researching the Maui area extensively, I decided to choose this property for my vacation spot. When I saw it, I thought this looked too good to be true. Well, it was even better than I thought. First of all, Doug is an amazing owner who responds immediately to emails and phone calls and is a personal concierge as well. The condo is roomy, comfortable, quiet, and beautiful with every possible amenity imaginable. Sitting on the lanai morning, noon, and night we enjoyed panoramic views in every direction. The grounds are impeccable and the entire staff is wonderful, always willing to assist with a smile. The rental kiosk on the property makes it convenient to have umbrellas, chairs, and other equipment ready and set up for use. Having restaurants and shoping a few steps away makes eating out a pleasure without even cranking a car. The shopping covers any taste or price range. The only problem with our trip was we didn't want to leave the wonderful surroundings to experience the rest of the island! Our stay in this condo was the best we have ever experienced and it was worth every penny spent. We left with the the feeling that we had been valued guests in Doug and Cessna's home.
